  1. I'm seven months into an engineering contract. My manager (300 miles away) and I click real well, although I wished we had more interaction. The last few months she has been filling in on a second role in an interim basis will doing her current job. Today, it was announced she is moving into the second role permanently, opening up her previous role. Not sure what the future holds, who my new boss will be. Even to go so far to say I am no longer obligated to this contract.
  2. I was told the people of L.A. don't care about football because they have the Lakers My buddy lived in L.A. back in the 90's and mentioned that city is more of a college football town and definitely not an NFL town.
  3. Just got back from Pick 'n Save. They had "2021 Division Champion" T-Shirts for $30. Yeah, I can see that being a hot item. I don't see any of their cartoon characters shopping for one in any upcoming TV ads.
  4. It's hard to be Packers Nation right now, but how it feels to be a Rams fan....er I mean a Bucs fan.
  5. It’s the 85 scholarships. That’s a lot. Even FCS schools can offer 65 scholarships. If parity were their objective (it’s not), drop the scholarship limit to 50 and teams like Alabama and Ohio State couldn’t stash 4 and 5-star recruits on the bottom of their rosters. Ahhh, wasn't it up until 40 years ago it was 99 scholarships? The reason Michigan and Ohio State dominated the 70's. Lower the limit and Wisconsin, Iowa so on come into play.
  6. I was just going to post, Wentz will be a career backup after today. The Colts are in major trouble. My brother lived in Ipls 20-some years and became a Colts fan. He has lived in JAX seven years now. Asked him why he didn't go to the game today. He said the Colts never have played well there, lost six in a row now. He went once and was embarrassed. I told him he wasn't a true fan.
  7. St. Brown has been with the team what, three years? This is the first I'm hearing of his background. Dual citizenship and trilingual!
  8. Shades of Ron Pitts, circa 1988.
  9. My wife has Amazon Prime. But we don't have wi-fi and prefer to watch on my 60" HDTV vs monitor. I would have to download to a flash drive and transfer to my TV.
  10. My hard drive contains the following: Microsoft Office files, pics and videos from my camera phone and digitized copies of my VHS tapes. The tapes are important to me since they contain classic Packers, Brewers, Badgers...and wedding videos. The Office files are backed up on two different flash drives, the pics and videos one each. The VHS tapes are taking up the most memory. So, I went out and bought a 264 MB flash drive to move those files over and free up some space. The external hard drive looks like a better long-term option. I was unaware of the folder syncing option. That could be put to good use with my office files and camera files.
  11. Nice explanation by Greg Olson about the importance of forward progress while going OOB inside of two minutes.
  12. The hard drive on my desktop is starting to get full. So I purchase a subscription for Microsoft Cloud. I figure I can upload files to the Cloud and take them off my drive, freeing up space. Finding out deleting files from OneDrive (on my machine) means the file also disappears from the Cloud. Defeats the whole purpose.
  13. As stated in the previous version of this thread, it bugged me when the last video store closed. So I finally created a Netflix account, all excited to start watching movies again. Now, I find browsing by titles difficult. I was expecting hundreds if not a thousand titles of classic films going back 50 years. What I find are stuff mostly from the last ten years that I have no interest in.
  14. Outside the box thinking here. A couple years back ESPN did a ranking, not a poll, on something like this. They put the Boston Marathon course at #20. Yeah, I'm biased. As for buildings, I would have to agree with MSG. The nation's largest city, the place that hosted many marquee events.
  15. I've listened to Hub Arkush on and off for 35 years and have respected his knowledge of the game. Disappointed in his comments.
  16. Yes, I have access to USA. They say everything will transfer to USA. I'm just a bit skittish their offerings will diminish. On top of that, Olympics coming up in a few weeks. One fewer outlet to show niche stuff.
  17. Today is the final day of NBC Sports Network.
  18. I was resigned to the thought of the Packers losing in the last minute. Should that last INT have been flagged, or "let the players play"?
  19. Challenges - in the regular season I think the experiment was one could challenge until the third upheld(?) but went back to old rules in the tournament. I'd say each individual was at least solid. Surprised Orzol hit negative, but twelve digs, six blocks and zero shanks made up for it. Jade Demps with the unsung hero award. Served the six-point run to open the fifth and had the ace to make it 14-9. Served consistent against Louisville. Back row attacks kept team in contention until Rettke finally got going. I was afraid the lack of a stud outside hitter would eventually do them in, but Nebraska comes along and they didn't have one, either. Oh wait, they did have an A-A hitter but wasn't put into the match. Coach Cook opting to go with the two freshman. This match similar to three weeks ago. NE comes out like gangbusters, but you knew it wasn't going to be sustainable. Just ride it out until Nebraska comes back to Earth. I don't know if the Huskers took the foot of the gas, but whatever Badger serve receive improved remarkably mid-second set. After that, they had control. Been watching Badger volleyball for 33 season and don't think I've witnessed a 24-block match. I wonder if that 7-0 run will gone down in Badger lore along with Darrel Bevel's TD run or Steve Alley's OT goal. A 3:15 volleyball match is much different than a 3:15 baseball game.
