  1. Bush is doing his best to make this an easy choice when Gallardo returns.
  2. Is Bush's fastball really sitting in the mid-80's today? Bad throw by Hart, bad catch by Kendall costs us 2 runs. A good throw gets Phillips easily. Corey caught that ball and got it out of there very nonchalantly.
  3. Every year, subscribers of MLB.TV are subject to the same outdated blackout restrictions. I'm not sure whether MLB is to blame, or the networks, but neither seem to care much that the fans are the ones inconvenienced, so long as MLB or the networks don't have to pay. For example: - Why are road games blacked out? Should I really be punished for not attending the game down in Colorado? Is there really one Brewer fan in Wisconsin that's going to say, "Hmm, I was going to head down to Texas to watch the game, but since I see I can watch it on my computer, I'll just do that." Of course not. It's ridiculous. Why restrict the fans from watching the game when it's not going to cost anyone any money to let them see it anyway??? - Even sold out games are blacked out. Can someone explain this? I thought the whole purpose of the blackout was to encourage attendance of the game. How am I going to attend it if it's sold out? - The restrictions of some zip code range are absurd. I think there are some ZIPs that have six or seven teams included in their blackout restriction. So they are going to make damn sure that any team that you might possibly be a fan of, you WON'T get to watch. It sure feels like the current blackout restrictions policy is long outdated, and I think it's frustrating that it's just been shrugged off every year. Is there anyone at MLB who we might contact to ask to look at the current blackout restrictions in place?
  4. Prince Fielder's girlfriend gives him a book. The book convinces Prince Fielder to become a vegetarian. Prince had 1 spring training homerun and 0 regular season homeruns through 7 games. I don't like Prince Fielder's girlfriend.
  5. Yes they are, but having to shake off a catcher who isn't calling how you like can disrupt a pitchers rhythm and make them feel less comfortable. Also, like Sheets said after Sunday, thinking gets in the way of pitching. True, but there are a million different things that can disrupt a pitchers rhythm and make them feel less comfortable. Having runners on base, giving up a homerun, giving up a walk, etc. etc. I'm not saying it's irrelevant, but I don't think it counts for much.
  6. That doesn't do us folks outside of the Milwaukee area much good, though.
  7. I'll never buy much into the "he calls a good game" theory, since the pitcher is really the final decision-maker anyway. Maybe it's a factor, but I really don't see it. That being said, I definitely think Kendall is good for this ballclub.
  8. Man, I really hope someday I can call four million dollars "peanuts"... Well, that depends how you look at it. Four million may seem fairly significant, but if we're talking about percentages 42M vs. 46M, we're talking a differential of 9% or so. I guess that's open to debate how significant of a difference that is. I don't have a problem with the fact that he left for 4 extra million. I have a problem with the fact that he didn't even give Melvin a chance to make a counter-offer, or even tell Melvin what his offer from the Reds was. Doesn't seem he really was invested in staying here.
  9. A relief pitcher who can throw triple digits, and a gold-glove potential centerfielder who could probably go ahead and start right now for some MLB clubs. If we could move them for a team looking to fill some holes earlier, we might be able to solve our own problems at the same time. Bush could go to long relief, Parra could stay up, and we'd still have Kapler, Dillon, and Gross off the bench. We'd be just fine. What do you think we could get for those two? Maybe a decent prospect? Other possible options could be Bush/Gwynn if we wanted to stick with McClung in the pen, or perhaps McClung/Gross or Bush/Gross. I'm not counting on Kapler or Dillon being worth much, if anything, in a trade, so I didn't include them.
  10. Why Wes Helms? Sheffield I can definitely understand but I don't understand the mass irrational hate for Wes Helms that many seem to have had the last few years. It's not like he was lazy or a cancer. For the answer to the original question, I can definitely understand if Cordero gets booed, I wouldn't have a problem with it at all. Jenkins being booed would be a travesty.
  11. The FSN camera angles are RIDICULOUS. What are they doing??? I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt a week ago but it's EVERY GAME. They're ruining very good plays or hits by not even letting us see them!
  12. The good thing is, this will hopefully be the last year that we'll have to worry about this. Assuming Parra doesn't run into any health problems this year and goes about how many innings we're expecting, we can pretty much take the leash off him next year. I wish they would just skip Parra and therefore maximize Sheets' starts, too. I don't understand why they won't, unless they're worried about overworking Sheets and him being injuried. But Sheets' injury history doesn't appear to be anything that was the result of being overworked. But since it doesn't appear they're going to do that, they have a few choices: 1 - Move him to the pen for a month or two, then move him back to the rotation for the rest of the season. 2 - Send him down to AAA, then limit and shorten his starts in AAA. Call him back up this summer. 3 - Send him out there every 5th day, roll the dice and let him throw the 185-195 innings that he could easily end up throwing. Option 3 would probably be foolish. Option 1 is similar to what they did with Gallardo last season. Since they have Bush, I would imagine they'll be going with Option 2.
  13. Hall had better not be getting the green light much this season. Stealing bases just isn't his stength, that goes back to overaggression. However, Hall's steal of second with 2 outs and Hart up was a good steal situation, so I didn't mind that much. Well, especially since he made it, but even if he hadn't, I would have understood that one.
  14. The rotation is quite crowded right now. They have no reason to rush Parra or Villy, there is all kinds of flexibility there. The problem is, Bush still has to give them the #1 reason to keep him in the rotation, that of course being him pitching effectively enough to be there. If he can't, Parra and Villy should stay up. Both are more than major-league ready.
  15. Now THAT was more like it! Not an especially well-played game today, but the Milwaukee Brewers have come a long ways to be able to not play very well and still get a win. Gagne looked much better, and that was the most important thing we saw IMO.
  16. Well, it's time for Gagne's next audition. He's had a few days rest, and this isn't a daunting lineup he's facing. Earn your $10M, Eric.
  17. Cripes. Good job by Prince digging that out. For a backup catcher that we kept for his defense, Rivera has been a butcher today.
  18. Like I said. Sometimes the corners don't exist, sometimes they extend by several inches off the plate. At least that one went in our favor.
  19. Did Bill just call the Giants "scrappy"?
  20. I have absolutely had it with this homeplate umpire. Sometimes the corners extend 3-4 inches off the plate, sometimes they don't even exist at all.
  21. Damn I thought Rickie hit that one out off the crack of the bat.
  22. Riske won't be perfect every day, but good job getting out of it. Mota or Turnbow for the 8th?
  23. Poor defense has added a good 30 pitches onto our pitcher's arms today.
  24. Come ON. No error there, but I'd charge 'em with one if it was possible. Defense has been garbage today.
