  1. Yeah, unfortunately they will need to watch his innings soon which will prevent him from helping us this year. He'll be one of the most exciting and anticipated debuts near year though. If he goes say 155 innings this year they could set the bar at about 180 next year. At this point I'd say he's looking at a June 2018 ETA.
  2. Broxton will break out of if and go on a tear like he does every time. Either you have to live with his highs and lows or trade him. It's futile to try to time it. I'd have no problem with another everyday bench option for the OF but if so I'd prefer Cordell while Brinson and Phillips play every day in AAA.
  3. The only way Brinson was going to stay up is if he forced the issue by playing well. He didn't. We aren't in a position to be auditioning guys right now. Good chance Brinson will make a fine MLB player one day, but the day of him being an MLB regular has been pushed back to 2018, and that's fine .
  4. The sheer dominance at the levels remind me of Suter in 2015/2016. There's a very low ERA, very low WHIP. K/BB ratios also look very good. That said.. it looks like Jon Perrin lost a good chunk of 2017 in the bullpen. What happened there?? I know Suter is your guy but I don't really see the parallels here. Burnes is mowing down over a batter an inning. Suter is much more of a pitch to contact guy. This isn't a knock on Suter. No Brewer Milb pitcher has had this dominant of a season in a long time.
  5. Yeah, I love Hader but his FIP is off the charts because of all his walks. He needs to at least get the walks down to 4 BB/9. I want to eventually see him get important innings but right now we have enough trouble with pen walks as it is.
  6. Anderson and Woodruff look like significant internal additions to me. We'll have to see if Blazek's recent performance is the real deal. I think they're pretty set. I think a dark horse would be Nick Ramirez as a LOOGY/extra bench bat. I'd like to see that.
  7. Comeback player of the Year: Eric Thames I almost gave this to Sogard. How do you not give it to the journeyman who hasn't played in MLB in several years who suddenly has a career year? I guess, when your teammate is a similar case. The dropoff since April is concerning, but the numbers are still gaudy. That, combined with somewhat limited time for Sogard, gives Thames the nod. Rookie of the Year: Manny Pina Obviously the options are limited, but Pina is a deserving candidate. With Lucroy departing, he eased concerns about the post-Luc era. Not just with his bat, but with that arm at 2nd, repeatedly gunning down any runner who cheats too far off the bag. Aguilar is eligible as well I believe, and it's tough not to give it to him. Hader could be in this mix as well if he had showed up a month sooner. Cy Young: Corey Knebel This is another tough one. Obviously Anderson and Nelson are deserving, and throw more innings. I'll give it to the most dominant pitcher on the team, and recognize his streak for the dominance it demonstrates, regardless of his role. MVP: Travis Shaw There were multiple guys that made sense. A starting pitcher? Could, both Anderson and Nelson have solidified the rotation. In April it looked like Thames would run away with this, and he's still a fair candidate. My vote goes to Shaw, who I think makes the most sense. He's got the gaudy offensive numbers of Thames, while also having an impressive glove to go with it at 3rd.. He's been mostly a model of consistency and has really solidified the 3B position in Milwaukee.
  8. Yeah there is a chance this is nothing more than a strategic move. Lopez, Brinson or Phillips back up for a few days after the break.
  9. Kind of getting to the point that when you check the box scores, if Burnes gave up any runs at all you feel a hint of disappointment.
  10. Except no he doesn't. How many CFers are good for 14 HR and a .750 OPS at the break? Also, we all know how streaky he is by now and know he will go through stretches where he will hit very poorly.
  11. Real nice work Carlos. No matter what is happening with the Cubs today, blowing back to back big leads on consecutive days is a very disappointing way to enter the break.
  12. Peralta will get DFA'ed, and then I would guess outrighted to Colorado Springs once healthy. There's no way you can really justify an option or DFA for anyone on the 25 right now to make room for Peralta.
  13. Exactly. He just didn't have it today - he isn't a machine. We just won, what, 5 in a row? This isn't the end of the world. It is disappointing to lose like that but we can't win 'em all. Let's go win the series tomorrow with Jimmy on the mound. He's been a fantastic reliever. He just hasn't been fantastic in the closer's role.
  14. Shame that Knebel and the bats wasted a great pitching performance. Rough loss and Braun made it what, almost 2 weeks before another injury?
  15. He is a medical marvel. I guess years of PED abuse will do that to you.
  16. If Gameday is accurate, Knebel got horribly squeezed on Ball 2.
  17. Hughes really doesn't get enough credit. He's been fantastic the last month.
  18. Like where? We are pretty set at 3rd, pretty set in the corner OF, though Eric can kind of sort of fake it in left. Our lineup is pretty set most everywhere. Good problem to have. Villar could certainly be improved on and even though he's had great streaks Broxton has been generally replaceable offensively. If your centerfielder has a .781 OPS and you consider him generally replaceable offensively you are in real good shape.
  19. Like where? We are pretty set at 3rd, pretty set in the corner OF, though Eric can kind of sort of fake it in left. Our lineup is pretty set most everywhere. Good problem to have.
  20. Honest question, if Hader ends up being our Andrew Miller, is it even worth bothering trying to go back to the starter route with him?
