  1. Same. I kept my mouth shut because Seigler at least got the RBI. But I thought the process sucked.
  2. That would be the perfect role for him. But right now, he’s a liability batting 4 times per day.
  3. You’ve got a man on 3rd with 2 outs, so you need a hit to score him, and you take a fastball right down the middle with 2 strikes. Get Joey off that lineup card already.
  4. Calling a .560 OPSish hitter being in a “mini-slump” is about the most generous way I’ve ever heard the term “mini-slump” used.
  5. Yeah I’m going to be transparent, I’d be venting up a storm right now for doing that in front of Seigler if Seigler had failed.
  6. Gotta have better baserunning from Chourio than we’ve gotten out of him the last few days.
  7. Overpay? They gave up the 24th ranked prospect in their system at a position of surplus who was about to be exposed in the Rule 5 draft anyway. Jansen makes us better. He’s better than Haase. He does things well that we are weak at - hits for power, and hits LHP. You want to make moves, but you’re not happy when we make them. You hated the Priester trade and said it wasn’t a significant move because “we all thought we overpaid at the time” which makes no sense at all, since we did give up significant assets and also got a significant return for what Priester has been. You want Suarez, but you said you wouldn’t give up Logan Henderson, which is fine, but then you complain that we’re not making big moves. We can’t just get them on the phone and offer Tyler Black and call it a day. Many other teams are interested, we are not bidding against ourselves. You want to go all-in, but you also don’t want to pay up for anything. You can’t have it both ways. Is there anything this organization can do to please you? Like, honestly asking, what specific move or move(s) are you looking for them to make?
  8. With all respect to Frelick - Kwan is better. And even if they’re similar, adding another Frelick to the roster makes us better. If you don’t think Kwan is a difference maker, I’d be curious to know who your realistic trade targets are.
  9. This is why we need to understand that the scope of what we know about player injuries and player medical is extremely limited. Pat Murphy is not perfect, but he is not some idiot. If he thought Contreras could be made right with a little rest or even a couple weeks on the IL, that would have already happened.
  10. I want to root for Yoho and like Yoho, but you can’t do that. Totally inexcusable. You’re up 4 runs with 1 out to go. There’s no effective difference between a walk and a HR. Throw freaking strikes.
  11. Obviously I would have agreed with it being a strike. And I do want to see robots, or at least the challenge system from the AS game. All I’m saying is, with the system we currently have, on an 0-2 count, in reality, that pitch in that exact location gets called a strike maybe 50% of the time. This isn’t just something I’m pulling out of my rear end. A 2018 study from Baseball Prospectus and Statcast shows that umpires are 15% more likely to call a strike on a borderline 3-0 pitch, and 12% less likely to call one on a borderline 0-2 pitch. Unfortunately, it ended up being very big that it did not go our way, but it was not egregiously in the strike zone like some pitches we saw against Seattle and Miami.
  12. Joey Ortiz is one guy I would like to see a lot less of in the lineup after the trade deadline.
  13. Cry me a river. I’m as critical as anyone of the umps every night, if you’ve read any gamethread, and I’m constantly calling for robots. So no, you’re wrong. I’ve been calling for robots for longer than yourself. But I’m not so much of a homer that I’m going to get all bent out of shape about an extremely close pitch that probably gets called close to 50/50 in reality.
  14. He definitely should at least be dropped in the order for now. 99% of Brewer fans would have felt much better with Vaughn or Durbin coming up after the two walks, and rightfully so.
  15. It was a super borderline 0-2 pitch. Wasn’t egregiously bad. He actually got 2 calls his way later, but the 0-2 pitch to Suzuki could have gone either way. Blaming the score on that isn’t it.
  16. You really didn’t get the point of anything I said, did you l? There’s nothing they could have to guarantee better results in 2021. There’s nothing they could have done to guarantee better results in 2023. They could have sacrificed the 2025 team for a better shot in those years, if that’s what you’re advocating. What are the massive trades that small market clubs made at the deadline in previous years that was the needle mover in them winning it all?
