  1. Sounds like Bush is definitely out of the rotation when Sheets is healthy.
  2. Weeks needs to start changing his approach with 2 strikes a little bit. Seems like every time he strikes out, he's doing so with the bat sitting right on his shoulders.
  3. This isn't really so much a vent, but it doesn't really belong anywhere else. I'm a little annoyed at Bill's thinking of the 3rd game of the series being a "gravy day" if you've already won the first 2 games of the series. The 3rd game of the series is just another regular season game. It is not worth less than if you're going for the series win, or looking to salvage a game. It is worth the exact same as the other 161 games. A "series" is nothing more than a set of 2-4 games played at a single location. But it's not like a sport where you play 3 sets or 5 sets, and need to win the majority to take the match. Every one counts. We haven't won a "gravy day" on the road since 2004. The approach to a game should be no different just because we have that mentality that we've already won the series.
  4. What's the latest on Capuano? The last we heard was a 3 week rehab that could avoid surgery if it worked. It's been close to 3 weeks, I wonder how his progress is coming...
  5. I wish all of Gagne's saves could be like that one.
  6. We are doing way, way too much looking on 3-2 today.
  7. "Ohhhhhhh!!" the Reds fans groan at the pitch approximately 1 foot off the plate.
  8. Good start to the inning Hardy.
  9. That was a little too close. Great job Mota. Let's get about 8 runs here in the 10th so we can just let Stetter or McClung finish.
  10. That was a dangerous, dangerous pitch to Griffey.
  11. No, it was a good pitch, and Rickie just stared at it.
  12. Here's where we put other relievers besides Gagne in because it's a tie game on the road, they score and it's over, and then people try to justify it as a good decision because "who would save the game then when we took the lead??"
  13. Would be nice to hang a loss on CoCo.
  14. What baffles me is how many times I've seen Yost sitting in the dugout, watching ants run around on the dugout floor, as Bush gets shelled in the 6th or 7th. Then the one time he actually makes a move immediately, it's when Suppan is rolling at 85 pitches, and it backfires.
  15. As Jim pointed out, you've got a lefty killer in the pen and Suppan is prone to giving up HR, one swing could tie it. If Shouse does the job here. Brewers just have one more inning to get though to get it to you closer. I wish Suppan could have gotten that last out, but smart move. Well, one swing tied it all right.
  16. I don't get this at all. Soup is cruising along, only around 85 pitches and 2 hits today through 6 2/3, and he gives up a little dribbler single and immediately gets the hook?
  17. Well, Hardy's a little bit overrated defensively, to be honest. But I agree, we don't need him to be a power hitter for us -- 15 HR is fine. I would love to see him develop into a more high OBP kind of guy.
  18. You know, for about the first 2 months of the season, J.J. Hardy looked like Mark McGwire with the kind of power he had. He hasn't since then, and he never really did before last season. It's just really weird.
  19. I guess I can accept that strike zones may vary slightly from umpire to umpire, but an inconsistent strike zone is completely unacceptable, and Suppan is getting squeezed compared to what Cueto was getting. The first pitch to Encarnacion wasn't even close. Hey, how about giving Suppan the corner that you just gave to Cueto on 3 pitches?
  20. I was wondering the same thing. That was a perfect pitch.
  21. Cueto is getting an extremely generous strike zone to throw at today.
