  1. Atlanta can't be far behind. The spiders would be a great choice for a name.
  2. Haines will return as hitting coach.
  3. Reading that he died from colon cancer at that age really hit home for me. When I turned 30 I had to have emergency surgery due to a GI issue. They happened to also find a polyp in my colon which I later got removed and it turned out to be precancerous. I'm now on a schedule to get a colonoscopy every five years. Had it not been for this fluke issue and surgery it could very well have turned into cancer long before the time I would have gone in for a regular screening at 50 since I had no family history of colon cancer. Please get screened as soon as you can.
  4. Congrats! My wife and I are expecting twins in February, our first as well. Really glad you started this. Did you guys find out the sexes? We wanted it to be a surprise at first but since we are having two we are wondering if there is an advantage to finding out ahead of time.
  5. In light of what the Bucks did today I wonder if this one gets played.
  6. This is exactly right. This wasn't merely a slip of the tongue either. Based on how he used the term I'm willing to bet this wasn't the first time he has said something like this while on the job.
  7. Keston hit a pop up to 2nd and didn't run to first so they let it drop and got a double play.
  8. Keston has nowhere near the arm strength to play 3b. It's 2nd, 1st or DH for him.
  9. So the court ruled that DHS needed to use the administratIve rules process instead of an administative order. For those not familiar, it takes at minimum three to four months to put new emergency rules in place. So had DHS started the process back in March they would still be working through the process at this point. Likewise, the legislature has the ability to indefinitely stall all admistrative rules if thwy don't like them. This makes the state very vulnerable during the next public health emergency.
  10. There isn't really a good explanation that Favre can fall back on for this one. Either he entered into a deal he knew he didn't have to fulfill or he took taxpayer money and blew off the speaking engagements. The fact there were multiple events is hard to rationalize.
  11. One thing I hope continues is how more stores are offering the ability to order online and then pick up in store. Someone just told me that Fleet Farm is doing this now and I hope more adopt this approach since it's incredibly convenient. I also hope that medical clinics continue to move to more virtual visits. This virus has taught me how many in-person shoping and other experiences I can live without. I really wouldn't miss most retail stores and malls and I do all my banking in an app now.
  12. Already signed with Carolina.
  13. Many of these stars have tens of millions of followers on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Just a few weeks ago the surgeon general publically asked celebrities to spread the word about social distancing. Many people listen to advice from celebrities more than elected officials. Not saying I agree with it, but a lot of people put celebrities on a pedestal and pay attention to every single one of their social media posts.
  14. If our health care system gets overwhelmed it won't just be those two groups dying. It will also be people who have otherwise treatable but potentially life threatening conditions like car accident victims, people with burst appendix, and so on who potentially won't recieve care beacause the ICUs will be filled with covid-19 patients.
  15. When a person says "at some point the cure is worse than the disease" the argument boils down to that they believe at some point the scale tips where the threat to the market and people's ability to make money is more important than the threat posed to human life from the virus. There is no other way to explain it. First, let's be clear, this is no where near a situation where the country is completely shut down. There quite a bit of economic activity happening right now and will continue to happen. Some states have not restricted any economic activity and even in New York which is most affected by the virus there isn't a full shelter in place in effect. Second, I am not aware of a single projection that show this partial shutdown being needed for more than a few months, let alone six years. China is already beginning to open back up the area mostly hardly hit. From all indications, a vaccine will be available in early 2021 and the virus mutates so slowly that only a single vaccine will be needed. There are options the government can take to place a band-aid on the market and temporarily supplement incomes until that time but most of that discussion is better for the political board. This is a scary time for everyone and some people's wallets are being hit more so than others. However, having the virus continue to run unchecked is a greater long term threat to the market than our current path.
  16. You are basically arguing additional job losses or future businesses closing is a worse outcome than less people dying. The best case scenario from the White House is likely 200,000 dead Americans by the end of this. What do you think that number will be if we just go back to normal? You are also assuming that people will just return to normal behavior during an active pandemic. My wife has asthma and if that means I go out only for groceries, shop online and occasionlly get take out for as long as it takes then so be it. The market was on good footing prior to the virus and will likely rebound, albeit slowly, once the virus is more controlled, even if this last until the summer. Something that will would make more sense would be to allow individuals who have already built up antibodies to the virus to return back to normal as long as they are not at risk to transmit the disease . This would provide a boost until a treatment or vaccine is developed. But I'm not sure when that test will be available or of one is even possible
  17. I had this as well around the same time and work in Madison. Worst sore throat I've ever had and a 102 degree fever. I felt it was just a cold but knowing what I know now I probably should have quarantined and got tested.
  18. Most Dane County schools just closed effectively immediately instead of beginning Wednesday.
  19. I know you are being sarcastic but it is very intelligent to close schools at this point. This is all about spreading people out to minimize transmission. Schools spread germs very easily. Currently the disease doesn't seem to have infiltrated the schools yet so right now the risk l level is low to take kids out of school and have them stay home with adults, even adults at high risk levels. This may not be the case in a week or two and by then it would be too late to stop. Plus there are many kids and adult teachers in schools who are at high risk levels so keeping hundreds of "germ spreaders" continuously congregated in one building is very unwise until this gets more under control.
  20. I remember Yount even admitted in an interview on ESPN that he didn't need to dive for the ball.
  21. Logan Morrison us claiming that the Dodgers and Yankees have done something similar in the past.
  22. Profootball talk is saying thgst Haslam wanted Dorsey to give up some of his authority and Dorsey chose to walk. I wonder if Eliot Wolf is gone with him.
  23. Looks like Dorsey might be out in Cleveland too.
  24. Nothing like ripping off a Colin Cowherd tweet to try and make a point.
  25. I was actually at one of those about 15 years ago. Jax was here and it was about -5 at game time. GB got beat. I was there too. That was the game Robert Ferguson got clotheslined.
