  1. Is it the scouts? More and more I think the fault has to lie in the coaches. These guys just aren't developing. None of them.
  2. I just want to point out that in a 1 run game, arguably our 4th best hitter available did not get an AB. We also had Yuni B and Jeff Bianchi up with the game on the line.

  4. I chuckled at this. They must really dumb things down on air if they have access to things more cutting edge than Fangraphs. I am sure that most (if not all) teams have access to data (such as Fieldf/x) that Fangraphs doesn't have access to.
  5. We haven't used either one of them there this snake bitten year.
  6. Better minor leagues, maybe.... but the Yankees can spend up to half a billion a year and not lose a penny. Clearly they will always have the brightest future in the salary-capless MLB.
  7. BRAAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! That is all.
  8. Lots of bars do shuttles to Brewer games, I'm sure the list will change going into next season. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/mil/ballpark/transportation/index.jsp?content=public_transportation You can also take a bus to the games, there is a bus that runs from downtown to the stadium on game days, and a bus 3 or so blocks from the park that runs a bit more often.

  10. And the "We'll just slide that line in there and hope no one notices" award of the day goes to the Brewers home page, with this gem: "Kyle Lohse settled in after allowing seven runs..."
  11. 15 RBI's short of the team record for a catcher. Ted Simmons had 87 in 1982. Hopefully the guys in front of him get hot so he has a shot of breaking that.
  12. So, only young guys under 25 get worn out from the long season? How come veteran players don't get the excuse "He's just tired"? I guess I was hoping for too much as I've been unable to watch games for 6 weeks, I figured this board might actually supply a bit of insight.
  13. Our manager has proven he has no idea how to use pitchers in this manner. See: Loe, Kameron.
  14. Yeah, because playing baseball almost every day for 170+ days consecutively doesn't have a cumulative effect... When you're 23? No, it really doesn't. It's baseball. It's not like he's running 12 miles a day, or running into 300 lb defensive lineman. If he isn't taking care of his body and he's tired or injured as a result, that's a problem going forward. It's not like he hasn't gotten days off. He's not-started 7 games already this season -- 5% of the year. So, if he's tired is the excuse, then what does the team do next year? Start him 130 games instead of 150? Stop letting him hang out with Yuni?
  15. 2nd Half OPS: Segura: .587, Castro: .596 What is wrong with Jean? And "He's just tired" isn't a sufficient answer. He's 23, he shouldn't get tired, ever.
  16. http://dugger1981.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/ron-roenicke-brewers.jpg The sunglasses are actually mirrored on the inside, so he can't even tell when the infield is in.
  17. The entire point of a 3rd catcher is so that you can PH your backup catcher, and not worry about an injury. He has no need to ever hit.
  18. Yet another contact play out! HOORAY!
  19. He didn't slug over .400 in AA or AAA. I am simply shocked by his production and being a realist. The odds of him posting a .700 OPS in MLB for a full season is slim. Again, for all the hatred Weeks got here all year, his .703 OPS over the last two seasons is higher than what Scooter posted in AAA this year.
  20. My gosh. I watched the replay of the first run Marco gave up. The ball was hit 2 steps to Fransico's right and he broke to cover first base. Shouldn't have been a run, should have been an out.
  21. Bogut, before he got hurt, was about 47 steps above Larry offensively. The year he went for 15.9 ppg was the year he got hurt. The year before, Bogut was even better offensively (not as many ppg, but a way higher shooting percentage) because he played with PG's who could get him the ball at the right time in the right spot in Ridnour and Sessions. Jennings never did that. Also, Bogut had much better hands, and was a way, way, way better passer than Larry. Maybe that will come in time, but Bogut's court awareness was amazing on both ends.
  22. There are really, really bad teams out there, and the Bucks defense will be too good to not win 30-35 games, which will put them mid-first-round again. Rather than middle of the lottery.
  23. 30 million in cap space and the Bucks end up with Carlos Delfino, Zaza Pachulia, Caron Butler and OJ Mayo. HOOORAY! Again, you couldn't have spend the extra 2-3 million on Teague?
  24. http://joeposnanski.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-long-sad-history-of-injured-pitchers.html Pitchers have been getting hurt forever. We just never knew what the injury was until 25 or so years ago.
  25. Davis was always open to a switch to 1B. The team said he couldn't hack it there after about 45 minutes of reps in spring training... and with 2 solid 1B in AAA I can't really blame them -- you can't split reps and PA's 3 ways.
