  1. Because I'm so hard on him generally, I'll say Sedar did the right thing there. Hill wouldn't have made it. Good to see us capitalize!
  2. Drink one for every Brewer stranded at the end of an inning. Take a shot every time the Brewers strike out with runners in scoring position.
  3. Lucroy, Hill, Smith, Guerra (4, under) I'll also predict post deadline August trades of both Garza and Torres.
  4. Jimmy is basically the 3rd best starting pitcher that our farm system has produced in the last 25 years. Think about how sad that is.
  5. I figured a visit from the Brewers would be sufficient to cure whatever it is that ails Wainwright this year.
  6. I've seen this posted before and I find it hard to believe considering over half of the roster is turned over every year. Heck, tonight only Braun, Lucroy, and Garza played for the Brewers last year. I doubt that we actually are, it just feels like it.
  7. I will say it's getting really tiresome to see the Cardinals own us year in and year out. It's getting pretty embarrassing, almost like we're intimidated.
  8. I can't speak much to Lester's field problems, but Garza's are so bad that he can receive a simple comebacker, and you hold your breath because a great deal of the time, he cannot make a simple throw with time to first base. Forgot about trying to turn 2. It's a serious issue with Garza.
  9. Turn down a lifetime pension and health benefits and a $500,000 minimum salary? I got 3 kids, my hatred of the cards ain't worth that much.
  10. Was it just me or was Hill dogging it down the line? Sure didn't seem to be running too hard for that close of a play.
  11. Transaction rules question : Player has a $20M/year contract and a no-trade clause, or 10/5 rights. Player is placed on waivers by Team A in August. Team B decides to claim Player, owing no compensation but on the hook for the rest of his contract, and Team A decides to allow the salary dump and not revoke. Is player now obligated to move to Team B even though he has a full NTC?
  12. I haven't at all been a believer in what Garza did his first few games. You can only give up a .323 BAA for so many games before your mirage ERA gets exposed for what it is.
  13. Garza has to be the worst fielding pitcher in baseball. I mean he is just awful.
  14. It always kind of surprises me in St. Louis the lack of reaction to Braun. They seem pretty indifferent to him, relative to most MLB team fans anyway.
  15. Carter has been a great pickup. Not too many 40 HR guys available out there in free agency for 3 million bucks.
  16. Garza has a 2.81 ERA and .323 BAA. One of those figures isn't going to last long.
  17. Anyone know what our strand rate is this year for runner on 2nd/0 out, runner on 3rd/0 or 1 out? It feels like it has to be among the worst.
  18. I agree, there's no real motivation to trade Guerra. We've restocked with enough low level lottery tickets for now and Guerra is worth more than that to us. Just keep him. If he gets dealt as part of a needed throw in on a bigger deal like Fiers last year, fine. Otherwise, he's either worth a lot more at this time next year, or maybe even part of our contending rotation in 2-3 years. Or he flops back down to earth and we've lost pretty much nothing by holding him anyway.
  19. I guess I just kind of disagree with the logic. Even the best lineups, if you can improve it, will help improve your team overall, even if it doesn't address your weaknesses. It's like a team with 4 aces and a #5 in their rotation. They sure don't need another ace, but they still get a lot better if they get one. Boston's only concern should be how much better they get at catcher with Lucroy than Vasquez, and the answer is a lot. It's about as massive of an upgrade as they can make without improving the rotation. There's a good article that illustrates my point up in post 105. Junior Guerra might be an interesting add-on for extra value packaged with Lucroy to Boston.
  20. Well, Davies was due for a regression. He's a fine back end of the rotation guy, but we couldn't expect him to keep pitching like an ace.
  21. Looked like Flores could have made a play on that.
  22. I really don't care for Villar's relaxed stance, 'I'm 100% taking this pitch, a la Bill Hall. Starting to see that from him a lot more. Good job by Davies working out of trouble in the 1st.
  23. I have no clue why Gonzalez was ejected for that. Yeah, if it was our guy, I would have been pretty irked. That being said, Gonzales was wrong. He went around.
