  1. Yeah, Lockridge would get more starts. Frelick can also play CF if needed. Not ideal because Collins probably has to go to RF to accommodate Yelich in LF. I don’t think you can really play Yelich anywhere in the field except LF at this point in his career unless it’s on an emergency basis. But they could limp by for a couple weeks assuming Chourio makes it back by the end of August. My guess is Lockridge would start most days.
  2. I brought that up on page 5 as well, but at the time I mentioned it was probably going to be a red herring as he would probably be non-tendered next year anyway, which is looks like I’ll be mistaken about. Adam McCalvy has been a beat writer for long enough where he should be well versed on the 172 day big league requirement for a full service year and should know that can be easily manipulated in a 185-190 day season with a short trip to the minors. I mean that with no disrespect to @wiguy94who is indeed an intelligent poster.
  3. It was his 3rd 0 for 5 in 114 games. It will occasionally happen when you hit at the top of the lineup every day.
  4. Yup. There’s basically no difference between a solo HR and a walk up 5-3 in the 9th. That pitch may have been a little *too* good, but I’d much rather him pound the zone and get ahead than nibble and then all of the sudden be down 3-1 and lose him.
  5. He’s probably fine. His numbers are still reliable enough. You’ve got other guys who will be under a bit of an innings watch. And you just traded Cortes who was probably the biggest threat to Quintana. That said, I wouldn’t expect to see him get the ball to start any playoff game.
  6. I know it’s become cliche to criticize the lineups when Seigler is in it, but let me put this another way. Durbin has been improving throughout the season, particularly against right handed pitching. He’s too good to all of the sudden find himself on the weak end of a platoon and has earned better than that.
  7. Collins looked a little irritated. Not sure if with himself for a bad jump or with Yelich for not making contact on a designed hit and run.
  8. It seems like you started off this post with one point and then changed your mind on it by the end of it.
  9. Yep. Another thing to keep in mind is that we waived Lauer before outrighting him. Every team in baseball could have had him for no compensation, just pay him, and every team in baseball chose not to. There will always occasionally be guys that, for whatever reason, things don’t click here long-term and they end up figuring it out elsewhere. It’s usually the other way around, but other teams have professionals who are trying to do the same things we are. Sometimes, it clicks elsewhere, and that’s ok. We’re too good of a team to have a ton of patience with everyone, and that’s a good thing. In general, our track record says pitchers are more likely to come here and get right, than have it happen elsewhere. For those that the reverse is true, I congratulate them on their success and wish them the best.
  10. Did it with Burnes. Did it with Hader. Did it with Williams. Going back further, did it with Gallardo. Position players are a little different.
  11. Elias Sports Bureau will someday confirm that that was the most annoying 7-2 win ever.
  12. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with him. It’s just historical precedent in how we operate. We will move on a year early rather than get only the QO pick in return. It won’t be a monster truck haul. It will be something that is underwhelming to us but they like (see Burnes, Corbin).
  13. I want to strangle our pitchers tonight, which is amazing to say in a game that we’ve given up 1 run so far in the 7th.
  14. I think he’s a good pitcher. I just think with one year left on his deal, the way they operate, they will probably trade him in the offseason.
  15. I can’t believe he made it through 5. Much less with only 1 run allowed. Okay, it can pour now.
