  1. It occurred to me that maybe you meant top 5-10 in the conference, but if so, referring to a top 5-10 team in a 16 team conference as a “Super Bowl contender” is awfully generous.
  2. Probably top 5? Philadelphia, Kansas City, Washington, Buffalo, Baltimore, and Detroit were all indisputably better and closer, so we certainly weren’t top 5. We were in that “fringe” group with the Rams, Vikings, and Texans, Chargers, Broncos and Bucs. And have done really nothing to separate ourselves from that group. Every team has a Marshawn Lloyd or Lukas Van Ness that *could* step up and make an impact. Yes, if Jordan Love plays really well we could contend for a Super Bowl. That’s exactly where we were at in the entire Aaron Rodgers era. Hoping for our QB to play like an MVP for us to contend. The defense should be “pretty good”, but we still don’t have the pass rush to be a team carried by our defense.
  3. I understand the feelings of pessimism in regard to the upcoming season. We weren’t really close to a Super Bowl last year; honestly, we were further away than the previous year and we haven’t done anything to really improve upon last year. Everyone says “wait for the draft” like everyone doesn’t get the draft and like Gute is some draft wizard that works magic and adds huge immediate difference makers in the draft every year. Could we take the next step this season? Sure, but you’re talking about the new offensive line meshing, Love playing at a Pro Bowl level and LVN or another edge rusher breaking out. A lot of things which would have to break right. Including good health.
  4. A new season of Black Mirror just dropped though…
  5. Jack of all trades, master of none. It’s fine for a depth piece if it happens, just keep the money and expectations low.
  6. I did read them, that’s why I said it. You have 56 posts on the board and all you really do is criticize other posters and “thumbs down” other people’s posts. You complain about negativity when that’s literally all you’ve had to offer this board. That’s my point.
  7. He tried to do too much that AB on 0-2, but I also get it. Would rather see that than caught looking 0-2.
  8. This is ironic. Do any of your posts contribute anything to this forum other than complaining about other people complaining?
  9. Can someone explain to me what baseball related thing that Oliver Dunn does well that makes him worthy of a MLB level roster spot?
  10. We are going to lose a series that we completely dominated, aren’t we?
  11. Capra isn’t an MLB caliber player. He’s just not.
  12. Payamps is completely unplayable this year.
  13. Hoskins has not exactly been validating anyone who thought he would be improved this year. Looks even worse. At least he had power last year if nothing else.
  14. Which I thought was strange because Victor Wembanyana had the same blood clot condition before Dame and they pretty much announced immediately that he was done for the season, But I’m no doctor so just assuming there must be different degrees of severity of what the two have.
  15. Even to get to that 5% I think you have to have Dame back. I haven’t heard much lately but I know the thought was that he’s hopefully not lost for the season. There’s no point in having him try to play any more regular season games, though.
  16. Haven’t looked it up but pretty sure the Bucks are about to pull one of the biggest 4th quarter comebacks in NBA history. They were down 24 with 10 minutes left and are going to win.
  17. You can’t have Yelich and Contreras batting in the heart of the order if you can’t even trust them to advance a leadoff triple.
  18. So what’s a realistic “goal” for the playoffs? Win the 1st round matchup with Indiana and at least have competitive games with Cleveland?
  19. Freeland usually gives us fits, awesome to see us get to him today.
  20. Great to see Contreras with a big 2 out RBI.
  21. I’m so sick of Yelich’s production already. Thank goodness they didn’t pitch around Chourio to get to him, which I expected.
  22. Yeah, there’s a zillion pitchers out there under 25 who lost some development to COVID who have a 5+ pitch mix. Very few of them are going to turn out worthy enough to hold Corbin Burnes’ jock, much less turn out to be his comparable.
  23. Wow, putting “sounds like” and “Burnes” in the same paragraph of this thread is, uh, optimistic to say the least. I think his ceiling is the middle of the rotation. He’d need to add some pretty good velocity to his fastball to be mentioned in the same sentence as Corbin Burnes, who, not for nothing, was a 4th round pick.
  24. If they’re doing this trade, they’re very confident that they can work magic with Priester — and they better be right. This is a significant haul for a young pitcher who hasn’t had great results so far.
