  1. I think Ashby is going to yield to Priester as soon as he gets through Freeman to keep him available for Tuesday. We shall see.
  2. Also would add that I’m sure we had guys watching our pitchers much more closely than we were in the NLDS. Perhaps Mears had a few “yeah you got lucky, you missed your location badly but he didn’t put a good swing on it.” Or Gasser had a few “that was a really good pitch, that was just really great hitting.” Not saying either or both are or aren’t true, but I’m sure we have professionals in our organization watching those exact types of things. It’s just so hard to trust raw numbers in such a small sample size.
  3. Is it possible that Mears is someone they talked to after the series and they feel he’s just spent right now? The NLCS is more demanding than the NLDS in terms of days off. It’s definitely not performance related, Mears pitched well in the NLDS — but when they started leaning on him in September, he was really starting to struggle. Perhaps he’s a guy that they’ve identified who has little in the tank right now, they personally believe he’d struggle right now without a quick break, and the plan is to get him a week plus off and then get him back for hopefully the World Series. Whereas Myers has a pretty fresh arm right now. I don’t know, just a theory.
  4. So where do your allegiances lie in a Brewers/Mariners World Series? 👀
  5. I think we definitely have a chance to win. If I had to bet my life savings on it, my bet would be that at the end of this series, I will be bemoaning the major unfair advantage in baseball that large market teams like the Dodgers have over small markets like us, like I am at the end of most seasons. No matter what happens in this series, it won’t be nearly as disappointing as it would have been to drop the NLDS to the Cubs.
  6. Prefer Quintana over Priester to start to face Ohtani and Freeman early. Ideally you’d like to get past Freeman the second time through with Quintana and then go to Priester. Both Ohtani and Freeman are otherworldly against RHP and “only” very good against LHP. With that said I understand we won’t be able to platoon matchup on every AB, so we will see what they do. Other than those two the Dodgers are pretty RH heavy in the lineup. Which is why I’d prefer carrying 13 pitchers this time especially with the overall lack of days off compared to the NLDS. Considering we usually go with a defense heavy lineup anyway, there isn’t a major reason for a deep bench. Need Jansen obviously, Bauers, Mona, and Collins would be my last guy on the bench.
  7. How about Hall, Myers and Z and remove Gasser, Anderson and Lockridge?
  8. I don’t expect Dodger Stadium to be as tough psychologically as Wrigley Field. Dodger Stadium is more of a Hollywood vibe with casual fans rather than a hardcore baseball environment. Not that it won’t still be a hard place to win but more just because the Dodgers are very good rather than from the fan factor.
  9. 2-3-2 is fine. Take one game at home and one on the road and at least you give yourself a chance to finish back at home. Although I obviously hope we can do better than that. If we lose this series in 4 or 5 games then it wasn’t because of the format.
  10. This shouldn’t be this hard.
  11. Our corners can cover one on one for approximately 0.3 seconds it appears.
  12. At least they rallied with a nice drive. I would think that should do it, but I watched them play the Browns.
  13. First play after that long drive they call an end around to Bo Melton for 2 yards. The brilliance never ceases to amaze.
  14. What an absolutely sorry ass coached team.
  15. This team has the talent to be great. But it’s poorly coached on offense and special teams, and that will limit it to being good.
  16. Somehow they’ll give up 3 before half.
  17. Another special teams penalty. My God, Bisaccia. What do you do around here?
  18. MLF is fortunate to have a top defense and top DC. It helps cover up the stank of his highly mediocre head coaching and preparation.
  19. Literally putting your best blockers on your FG attempts might be the difference between 2-1-1 and 4-0. It’s comical how bad they are misevaluating the value of ST.
  20. A fair catch with no punt return which is also still somehow accompanied by a holding penalty. The clown show never ends with this special teams unit.
  21. Definitely a wide open NFC. Detroit is the team to beat at the moment, IMO.
  22. Remember the first two weeks when we thought we were one of the top teams in the NFL? We were so young, so naive.
  23. I’m in favor of carrying 13 pitchers with less rest days available. I would keep Collins over Lockridge. He’s a switch hitter, a little more versatile in an emergency, and his struggles are a little overstated. There were parts of the season that there wasn’t anyone you wanted up more in the clutch. Drop Lockridge and Gasser, add Myers, Hall, and Henderson if available.
  24. Well. If he’s going to be on this roster, he’s going to have to pitch. I think I’d trust him more at home than on the road.
  25. I don’t really care about beating Counsell either. Adds nothing to it for me. Although seeing him celebrate on our field would have been painful. Shutting up the Cub fans and their horribly obnoxious and salty streamers is pretty sweet. I honestly could have done without the L flag at the end of the game. Not a huge deal but definitely something they’ll remember. I would rather it have been more about us winning than them losing.
