  1. LePay: "(Braun) said he couldn't recall anything specific that caused the calf injury." Well, that will happen when you're extremely injury prone. Yeah, on Coulter I still think they want to give lip service from the guy from time to time, with him being a former first round pick and all. But the reality of it is that he was exposed to the Rule 5 draft and not picked and is basically a non-prospect at this point. Maybe he can salvage a career, but I doubt it. I think he was actually only at High A last year (and not producing) and they basically just sent him on to Biloxi because he was pretty much at the point where he wasn't going to get any better and they just had to promote him by default.
  2. Gotta lay off that high heat Shaw, looked like Captain Kirk in that AB.
  3. Well, it won't be tonight if they need one, guessing that would be Barnes. But good news regardless.
  4. No , the 4 years is a real killer. I wouldn't expect it to be as difficult to deal him if his contract ran through 2018, but 2020 is tough. He's already about as durable as tissue paper at this point, hard to see it being much better in 3 years.
  5. Sogard looks like he just came to the stadium straight from teaching his computer science class.
  6. Broxton just missed taking one opposite field.
  7. Bottom of 2nd and no GT yet, so here we go. Go Brewers!
  8. Used to be able to get in with just a birth certificate, not so much anymore. Heck I went to Mexico a few times in the 90s and I remember them pretty much just waving you in, I think the searches were just at random. I'm amazed that anyone in this day and age thinks you can just flash a driver's license and head on in.
  9. So I was just curious on how much Brewer baseball everyone actually gets to see. With a whopping 162 games a year and about 3 hours to a game, people could be forgiven for not getting to watch all the time, especially this time of year when it's getting nicer. I personally watch pretty regularly early in the year almost every year, and if I'm being honest, if they're out of it by August I'm a much more casual observer by then, just tuning in occasionally to check out the young players, but more closely following the minors by that point. I have a job that I regularly work all 3 shifts -- days, 2nd, and overnights, and so if I'm on 2nd, I'm often listening on the radio from work which is nice. Same goes for overnights for the tail end of games or late West coast games. Otherwise, if I have something going on, I don't worry too much about missing it, I'm not recording and re-watching later or anything, but I'll check in on my phone occasionally during the game to see how they're doing. If I'm at home, I'm watching.
  10. I think you guys may be undervaluing Broxton. Even with the high K count and slumps,, he's been about an .850+ OPS player since the end of last July. If he can sustain at least an .800 OPS through the deadline, I think we have a pretty good case that he's figured things out, and if he has, an. 800 OPS centerfielder with gap power and speed and gold glove caliber defense, with 5 and a half years of cost control to boot, is quite valuable. If that's the guy he is at the deadline, I wouldn't part with him for any less than the DeLeon type return that the Dodgers gave up for Forsythe, if not more.
  11. What kind of return is Broxton worth? I mean I think he's at like an .820 OPS again now, if he's around. 800 at the deadline, playing great D in CF and a threat on the bases, we've got like a good year of data now saying he's figured it out and is good, and has 5+ more years of cheap control, you'd have to think he's the most valuable trade chip in the outfield, wouldn't you?
  12. Isn't one of the main points of rebuilding trying to figure out what you have? Kirk is a known quantity. What do we learn by bringing him up for two weeks and DFAing him again after? It's almost mid-May, we don't need to protect every single player in the organization from being a possible Super 2, especially when 2 weeks up isn't going to affect that anyway. I mean at least with Wren, who isn't my first choice, you can give him a shot up here and see what happens with him. Wren is buried behind good OF prospects, I get that, but the guy has an OBP over. 400 this year, and did last year as well. If you're really going to tell him that Kirk Nieuwenhuis is still a better option than him, you might as well go ahead and trade him to an OF needy team that wants to give him a shot.
  13. Don't know how anyone can be unhappy with acquiring Brinson who is a top 15 prospect in all of baseball. He was the best talent available for Lucroy. Easy to say we should have gotten another pitcher but we don't know what was offered.
  14. Yeah Cravy, Dillard, and Goforth all with total ERA busters today.
  15. Where's he going to play? I don't really have a problem with Cooper being up but if you do it you might as well DFA Aguilar who would have no reason to be here anymore.
  16. Don't think they kept that spot open for Nieuwenhuis. Sure hope not anyway. Cordell would be fine. Phillips too. I'm not as sure as you that it won't be Brinson. He has nearly a year of very good ball now at AAA and certainly has earned a couple weeks up. It doesn't have to be permanent.
  17. I don't get why people think Nieuwenhuis is the most likely. He isn't even on the 40 anymore. Why would they burn a 40 spot for a temporary option who will cost more than the others just put of familiarity when the 40 is loaded with outfielders?
  18. Yeah and you can take out the good and make someone worse than they appear. Using ERA for a relievers worth right now is kinda silly. He'll have plenty of time to lower it. And add to that save total. I'm not taking out the good or the bad. I'm giving you his actual numbers and saying he's been a very bad pitcher this year. The peripherals are also very, very bad, it's not just the ERA. He actually has only a .179 BABIP against him this year which is kind of amazing, they suggest he even has much better numbers than he should. We have better options. Feliz can pitch in 10-1 games where his frequent walks and HRs won't hurt us. Unless you're interested in Aaron Hill quality returns, no one is giving us anything of value for Feliz at the deadline.
  19. That is like the old 'Take his 5 worst starts out and his ERA would be awesome' argument. Any pitcher looks awesome if you take only his best samples of work and look at them . Feliz now has an ERA over 6. He would have to be damn near perfect for 2 months to have any sort of July trade value, not happening. GMs see what is going on with Feliz, none are going to be fooled by his 8 of 9 save number, they are much smarter than that these days and more aware of advance stats. They'll say 'Yeah alright, but what about Knebel or Barnes?"
  20. He's been bad in both save situations and not and luck is the main factor he's 8 for 9. His FIP is over 6 and that was coming into today, who knows how high it'll be now. ZIPS has him projected at a 4.85 ERA this year and a negative WAR. He's just bad and with a reliever it's plenty big enough of a sample, probably a quarter of his season innings in. He's not getting cut or anything but there's no need to keep him in the closer role anymore when there is no chance anyway of him salvaging any trade value in the next 2 months. He walks too many and gives up too many bombs which already makes him a terrible fit as closer.
  21. Feliz might as well just IBB the first batter of every inning he pitches and save the pitches on his arm. Stearns is awesome but he whiffed with Feliz. And it's not early, he just sucks. A closer that walks guys and gives up bombs is not a recipe for success.
  22. You are awful, Feliz. Just awful. Wish you were off this team.
  23. I have to give credit to Jimmy. There was some luck involved too but no way early on did I think it would have been possible for 6 and two thirds and no earned runs from now.
  24. I know Villar's bat hasn't been good so far this year, but I haven't heard anyone saying he can't make it at 2nd in a long time .