  20. Testing for a server error.
  21. I will edit my comment regarding the serving, I overlooked Barnes's three-point run in the fifth to put the match away. Keep in mind regarding serving strategy, sometimes Sheffield will instruct the team to serve aggressively, hence the service errors. This is one way for an underdog to beat a favorite. This is how #12 Wisconsin upset #1 Texas eight years ago. Roster makeup, Madison has always had a pipeline to suburban Chicago. But so, they had more than one in-state player. Now that the Badgers are arguably a blue-blood, expect more imports. Normally, I wouldn't fret over the outcome of the title match, but it's Nebraska. They always come up with a way to sprinkle their magic dust. I think it will come down to serve receive. Nebraska aced Wisconsin ten times in the match three weeks ago. #22 Orzol had a bad match. Six receive errors and six hitting errors. She needs to clean up. Nebraska will serve to her. I caught the end of the match with Pitt and every pass from the back row to the Husker setter was right there. The Badger serve needs to keep them on their back heels. On paper, Wisconsin has a bit more talent. They've beaten them twice already. However, a loss tonight to the "STL Cardinals" would be devastating and leave a black mark on an otherwise terrific season.
  22. Um...WOW! That was college volleyball played at the highest level. I never expected the result. #14 Smrek had an individual performance for the ages. And no one saw it coming. Remember, the only reason she has any playing time is due to being a mid-season replacement for an injured player. There had been a bit of a drop off in the number of kills from the position, but not tonight! "Next woman up". #21 Loberg exceeded my expectations. She had a solid game, especially considering how she disappeared the last two FF's. #22 Orzol played very well. Has a tendency at times to air mail her spikes, but stayed within herself tonight. Only aced twice in five sets, I'll take that. She's the weak link on serve receive and is picked on continuously. The only negative take aways is #10 Robinson was too quiet. Ashburn and Barnes are the two best servers and they didn't really produce any long scoring runs. Win or lose, the Badgers played as well as they could have. Glad it resulted in a victory.
  23. Ask and you shall receive. The answer is negative-7.08 Cannot advance a recovered onside kick, so killing the play was the correct call.
  24. About ten years ago I developed an unscientific matrix to estimate the number of points expected to score on a drive based on field position. Sunday's game had 35 kicks from scrimmage. Four plays were positive, seven were negative and the rest neutral. I'm listing the eleven plays that had an effect on the outcome. Punt coverage Should have been 1&10 @ 78 yds from goal; Expected points = 1.95 Actual 1&10 @ 56 yds from goal; Expected points = 3.21 Net loss 1.26 pts Kickoff return Should 1&10 @60, E(pts) = 2.59 Actual 1&10 @95, E(pts) = 1.38 Net loss 1.21 pts Kickoff coverage Should 1&10 @75, Actual 1&10 @59 Net loss 0.64 pts Kickoff coverage Should 1&10 @75, Actual 1&10 @60 Net loss 0.64 pts Punt coverage Should 1&10 @97, Actual @Goal Net loss 5.62 pts Kickoff coverage Should 1&10 @75, Actual 1&10 @58 Net loss 0.64 pts Kickoff coverage Should 1&10 @75, Actual 1&10 @92 Net gain 0.57 pts Punt return Should 1&10 @61, Actual 1&10 @48 Net gain 0.95 pts Kickoff coverage Should 1&10 @75, Actual 1&10 @87 Net gain 0.38 pts Punt return Should 1&10 @86, Actual 1&10 @71 Net gain 0.38 pts Kickoff coverage Should 1&10 @45, Actual 1&10 @-46 Net loss 9.01 pts Total net = negative-16.74 pts
  25. Season Ticket holder here. This is a special group of athletes. May not see another group like this for a while. I typically go to only two or three matches a season, but this fall went to six home, two road and four NCAA matches. However, I'll be surprised if they take the title. I feel this squad is a notch lower than last spring's team. Louisville blocks 3.03 per set which is similar to Maryland and Purdue, the only two teams to beat Wisconsin. Looks as if Louisville also has a strong serve game, the Badger's other weakness. I didn't get to see Louisville's matches last weekend. Then again, Texas got knocked out at home, so the path is a little easier. It's not football, but if you haven't seen this team play, give it a try! Nebraska plays in the second semi. I consider Nebraska the "St. Louis Cardinals" of college volleyball.
