  1. with Kottaras/Ransom/Izturis coming up? not very likely. I'm hoping for a Kottaras walk, a Ransom K on a wild pitch, an Izturis sac bunt, an Aoki HBP, a Gomez sac fly, and a Braun salami (GRAND salami, you sickos). Hmm. Kottaras is on first on the strikeout to Ransom, so Ransom is out on that strikeout even with the wild pitch. You'll need 2 wild pitches, one for George to advance first.
  2. So, 4 pitch or 5 pitch walk for Veras to walk in the winning run?
  3. George almost has to swing at anything on 3-1, with the murderer's row of Ransom/Izturis coming up.
  4. If that 0-2 pitch to Dunn wasn't a strike, we should just be able to sit at the plate and take walks the rest of the game.
  5. Fortunately, Dunn is a player you can just as easily get 4 strikes on as 3.
  6. This is why I am totally okay with making human umps unemployed and giving the game to machines. An 0-2 pitch to Dunn in a huge situation, right down main street, called a ball, just because it was 0-2. Are you kidding me?
  7. Not that it should come as any surprise, but both Mayonset and Perez cleared waivers and are headed back to Nashville.
  8. Ransom and Izturis both suck. A lot. I don't think it really matters which one of them starts at SS.
  9. Can we all agree that we should definitely be buying out Wolf's option next year, not paying it?
  10. I agree, it's a ridiculous line of thinking. You don't want to set him Greinke for the loss? I'd rather not set up the Milwaukee Brewers for the loss.
  11. This is just such a pointless move, other than the fact that I guess it gives us some depth there if Mayonset winds back up in AAA. Otherwise, it's worthless -- Izturis brings nothing to the table over what we currently have, we are no better with him.
  12. Something about seeing Izturis back in the lineup makes me want to punch things. I really hope this is not a permanent basis thing.
  13. Villanueva was coming off of a 5.34 ERA in 2009 and a 4.61 ERA as a reliever in 2010 for us. I don't think anyone was really that upset to see him go at the time.
  14. I would just leave them. It's been a bullpen problem, not just an Axford problem. I guess you can flip Axford and K-Rod if you want, but I don't know that it's going to accomplish anything.
  15. I really don't know what they are going to do next year to fix this. A lot of people don't think that Thornburg has the stamina to make it in the rotation, so he'd be a nice addition to the bullpen, but being our #1 pitching prospect, I'd hate to see him wasted in the pen. Really, relievers are hit and miss every year, so I generally see putting a lot of FA money into the bullpen every year as a bad investment. So I'm not really sure what they should do going forward other than make Stan Kyles a scapegoat.
  16. Honestly, I believe our lineup is fine. The only real weakness once Lucroy returns is SS, and as you guys mentioned, Ransom/Mayonest, while unspectacular, have been adequate. Ramirez is having that summer run that he always does, and when it's all said and done, he will most likely be that 25-30 HR/100 RBI guy that he's always been. I really do think Weeks is finally coming around, too. The problem has been the bullpen. That's the difference between us contending and being 6 under .500 right now.
  17. It could also be GM-speak for "bring a legit offer or don't even bother" I find it insanely hard to believe that, if the Brewers wind up selling, that they'd have some moronic & arbitrary rule about not dealing their most valuable realistically-tradeable chip. But I do have to say, my first reaction on reading that quip was basically summed up in your post. I've just taken some more time to try & digest that snippet... and perhaps am talking nonsense to calm down my panic I agree, I think it has to be GM posturing. I can't fathom that we would be sellers and NOT sell Greinke. There is no logic behind that. I also don't buy the argument that trading Greinke is going to prevent us from signing him in the offseason. I don't see that making a difference. People often try to make free agency more political than it really is. Most of the time, it's not. If he becomes a free agent, and I think at this point it's almost certain that he will, he will probably take the best and biggest offer his agent gets, just like 95% of other free agents. If that team is us, he'll be back, regardless of whether or not we trade him mid-season or not. If not, he'll be going elsewhere anyway. He's not going to leave millions of dollars on the table to play for a quieter city because of an overblown anxiety issue.
  18. Offense now 4th in the NL in RPG and pitching 14th. I'm still puzzled as to why the general fan tendency has been to blame the offense.
  19. Cover your eyes... CL Axford - 5.60 ERA SU Rodriguez - 3.90 ERA RP Parra - 4.41 ERA RP Dillard - 4.45 ERA RP Veras - 3.90 ERA RP Perez - 5.14 ERA RP Loe - 3.16 ERA I'd feel better if we had at least 1 or 2 dominant guys to build the pen around and then go from there to build the rest of the pen. But it's just complete mediocrity all the way around.
