  1. OK, going off on a tangent here. Today, I was reading the current edition of Track and Field News. The next issue the NCAA may face in court is NCAA athletes in Olympic sports allowed to play in professional tournaments and allowed to keep prize money. For example, tennis and track.
  2. I still have the ninth inning of the no-hitter attempt on videotape.
  3. According to my Excel sheet, Win Shares per series: vs ARI Braun 0.506 Morgan 0.304 Hairiston 0.120 Fielder 0.078 Hart -0.011 Lucroy -0.036 Betancourt -0.082 Weeks -0.244 vs STL Hairiston 0.276 Braun 0.255 Betancourt 0.211 Hart 0.014 Lucroy -0.15 Fielder -0.079 Weeks -0.097 Morgan -0.104 Yuni had a fine LCS.
  4. OFF: P Kevin Herget, slected/DFA P Devin Williams, 60-day IL OF Garrett Mitchell, 60-day IL P Vladimir Gutierrez, waiver claim/DFA ON: P Corbin Martin, waiver claim P Jared Koenig, selected P Tobias Myers, selected The 40-man roster is full.
  5. The bigger story is Copeland leaving the program. First I heard of this. The second year in a row the second best player leaves. One step forward, one step back. Surprsied Leah Williams is still around.
  6. Interesting, Texas and New England had clouds. It was said that historically Texas would have the best odds of clear skies, upper Midwest in the spring not so. Can't always go with the odds.
  7. Road trip from Waukesha to Brownsburg, IN. For me, it's totality or forget it. I've been to two now, so I'm satisfied. The one thing left to do is the summer solstice in Alaska. The above picture from Cleveland is nice. Indy opened up the Speedway to spectators, but I passed on it because I didn't want to be in a city. As it turns out, I ended up in the suburbs anyways. Made small talk with a woman in my hotel who was down from the Twin Cities and she was headed for the Speedway. And I forgot to set set my DVR to record the national/local coverage. And of course the story wouldn't be complete without the drive back. Not as bad as 2017, but I just had this curiosity so I made a side trip to West Lafayette to check out the scene.
  8. Apparently, Paul Chryst didn't.
  9. I have vanity plates and the "O" is technically a "0" and also has a "half-space" (per DMV). So are attendants entering plate numbers to verify, or how is that working? What if they enter (as they see it) isn't identical to what I enter into my app?
  10. The next U.S. eclipse will be on 23 August 2044, so you'll only have to wait twenty years. I traveled to see the one in 2017, so if it's cloudy Monday, at least I've experienced it once.
  11. Twelve assists to go along with her 41 points. It's not just the sharpshooting, it's her passing as well that sets her apart. The 50-foot pass to her streaking teammate was right there. 95% of the time it ends up out of bounds. I watched the national title game last year and saw the conclusion. So I had this on my radar and tuned in just as Iowa was making its run. Kind of surprised at how everyone was chill at the end.
  12. OFF: C Eric Haase, DFA The 40-man roster is at 39.
  13. Badger women with a nice second-half comeback to advance. When I hear Southern Indiana, thoughts of Bruce Pearl coming into Madison are still in my head.
  14. Eight-seed West Virginia gives top-seed Iowa all they can handle on their own court. Apparently, Utah's best player is the Pac-12 POY, who looks like she is better suited for the Brew City Bruisers. Former Badgers coach from long ago, Mary Murphy, still doing analysis on ESPN. How does she get these gigs?
  15. A very evenly matched contest. No shame in losing this one. I didn't come away with the same feeling as I did the Clarkson game years ago. I think it's safe to say Ohio State has completed its ascension to the top and is the team everyone now is shooting for. Interesting to see how Mark Johnson responds (or retires).
  16. The "second" round had four 5/12 games and four 6/11 games. Final result for those who take a financial interest: lower seed 6-2 ATS, 5-3 SU. That's a 71% ROI. Or maybe this belongs in The Investment Thread?
  17. True. I saw a video earlier this week that had Kentucky's buzzer beater against Wisconsin in 2014. I had completely forgotten...due to 2015.
  18. I just see this as one coach being outcoach by the opposing coach. The team came out looking unprepared. Two weeks ago, who woulda thunk the Badger women would still be playing after the Badger men were done?
  19. Agreed to all above. To have a play-in game(s) for the 12-seed or whatever just doesn't make sense to me. I don't think it was always like that.
  20. Watching the high school tournament last weekend, it finally hits me. Watching 26 treys in the D5 championship game. The conversation turned to how (high school) FT% is down across the country. The thought being the players practice to hit the threes and not the 15-footers. Being 58, not sure if the evolution of the game is necessarily going in the direction I enjoy.
  21. I was at that game, but left after the eighth. It was freaking cold. Jim Slaton blew a two-run lead during the top of the ninth. Like yourself, listened to the end on the radio.
  22. Jimbo

    Pizza

Agreed. When I was a kid, Bucks on CG was our Saturday night tradition. This was 1971. However, when I'm in Madison, I get Pizza Pit. I don't eat in Madison often enough to patronize two places.
  23. Tim Lewis Eddie Lee Ivory
  24. ST games have begun, so time to catch up. OFF: P Clayton Andrews, traded OF Jahmai Jones, waived P Brandon Woodruff, 60-day IL ON: P Jakob Junis, signed C Gary Sanchez, signed The 40-man roster is full.
  25. Somewhat off-topic, I watched the first ten minutes of the girls title game out of curiosity, then went about my Saturday. I check the box score to find multiple misconducts and disqualifications at the end. Anyone have inside scoop? A big catfight break out? https://www.wiaawi.org/Portals/0/PDF/Results/Hockey_Girls/2024/game3.htm
