    I have (obviously) been a big critic of both Hoskins and Bauers but I will say one thing -- they have both had some big moments this year.

    Our entire season on the line and the second pitcher out of our pen is Mears. You have to be kidding me. I wasn't against pulling Tobias after 5 before, but I am if this was the option.

    He's not doing anything special, though. Any lineup with some patience would have scratched a couple runs across by this point.

    Anyone who believes in the old wives' tale that crusty old veterans hold up better under playoff pressure than young players should watch this series and compare the performance of guys like Hoskins and Adames to guys like Chourio, Turang, Mitchell and Myers.

    These AB's by the meat of the order veterans are absolutely hideous. Quintana is more than hittable right now but we're pressing.

    Contreras is hard to watch right now. Just an absolute mashable hanger on 3-2 and he's behind it and hits a lazy flyball.

    I get it. I won't second guess the decision. But I bet if you had polled Mets vets, the vast majority would have been happy to see Myers out of the game.

    I'm not saying that you're wrong, but this game script has, bullpen cracks, Murphy is second guessed on social media for the next 6 months, written all over it.

    Finally get the start that we need from a starting pitcher, so of course the bats are a complete and total no-show today.

    Myers is a top 2 pitcher in this rotation and he's not #2.

    Didn't show much interest in going after him. Can't say I blame them.

    Wish Brice would have just leaned into that one like Winker did instead of moving out of the way, it was in the exact same place.

    He leaned into it if anything. It was obvious and I was hoping they'd call it but of course they almost never do.
