  1. You'd think, but at least for the first 7 innings, hasn't made a damn bit of difference.
  2. Once he settled he was a different pitcher. I think he is on a week of rest as well. Gave up all singles and 2-3 were hit hard. Pretty impressive debut imo. Yeah very true. He was a different guy after the first few innings. Excited to see this guy in the rotation long-term.
  3. Well, I wasn't crazy about that, but it worked out. You'd think Woodruff dazzled in his debut if you were told he threw 6 scoreless. The reality is there was a lot of good and a lot of bad. But there's a lot of good things to build on.
  4. I'd just call it a day now and go to Hader for 2. Don't give Woodruff a reason not to leave feeling good about his debut despite the bumps.
  5. Of course Gio Gonzalez goes on paternity leave and Max Scherzer gets a start skipped as a precaution both in the Cubs series.
  6. Jeff Suppan could probably come out of retirement and shut this offense down the way they are swinging the bats.
  7. Offense is averaging 3.4 runs per game since the break, and many of those have come in 3 games. That's simply not going to win you many games and puts way too much pressure on your pitching staff.
  8. I'm glad he made it, but that was probably not a good idea by Arcia. Then again, he's probably well aware of how many leadoff doubles are stranded in this offense.
  9. All FSN Wisconsin commercials in a nutshell: "Drink beer and eat Usingers. Need a lot of money? Just play the Wisconsin lottery! Or, we can give you the number of a lawyer to help you sue the pants off of everybody if you ever get hurt."
  10. Whew. 28 pitch inning is a tough way to start, but important thing is he was able to work out of it with no damage.
  11. If Hader does end up being deemed a bullpen arm, i hope he gets used in a Miller like fashion and not locked into just some rigid 7th or 8th inning role. Amen. Locking a guy into a role based on the number that is next to the 'inning' is one of the most ridiculous things ever to somehow grace its way into the manager 'book.' Its 2017 and some managers have thankfully started to figure it out, but I still cringe anytime I hear a pitcher referred to as our '7th inning guy' or '8th inning guy.'
  12. Just one example, but Keith Law has said for years that he thinks Hader is a bullpen arm. Yeah, there are a lot of scouts and analysts that have said they think Hader is a future reliver.
  13. While it seems clear the Brewers are content with Hader in the bullpen for the rest of the season, where does he go from here in 2018? Its going to be hard to give him a rotation spot at least to start 2018 at the MLB level, given the competition. You'd also like to not further weaken the weak point of this team when he's been very successful in his role. But you also don't want to get too far away from him starting if you think his future is a high end starter. If you're going to groom him in the pen, you could be looking at a future closer, or perhaps a 'bullpen ace' situational type role. Where can he be the most successful and provide the best value to the team?
  14. He's another rental, so it would need to be basically a straight salary dump with nothing significant going back.
  15. Interesting to see what Susac can bring. I think he was kind of the favorite coming into this year and was certainly my front runner but after the injury he has been pretty brutal.
  16. For me, I don't see how this is related to the trade at all. He's a free agent. Resigning him is completely independent of the trade. They could have kept Cordell and signed Swarzak in the off-season. While there might be a slight chance their odds of signing him are increased by him playing in MKE for ten weeks, the reality is he's not likely signing an extension in August or September (has that ever happened?). Swarzak will be playing for the team that offers him the largest contract next year. Getting traded mid-year doesn't change that. I think they need to make an offer that's competitive with other offers he receives, but I certainly think playing here for a couple months is an important draw for a place like Milwaukee if he likes it here, wheras it probably would have been an afterthought if he didn't. Regardless, if the move keeps us in the thick of things and helps keep things interesting for another move, I'm good with it, even if we fall short. Cordell was a nice player, but a fairly expendable guy in our system, and 4th/5th OFers like Cordell I find easier to part with than lottery tickets in the lower levels with much higher ceilings.
  17. Even a blind squirrel can have two good games in a row. He's still at about a .740 OPS for the year, which is fine for a CF.
  18. Maybe we can agree to an extension where he gets sent to AAA every other week. Lol. Not a bad idea.
  19. Everyone's favorite whipping boy Broxton has been doing fine in his return from AAA so far.
  20. Is there a stat on which teams have allowed the most runs from baserunners that got on via walk? I can't imagine we're not near the top.
  21. I've kind of stopped paying attention to what the Cubs are doing, doesn't much matter to me at this point. Either we fix the big problems we have or none of anyone else's games mean much anyway.
