  1. Upon the dismay of the host, I left a Packer Party early to get home to watch the final. And I wanted to see it from the start. Texas did to Nebraska exactly what they did to Wisconsin. So that removed quite a bit of the sting from Thursday. The Huskers looked worse against Texas than the Badgers did. Like I said above, Nebraska is a much better defensive team than Wisconsin.
  2. Just...wow. Surprised, but then again not surprised. The two weaknesses the team has had the last two seasons gets exploited again. DraftKings had the Badger's odds at 70% Just to think, Tennessee had Texas at match point in the "Sweet Sixteen", but couldn't finish. It was Skinner v Franklin for National POY, but that question was answered (I know, voting completed before the match). If you cannot pass the ball to the setter, the size of your front line is irrelevant. That's why they were short on all facets. Always interesting to which players "show up" in these moments. Should be interesting to see how Nebraska defends Skinner. Huskers known as a defensive team. The only silver lining I see is Wisconsin avoids losing the finals to LaRousa's Cardinals, err I mean Nebraska. Finally, talk about an IGT...193 pages!
  3. ON: P Joe Ross, signed P Taylor Clarke, acquired The 40-man roster is at 39.
  4. ON: P Wade Miley, signed OF Jackson Chourio, selected The 40-man roster is at 37.
  5. I haven't been in New England during the fall, so cannot offer an observance.
  6. I've been to New England and seen their love of the Red Sox. I'd say it could rival Packer Nation.
  7. Packers > Brewers > Bucks
  8. Rickie Weeks, IIRC. Wasn't he put on the 40-man immediately without options?
  9. Asking about youth hockey and/or HS hockey?
  10. And the Michigan QB that day was.........Jim Harbaugh.
  11. OFF: P Brandon Woodruff, non-tendered 1B Rowdy Tellez, non-tendered P J.C. Mejia, non-tendered ON: DH Jake Bauers, traded The 40-man roster is at 35.
  12. A non-tender wouldn't surprise me.
  13. OFF: 3B Abraham Toro, traded ON: C Jeferson Quero, selected P Bradley Blalock, selected 2B Oliver Dunn, traded The 40-man roster is at 36. One player on the restricted list.
  14. I can give you the 80's teams had better talent. But as sveumrules said, the spread of the payrolls were tighter then. Teams played a balanced schedule from 1977-1993, just as teams are playing balanced schedules now. Also not mentioned, the Free Agent Re-Entry Draft that existed prior to 1982. All teams had equal access to free agents back then. The current teams are doing without some of the resources the 80's teams had. I think that is what impresses me the most. Collusion occurred after 1983. IIRC, Molitor only had one contract offer (Brewers) after his 1987 season.
  15. Quite the turn around! Is this due to the new coach or an influx of talent?
  16. I'm a Counsell fan. His decision to sign with the Cubs surprised me. I wonder if this is a case of Craig realizing he's done all he can do with this team and organization and wants to take his skills to the next level? Does he have unfulfilled career goals as a manager (World Series) and is making this move to achieve those career goals? Is this a case of "quiet quitting" that we all hear about in the work world, and this is his chance to move on? Currently, I don't have any strong emotions going either way. This is something I've meaning to post, but never got around to it. Didn't know if it deserved its own thread. I lived through the Bambi's Bombers/Harvey's Wallbangers era where the Brewers were an AL powerhouse. Looking at the records the last six season, this current run almost matches it. People still gloss over the '82 team, I wonder if people will remanence regarding the recent teams? '78-'83: 93, 95, 86, 92*, 95, 87 wins = 91 average '18-'23: 96, 89, 78*, 95, 86, 92 wins = 89 average
  17. Some catching up to do. All the off-season moves so far, just for documentation. OFF: P Eric Lauer, outrighted P Caleb Boushley, outrighted P Colin Rea, contract expired 3B Josh Donaldson, contract expired OF Jesse Winker, contract expired 1B Carlos Santana, contract expired 1B Darin Ruf, contract expired P Justin Wilson, contract expired C Victor Caratini, contract expired P Andrew Chafin, contract expired P Wade Miley, contract expired OF Mark Canha, traded ON: OF Chris Roller, selected SS Vinny Capra, waiver claim P Colin Rea, signed P Aaron Ashby, activated The 40-man roster is at 34. One player on the restricted list.
  18. This is a bigger travesty than the 1987 Twins, getting into the playoffs and winning the WS with the AL's 5th best record (Brewers with a better season). Something I still haven't totally gotten over.
  19. As someone who has previously lived in SC Wis and Central Wis, I can honestly say there is no interest in Marquette athletics outside the Milwaukee media market.
  20. Is this like the most lop-sided nine-point game I've ever seen? Badgers or Packers?
  21. I've had Peacock for a few months, and not due to today's game. I signed on ten minutes early and kind of like how they had shots of the band and crowds without any commentary. As if I was there.
  22. A bit of Brewers trivia. Wakefield was the starting pitcher for Boston against the Brewers in the 1995 season finale. This is significant as funding for the new stadium had not yet been secured, Going into the game it was on our minds that a small chance existed that this was going to be the last game ever for the Brewers. I was at this game. I believe I still have the ticket stub.
  23. I concur. I park in the Molitor lot and of the games I attended, it never filler past "Molitor 2". This summer is the first time a sub-consciously noticed it.
  24. This is getting a tad political, but a big part of that conversation was Waukesha County residents who didn't want to drive downtown (it's too much further/we can't tailgate) possible dogwhistles. Yes, at the time other cities were building their stadiums downtown.
  25. 13-0 start to tie the Brewers/Braves record. 99 wins in all. This is a bigger sucker punch for the (few) Rays fans than Brewers.
