  1. Hall has been at least 2 outs less productive than I would have been tonight by just going out to the batters box, getting in my stance, and closing my eyes.
  2. Well, that sucked. 2 out runs hurting us.
  3. I was pretty impressed with Kendall's defensive skills the first week of the season. Not so much since then.
  4. Sheesh, not only can't we move them in the field because of continuinty, we can't even move them around in a non-physical entity like a lineup? Hart is going to go up to the plate and be lost because he's batting 3rd with Braun out and can't figure out what's going on? I'd like to think that our players are professional enough where moving them in the lineup won't turn their 2 for 5 day into an 0 for 4 day.
  5. Ankiel should not be standing on base right now. That 0-2 pitch to him was absolutely perfect, better than the 0-2 pitch that Weeks got called out on in the top half.
  6. You think Gross in CF is an adventure? Well then you would really hate Dillon trying to play it. True, but I still don't understand why they don't have Hart in CF. Any adjustment he would have to go through would be a lot less than of a price to pay for the outfield defense than letting Kapler and Gross play out of position the entire month.
  7. Brian just called Schumaker "scrappy." Everyone drinking take a drink.
  8. Well, that was an uneventful top of the 1st...Dillon hit it hard, at least.
  9. I know what I'd do. Gwynn to AAA, McClung released, Bush to the bullpen. Sucks for Gwynn, but what choice do we have? We have options with him and can move him freely between AAA and MLB, a luxury we don't have with Gross. Gwynn isn't going to have much of a role after Cameron gets back anyway. Better for him to see the field in AAA every day rather than warming the bench up here for the big league club. Kapler has earned his way to staying as a 4th outfielder, and the fact that Dillon can play anywhere on the diamond is a good argument to keep him around. As far as McClung, I'd love to wait and see if he can locate his 100 MPH fastball and be able to be consistently effective. Problem is, it's not 2004. We don't have the luxury of trotting Seth out there every few games to try to work out his kinks. Bush will be a good, servicable long reliever who can spot start in a pinch and give us multiple innings. Then we can go with the rotation that we really want, with Sheets, Gallardo, Suppan, Parra, and Villanueva, and then everyone on the team has a pretty defined role.
  10. He wasn't a quality setup man and the team gave up a king's ransom to get him. Thatcher went to the Padres and out pitched him last year. Yeah, I hate how much we gave up for Linebrink who left anyway. Thatcher was pretty dominant in the last half of the season for the Padres last year. It's still too small of a sample size to put a whole lot of stock into, as are his struggles this season. Inman is the Padres' top pitching prospect. The good news is, it's not a total loss. We do get the two early draft picks for Linebrink that we wouldn't have had otherwise. That's looking 5 years down the road, but if one of those picks turns out to be a franchise player for us, we'll remember this. We got Hardy in the 2nd round in 2001, and Gallardo in the 2nd round in 2004. These are the kind of picks we're getting, between the first and second round. So hopefully at least one is a big success up here.
  11. Hmm. The Mets didn't have any problem being productive with 2nd and 3rd and nobody out.
  12. Here's an idea, Ned....how about having Corey Hart, who can actually play CF, play CF, rather than trotting Gross and Kapler out there every day and having it cost us runs every day on balls that Cameron, Gwynn, or Hart would have had? Wait, that's right, we need Corey to have a warm fuzzy now so he doesn't have to make the traumatic move from CF to RF when Cameron returns.
  13. No chance at beating Santana when squandering opportunities like 1st and 3rd, 1 out. Disappointing, but unfortunately not that surprising.
  14. It doesn't bother me that much that we're 6-4. What bothers me is that we don't look much like a playoff team. Two hits against Nelson Figuroa with this lineup is completely unacceptable, and every single one of them was to blame tonight. If Braun and Prince don't turn it around within 5 more games, stop with this Prince at #3 and Braun at #4 experiment. It didn't work last year and it's not working so far. When we ended it, we did better. We don't need to re-adjust the lineup to give Braun 10 more chances to run this year. All I know is, if we managed two hits against Figuroa, we may as well go up to the plate blindfolded against Santana.
  15. I'd agree with the comments about Yost being a little too defensive of his players at times. It seems to be the case after every loss. If the offense gets shut down, then the opposing pitcher was lights-out. If the pitcher gets shelled, the opposing offense was just making good swings all day. If the defense was making mistakes, they were really tough plays. Now I'm glad he doesn't hang his players out to dry, don't get me wrong, but you can hold the guys (and yourself) accountable once in awhile. They are professionals. They can handle it.
  16. Well, seeing Prince hit routine fly balls has become commonplace this season. At least it's only the 8th game.
  17. - Ned, in the 7th inning, in a close game, NO pitcher, much less your starting pitcher, should give up 5 consecutive hits. That's not doing your job. - I know it's Harang, but does this lineup besides Kendall plan on doing anything in the near future? I hope they realize that Jason Kendall is not the guy who can carry them all season. Prince is getting painful to watch. It's not only that he's not showing any power, it's that he's not even usually coming close. Someone please get this guy a nice, juicy steak. - All in all, a stinkbomb of a series. We were completely outclassed at home by a supposedly inferior division opponent. We were lucky not to get swept. Doesn't bode well.
  18. I'm going to start confusing Prince with TGJ with the amount of pop he's getting on the ball.
  19. Like I said, if the game is on FSN locally, I'm not going to worry about watching it on MLB.TV. I don't count on MLB.TV as a source for most of my Brewer games. But when it is not available on any television for me, cable or not, I don't see why I should be prevented from watching it at all, especially when I'm already paying MLB for a separate service outside of my regular cable.
  20. Ned, Bush is a 5 inning pitcher. I watched you plenty of times last year trot him out there in the 6th, only to give up a couple runs before you finally said, "Okay, now that the damage is done, I'll make a move!" I don't think I'll enjoy it any more than I did last season.
  21. Well, I don't see how this is really a reason to black out the game. Do they really think I'm going to choose watching the game on my PC if watching it on my television is available?
  22. Yost takes the same approach to Bush as he did in the 6th and 7th last year: "Okay, I'll let them do the damage first and THEN I'll pull him."
  23. Bush, what are you doing?? Are you not comfortable pitching with the lead? EDIT: Prince, pay attention.
  24. I read that and my immediate instinctive thought was, "We can option Yost down to AAA?" Then my brain clicked half a second later and I got it, but it still made me laugh.
  25. WTG Braun!! I thought that was going to be a heartbreaking double off the wall.
