  1. Supposedly the average is only up by about 1 mph, though it certainly feels like more.
  2. Yah the success offensively behind the plate has been fun, but I am quite confident both are going to regress greatly. Which isn't a big deal because I don't think anyone expected either to be above average. Honestly if either ends up hitting average it will be a win. I see no reason Pina can't be at least an average if not above average hitting catcher. He's got a career .802 OPS in the pros and was pretty consistently over . 700 in the minors and foreign leagues. As a late bloomer I think he's got a good chance to be more toward that high mark. While I'm not quite as optimistic on Bandy's bat, we'll see. I expect some regression for sure but still think his bat could play as an average catcher. I expect neither will make me miss Jason Kendall by the end of the year, I'll put it that way.
  3. Imagine what this offense would be doing if Villar starts getting on like he was last year. Need him to get it going.
  4. Matt Garza got shelled for 9 hits and 4 earned in 5 2/3rds in A Ball tonight. Going to be a real treat to get him back.
  5. I really haven't missed Lucroy at all so far this year and I kind of feel bad about it.
  6. Way too good of a pitch for 0-2. Anderson is lucky that didn't go 450 feet. Don't make a mistake here...
  7. I'm trying to stay grounded on Thames. There's a very long list of April heroes who went on to be pretty much nobody. But he sure looks like a guy who is more than a fluke.
  8. Appreciate the hustle by Keon, he's in a funk right now...much like Villar, just gotta ride it out with him .
  9. Course we get bad Chase tonight. I knew it was a bad sign when they started referring to him as 'Chase the Ace.'
  10. I have to wonder when you turn down 20M for your arbitration years and decide to go year to year, and you start out the season hitting a buck fifty, how much that starts to creep into your head.
  11. Does it not seem like we usually win with Pina and lose with Bandy? I'm not saying there's a correlation, it just does seem like it to me. Guess Bandy really did not like that comment.

  13. Kyle Schwarber seems like a little twit and I don't like him. I'm not sure why.
  14. The Brewers can't offer arbitration to Thames at any point. The 4th year option though is a team one for $7.5M with a $1M buyout which will hopefully be a no-brainer to exercise. All told, it could be a 4 year, $22.5M deal (plus some 500K bonuses Thames can get annually for plate appearances.) Hopefully he will get every penny and hopefully it will come out looking like pocket change. Why does no one believe me? We have Thames under 4 years of control including this year if we exercise his $7.5M CLUB option in 2020 after which he is a free agent and we cannot offer him arbitration. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/18163116/milwaukee-brewers-sign-1b-eric-thames-3-year-deal http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/6534/eric-thames (Click 'View Contract Details')
  15. Does anyone else automatically root against Price is Right contestants who screw over other players by bidding one dollar over their bid?
  16. If you are a 1-2M player asking for 5, you're going to remain unemployed, pretty simple. Kirk makes less than 1M, and even though you sort of said it as an aside, failing a physical is kind of a big deal, no reason to assume he'd pass one here. I'm no Nieuwy fan as everyone knows...I can see a good chance of him being DFA sometime in the summer and Phillips moving into his role, but Pagan isn't the solution. I really don't get the payroll argument. Affordability doesn't equal value. If I have $20,000 in my checking and am looking at a beater car for my high school kid worth $1,000, it doesn't mean I am willing to pay $2,500 just because I can afford it. I'll just look for a different car.
