  1. I feel underwhelmed...bring me back up guys
  2. YoungGeezy...who is making that rumor of Puk to Brewers? I'm excited for nearly anyone that has been mentioned.
  3. DH is definitely one of the worst things about baseball. I hate American League baseball and loved it when Milwaukee switched to the NL. I wouldn't go so far as to say I would be done with baseball if the DH came to the NL, but it would slip down my list to possibly NBA level if that's hard to believe. Which is an interesting analogy since the NBA "got rid" of defense and geared towards scoring. I really enjoy seeing players have to do everything and play the game. It was an astute comment earlier that the game is going towards softball. Fix the economics of the game, get to a closer level of parity like the NFL and enjoy the success that would entail.
  4. Nader, you propose an interesting idea. I would probably let Jungmann slide if I could be guaranteed of those other 4 signing. I'm all for ponying up the cash and signing all of our top picks through Rd 20. The only way to improve your farm system is by putting talent in there. I have always been a proponent of spending on the draft and will always be. Spend money to get good scouts, spend money to get the best players, spend money to get good facilities/trainers and spend money to get good coaches. We need to have a solid foundation built from the farm system. I would be curious to know how much we spend a year on all of the above mentioned expenses for the farm system. Use that to compare to what we spend on MLB talent.
  5. Guessing is always fun: AL is pretty much down to one open slot as Bautista and Hamilton should be locks due to their popularity and penchant for the homer. I'd say Tex is the favorite but would a Red Sox player pick a Yankee?!?! So I'll say Tex, Bautista and Adrian Gonzalez as a wild card team player pick to counteract the Yankee selection. NL I'd say Ryan Howard is a good bet, I'd say one of Braun/Weeks would make sense. I'll guess Kemp, Howard and Bruce. Hard to pick divisional rivals and I'd think that Prince would probably go younger since he'd be more familiar with these guys. Braun would have been a lock had he not been fighting soreness in the shoulder.
  6. Of course our system is depleted. You don't make the graduations to MLB and type of trades we did without giving up significant talent. I think we still have some high upside types of players but they need to prove themselves and show those that rank the systems who they are. Rogers has a very high upside and I don't care about his age. As was mentioned elsewhere, he has missed two years with injury...we still have 6 years of him under control. While most people look at a system and focus in on the highest ceiling, the players we have coming through the system project to contribute at a decent level which has a lot of value. I don't care what other sites rank our system at for at least 2 more years. Feels nice to not HAVE to rely on the stream. A nice change.
  7. I fear that he will open on a tear and that the price keeps climbing as the season progresses. I would love to lock up both pitchers.
  8. Well they are on pace for 162 wins so far...split that in half for being overly optimistic. Tack on 10 for off season gusto and sitting around 91 wins. Math is so easy.
  9. I would explore an extension asap...try to capitalize on the high and excitement this brings to everyone. He may be so happy to get out of KC that he will be open before seeing what happens this year. I wouldn't expect a discount but fair value would be reasonable to expect. I think the Marcum factor could play well again. The trade we made to get Marcum helped convince Greinke we are going for it. Extend Marcum and show Greinke that we are serious about this team for longer than 2011. Gallardo, Braun, and Hart (hopefully Weeks) extensions should demonstrate the long term viability of this team and would go a long ways to showing him (and Marcum) that we are for real.
  10. I've never been a big fan of not taking BPA. I don't care if the pick is not protected. Take BPA and pay like you would for any other 1st rounder. I wouldn't mind seeing a SS drafted but I'd rather see best bat available taken at both slots unless there are obviously better pitchers available. My preference would be for the impact stick. Our minors can fit any impact bat in at any position. My list of top three positions of need would probably be along the lines of SS, 3B, Corner OF. SS for obvious reason 3B since they are so valuable and by the time they are ready it will be McGehee decision time Corner OF because it will be Hart/Braun decision time when ready. I like to focus on these positions because they are more movable positions. SS can be moved to 2b, CF, etc. 3B can probably play corners and 1b, Corner OF can play 1b as well. I like to get catchers but it is so hard to find an impact stick that can stay there. HS Vs College...take impact ceiling. That is what 1st round is for. Highest ceiling and highest impact. Don't go cheap and negate the value of doubling your chances of impact from your first rounder.
  11. I'm with you igor. That's the reason we follow these kids. I'm interested to see what Hawn and Dvo do this year as well.
  12. With the blockbuster becoming official, that leaves 4 of the top 5 removed from the Power 50. Who steps up and takes number 1? Top 5? Top 10?!? I would bet that Mark Rogers surfaces as number 1. My top five would probably be Rogers Braddock ( Still qualifies from the look of it) Peralta Kentrail Davis Heckathorn But looking at the top 15-20 on the Power 50, you can make a case for a lot of helium in the mid range prospects. I'll be following Scarpetta, Gindl, Gennett and Komatsu closer than normal. Also can't wait to see how Thornburg and Nelson do at A ball. Who is everyone watching this year?
  13. I saw this last night after work and had some time to think about it and I love the boldness of it. So I would assume a Counsell signing will follow shortly after. I could see Cabrera being a decent stop gap. As for the Power 50 comments...I look forward to following this year because it means a major shakeup is going to happen with a lot of players jockeying for position. Should be a lot more entertaining than watching the same top 5 guys sit in the same spot. We have a lot of pitchers around A+ to AA that should be making jumps.
  14. That is odd that the Carolina team would move. When I went there a few years ago it was packed, the crowd was decked out in Mudcats gear and their stadium was pretty unique. Huntsville moving makes perfect sense...Carolina...interesting turn of events.
  15. I would not scream if they signed him reasonably. Problem I have is that he is a Type A free agent. I hate losing picks even if it would be our second rounder.
  16. Looks like a 91...then when you squint and look...it looks like a 9 l. I can see changing for something fresh but I like the HB better I think.
  17. Great Share! Being on the West Coast...the Pirates logo is the best! Honorable mention to the Mets, Cubs and Marlins.
  18. "Brewers signed 7th-rder Joel Pierce for $175,000 plus enhanced scholarship package" What is the difference between enhanced scholarship package and just paying for school like a lot of draft picks get?
  19. Well if Hart to the Padres is a real potential move than that may work out for us. What better teams to bid against each other than San Fran and San Diego in the same division.
  20. AJAY, I agree that would be a nice addition as well to the folder icons. But the folders do allow you to enjoy your wallpaper more easily.
  21. My update took about 15 minutes from download to restart of iphone. I'm loving the folders. My 13 pages of apps are now on 3 pages and easily organized. Great upgrade. Haven't played much with the new camera additions. Looks to be a winner so far for me.
  22. "depressing thought of the day: as bad as the parent club has been this year, they are 2 spots above last place, making them the best team in the entire organization.. now that Nashville/BC/DSL teams are in last, and the rest are in second to last." Nashville is 6 games over .500 and in fourth place. They are still the best team in terms of record and position since the Brewers are in fourth place in the NL Central with a .420 winning percentage. Heck, even Huntsville has a better percentage than the big league club. Anyway you slice it, it's not too pretty.
  23. That's the beast sbrylski. Thanks.
  24. Looking for help on a music video I seen on this board. It was of this Latino singer who mumbled for part of the song. I cannot remember the artist or song or even close to any lyrics. The guy just goes off.....ooooooohohhoooooohhhooooohhhoohhh. Pretty vague but someone knows what I'm talking about. It came up in a conversation I had today and I need to show it to my buddy to prove it.
