He’s 7th in RF, 10th in fielding percentage and 46th in dWAR. I mean he’s fine but he’s not irreplaceably phenomenal. There are other equally capable defensive shortstops.

All you need is some chronic, insufferable insomnia.

It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Not every good hitting shortstop available in trade is also a defensive hack.

Yeli is at the point in his career where he can really cook if he’s on but when he’s off it’s really, really ugly.

Depends on what the alternative is. That’s a lot better than what we’ve gotten from him so far, and a lot worse than what we could get from some potential trade candidates.

That wasn’t a terrible AB by Joey. That said … I’m ok if they want to find a better option for SS at the deadline. He’s done some good things. but let’s be honest … he’s the biggest upgrade opportunity in the lineup.. and it’s not really close for a 2nd.

Can’t think of a single time that’s happened in Brewer history. Maybe Brett Phillips in 2018. Not sure one has much to do with the other. Guys get traded at the deadline. Some are bound to be AAAA/borderline prospects. ”Showcasing” a guy is more a fan perception thing than anything. Modern GMs are too smart to base anything off a week or two worth of ABs.

What opportunity? The trade deadline is in 10 days. Sigler has been up for 3 weeks and he’s had a total of 11 ABs. If there’s any team out there that wants Black, they’ve already done their scouting and homework on him by this point if they think they can turn him around and want to take a shot on him. There isn’t a GM that is competent enough to make it to the MLB level who is going to be influenced one way or another if Black gets to the plate and laces a double into the gap in a couple ABs this week.

Black’s trade value is probably quite minimal at the moment. I don’t see how coming off the bench and going 1 for 7 in the next week is going to change that at all. Someone would take a shot on him, sure, but I don’t read much into the move.

It’s been really exciting. They’ll obviously cool off at some point, but they’re definitely very good. Based on the remaining schedule, the Cubs probably have the edge for the division, but it could definitely go either way. My dreams are of a World Series. My bets, if I were to make any, is that they win a Wild Card and fall in the first round. It’s not that I don’t think they’re capable of more. I’ve just gone through the heartbreak too many times to get my hopes up until they can prove that they can get over the hump and at least win a playoff series or two. -
As of right now the Brewers are tied for the best record in baseball, pending the Tigers result today.

That was Chourio, who fortunately was hustling all the way. 1 more second and it’s only 5-4. Not great baserunning by Vaughn, but I won’t be too critical of him right now.

This last AB notwithstanding, Haase just hasn’t done a lot to make a case for more playing time this year. Brian I think it was also brought up the point earlier today that Williams’ relationship with this pitching staff is likely a crucial ingredient of their success or they wouldn’t be pushing Contreras so much.

Contreras has to be better. You are too important to this lineup to keep coming up small in situations where we just need a flyball.
