I’m down with the scoreboard watching at this point of the season. We know that no one besides the Cubs is going to catch us, so every Cub loss is almost as important as a Brewer win.

They’re just going to insist on making this a close race in September with losses like this.

How many backwards K’s is that this series for Brice? It’s at least 4. Might be 5.

As much as I appreciate the Lockridge 5+ pitch ABs, we needed baserunners this inning, not a few pitches and then a grounder. Don’t know why you don’t go to Collins there.

On the plus side there is very little call on the board these days for Contreras to sit for a few days to get his wrist right.

Really, really frustrating game because you’d figure we would have to score a lot to win and yet it’s been there for the taking.

I’ve defended Jansen a lot but he’s offered us very little.

Sometimes, indeed. Sometimes it’s more about the situation. Contreras laces one to CF but it gives us nothing where a weak ground ball to the right side advances the runner. Not criticizing Contreras, just saying it’s not always about how hard it’s hit.

Can’t be stranding that lead off double in a 1 run game with the heart of the order up.

With respect to Fedde’s scoreless line, he doesn’t look very good to me. But I mean, who is going to be good this time of year that is available off the street. You’re just hoping for short-term small sample lucky results.

Yeah, pretty much any guy out there can run into luck on any given day and produce 4-5 scoreless. I’m sure that’s exactly what we’re hoping for. We all know Fedde is just a bandaid that probably won’t be here in a month. We just need some reinforcements to help weather the storm. And hey, a win/win for him too since he’ll be able to get a ring after the season. 😁

I actually think Megill going in IL is a good thing. He clearly hasn’t been quite right. He’s clearly gassed. Rather than try to push him through, get him rested now and healthy for the most important stretch of the season.
