If we are advocating for Andruw Monasterio pinch-hitting, we could probably use another bat or two at the deadline.

I agree. This has been so much fun, but they still need a bopper in this lineup, badly, I hate to be that guy, but none of this means anything if we can’t win in the playoffs. We’ve been here too many times at this point to just be happy to be here.

It just feels like tonight ain’t gonna be our night. There was one particular game early in this streak against the Nats that also felt that way, though.

In fairness on the Conteras at-bat, he called a bad strike and then called a ball on an obvious strike, so it evened out in that AB.

It’s a pretty puzzling decision. Sometimes people make bad calls in the moment, applies to baseball, applies to life. He’s probably asking himself the same thing right now.

Siegler is going down soon at some point anyway. He’s on a short list with Black of guys who wouldn’t be here if we were at full health.

Coaches are generally intelligent enough not to order a bunt with 2 outs. Siegler almost assuredly made the call.

Seems like a great way to ensure that you no longer occasionally crack the lineup.

If Chourio is on 3rd with 2 outs and you think you can sneak a bunt single RBI in, that’s totally different and potentially very smart. With Chourio on 2nd it really makes no sense. Even if you lay it down perfectly and somehow reach, now all you’ve done is just deferred to the next guy hoping he can drive him in.

Can’t say if he did that on his own, but yeah, that’s not a situation to try to lay one down.

Gilbert is good enough without needing to give him a couple inches out of the zone.

Miz is incredibly gifted, but there are going to be some nights when he’s not very efficient. Tonight would be one of them.

Yeah, I agree. This is all probably a moot point. Unless a team is in a hopelessly deep rebuild, even most sellers aren’t interested in selling their controllable young talent.
