  1. It's not a bad move, especially with no Thames in, didn't work out. I didn't see the fly out from Perez but assume it would have scored Keon if he has made it. I agree there was no reason the other night for everyone getting on Villar for trying to take 3rd with 1 out.
  2. Hopefully Villar moves down when Braun returns. There's no reason not to have Keon near the top of the order right now.
  3. Jimmy seems like a really excellent candidate to say goodbye to his rotation spot when Guerra returns. Although that one is on Aguilar.
  4. I'm just noting why Bellinger for Braun was never realistic for the Dodgers, and rightfully so, that's all. I'm not saying Braun is s 4th OFer, obviously when he's healthy he's still good enough to be in there, but if it gets to the point where we can only rely on him for 100-110 starts a year in left, that's a problem.
  5. Braun a 4th OF? Come on man. He'll be penciled into that 3-hole for the next four years as long as he wants to continue to play. He is one of the best hitters in the game. Too many people get excited from shiny new things these days. I don't know, the Dodgers' shiny new toy is working out pretty well for them. I can see why they weren't willing to trade Bellinger.
  6. I have to agree. The number of minor injuries that are constantly hampering him are alarming, especially coming into the season saying he was as healthy as he's been in years. It's a huge red flag, especially for an NL team like the Dodgers that can't just use him as their DH. I'm not saying Braun is untradeable, but we are seeing a big reason why we couldn't get anything of significance for him in the off-season. 4 years of a player who is already very unreliable is a huge risk for any team. It doesn't do the Dodgers or Giants any good to trade for Braun as a major piece of a playoff puzzle if they have major misgivings that he'll be near 100% or even available for the playoffs.
  7. Feliz is pissed that he gave up a gimmee earned run.
  8. Is it really so much to ask of our pen to quit walking guys with leads?
  9. They might ride his arm the rest of the night and then reward him with a trip back to Colorado Springs for a fresher arm.
  10. I once saw a high school ump call a kid out on a foul tip (strike 1) after the crowd insisted that since it was a foul that was caught, it was technically a foul out. I just sat there and laughed.
  11. Ok, just not sure why you went from WAR to WRC+, which tells us about nothing other than his bat. I don't deny that Braun is still the better offensive player. That doesn't mean he'll be the better value over the rest of his contract.
  12. I would have thought so too, but this is the rule: http://m.mlb.com/glossary/rules/balk
  13. Puig's WRC+ 99 Braun's WRC+ 141 Puig is sitting at just about average while Braun is playing at an All Star level. So yes Puig has been awful while Braun has not been. So you used WAR to support your point, then backtracked on it and cherry picked a different stat when someone pointed out that they have the same WAR. Braun is a good hitter, hopefully he will continue to be for several years. I don't have a ton of confidence that he's going to be either reliable or a good left fielder the more he ages.
  14. Honestly, my vote would probably be for Phillips. Lefty bat, isn't really the super prospect anymore than Brinson is where you really want to watch his Super 2. If Brinson comes up I hope it's to play every day.
  15. I thought the whole point of having Scahill up is that he doesn't walk guys.
  16. No one gave me that option. Well, neither Wren or Nieuwenhuis are on the 40 so I would say one is an option as much as the other .
  17. You better update your tally board. I don't know what you want me to say, there is a reason I really wanted him traded in the off-season with his value up. The guy battles constant nagging injuries and at his age it's going to get worse, not better. If we had the DH in the NL he'd be an ideal fit as the regular DH but not having that his reliability is going to an ongoing question mark the next 4 years.
  18. Kirk N, there's an answer for you. Thames and Perez can handle LF for 10 days IF it happens. He was already lolly popping throws in from left with the arm, and now has the calf tightness. Would be very surprising IMO if he doesn't go on the DL.
  19. Anytime you bring up any of those guys, but a guy like Brinson in particular, there is no going back if they end up killing it. There just isn't a scenario right now that you start those clock on May 10th. They'd be better off sticking Perez out there if they put him on the DL. They called Prince up to DH for a few interleague series and they sent him back down. It has been done and can be done. No excuse for playing a guy who can't throw. Also if Brinson comes up and kills it and stays up that is not the end of the world. He is plenty safe from accumulating a full service year this year. He would definitely end up being a Super 2 but that's not that big of a deal compared to losing a service year.
  20. What is that, like the 3rd injury for Braun this year? 4th?
  21. Kirk N, there's an answer for you. I would prefer that. Gross. Why not Wren if you're going to add another outfielder to the 40 again?
  22. Well we might be getting an answer on the Braun DL debate sooner rather than later.
  23. He's smoked it all 3 times tonight. Only benefited once, but hopefully they can put together a nice inning .
