  1. I think there are literally icicles forming on Weeks' bat.
  2. This just in: the Tigers offense is good. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Too bad for Tomo. Oh well, at least it presented an opportunity for Tuba and Dad to pat each other on the back.
  4. Weather.com. Go for the radar. Stay for the dancing alien in the sidebar ad.
  5. As much as I love getting my daily Brewer fix, I'd be happy with a rainout today, as long as it didn't spoil Sheets and Gorzelanny for Friday starts.
  6. The bullpen's numbers look very good. But that's an area that historically isn't cost prohibitive to upgrade (as it likely would be to better the RH half of the Jenkins platoon). Shouse has done a nice job, and I wouldn't be opposed to carrying two lefties in the pen, but he's not a dominating LOOGY, and we could certainly use a dominating LOOGY. I'm sure Melvin is doing his due diligence right now, and if the price is right, he'll make a move. I do agree that no major overhauls are needed. Which is a nice place to be.
  7. Who needs the day off more, Weeks or Fielder? Yeesh. Any chance the right side of our infield today is Miller and Graffy?
  8. "And also Sheets going tommorow is almost always a win." The Pirates starter can pitch a little, too. I'd say tomorrow's about a coinflip, but today was disappointing after spotting Vargas to a three run lead early. The Pirates offense without Bay isn't very intimidating, this one was there for the taking. The good news is that we won't have to complain about one of Vargas's starts again until after the All Star Break.
  9. "I'm pretty sure everybody cares." You sure about that? Sincerely, a young Gary Sheffield
  10. "In any event, if we're this disgusted with a garbage time reliever that has a 2.96 ERA through over 27 innings, things are VERY good in Milwaukee." A little bit of hyperbole here, given that there's like one guy in the thread complaining about Spurling, and two dozen lauding him.
  11. Vargas is the 7th best starter on the roster. I look forward to the day when he's no longer a member of the rotation.
  12. Good grief, a Spurling lovefest has broken out!
  13. Capellan probably should have gotten the win here. After his perfect frame in the top of the 10th, Tigers had bases loaded and only one out w/ Guillen and Pudge coming up. Guillen popped up, and Pudge missed a grand slam by about three feet (foul) before grounding out. Too bad for Jose, I don't wish the guy any ill will. In fact, given the liklihood that the Tigers may play a key role in keeping the Yankees out of the postseason, I hope he pitches well down the stretch.
  14. Normally I'd root for a lengthy rain delay after a few innings, so we could banish Snell and go to Villanueva vs. whoever the Pirates long man is. But given the status of Villy and Gallardo, we're gonna need Vargas to eat some innings. Hey Gabe, here's your monthly start - don't show any rust.
  15. Way to step on my line, Hawing. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Can we get a new Magic Number pic in this thread? Obviously it will change again in a few hours...
  16. "cubs down 6-0 after dimitri young grand slam. yippie " Take it to the non-Brewers IGT! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. As an aside, you have to admire Dmitri Young's crusade to get himself traded to a team with a pulse. The Yankees started Andy Phillips at first today - why aren't they all over this guy?
  18. "Let's go Nats your due to get hot for a couple of games" Literally. Today and tomorrow, then I'm looking for your bats to go into deep freeze again. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. A chance to get that lead back to 6.5? Don't want to count the chickens before they're hatched, but it's nice to see the Cubs look mortal (and nice to see Hill struggle a little).
  20. Spurling hasn't been as bad as most of us feel like he has, and the numbers bear that out. However, I agree that he's probably the one to go if Melvin calls up or trades for a bullpen arm, and as such I'd be pretty surprised if he was still on the roster a month from now. Patience is a virtue.
  21. This seems like a pretty lousy pitching matchup, but for some reason I have faith in both Vargas and our bats today. My gut says a Brewers W, somehow, someway.
  22. I'd discount Hill and Marshall's career numbers, due to everyone's favorite catchphrase on BF, (say it with me) Small Sample Size. I think that's relevant when projecting Lilly and Marquis, however. I also think it bears up the notion that Zambrano will continue his impressive string of performances over the past month plus.
  23. I don't feel strongly about the rotation coming out of the break, one way or another. The only way it's interesting, to me, is if Villanueva is in it. As for the hijack topic here, I'll play. Looking into my crystal ball, I'd go with a four man playoff rotation of: Sheets Capuano Suppan Gallardo
  24. 1. A quality LOOGY 2. A quality LOOGY 3. A quality LOOGY Damaso Marte, please. Of course, I'd love to see Otsuka added to the pen, and I'd be ecstatic if Melvin somehow upgraded the right handed half of the Jenks platoon, but the former is a luxury, and the latter seems implausible. The LOOGY is a necessity.
