Honestly, it's been a fun season but I think we're still much closer to a .500 team than a contender. Realistically, I don't see much chance that we outlast the Cubs over the long haul . And that's okay. This was never supposed to be our year and it's probably not going to be.

Injury prone, expensive, flips out when demoted to the pen and walks out on the team and goes home. Also, sucks at his job. What's not to love about Garza?

Not when you consider the field Shaw is up against. The NL is 3B loaded.

He was certainly out but not clearly out. And it's up the umpires now, Craig can't challenge he can only ask them to look at it. I think we've seen enough of the replay system to know by now that if you want them to look at it, they'll look at it. I didn't see it and it sounds like it wouldn't have mattered but if it's remotely questionable there's no reason not to ask.

He was clearly out. Gotcha, on the radio they said Thames might have snuck a hand in there.

I didn't see it so I'm just going by what they said on the radio, but unless Thames was clearly out it makes no sense why Counsell wouldn't at least try to challenge that.

Haven't seen him pitch this year and the ERA is obviously good but a 2.42 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP seems like an incredibly lucky line.

4 starts at AA...pump the breaks. Which is exactly why I asked, 'How soon til we start seriously tossing around the idea,' I did not say 'Burnes should be on the next flight to Milwaukee. ' With that said he's had nothing but success at every level and I would guess looks to be on pace to join the rotation next summer .

Well this sucks. I guess Jimmy was due for a downer, but the D did him no favors in the 1st.

I don't really understand why people want Broxton benched at all. Is it just because of the Ks? I know he's very inconsistent but there's solid upside there, even for a 27 year old. How many CFers are there with legitimate 25/25 ability, much less ones that their fans want benched? I know he's been a bad fielder this year but he was a very good one last season -- I don't think he just suddenly forgot how to. I do think his D will come around.

How soon til we actually start seriously tossing around the idea of Burnes making the jump up to MLB? His domination of the minors is just insane.

Think what we gave up for Will Smith, that being what it was worth at the time, not now. So probably Luis Ortiz + Ryan Cordell or similar value.

Just looked it up and Knebel had a K in his last outing of last year as well, so he really only needs 11 more to best Chapman's overall record. Yep, technically Knebel is at 39 relative to Chapman's record. Nice catch. -

Every time I think this team is finally hitting that slide they fight back. Great job salvaging a split in a series where we were frankly outplayed.
