  1. It wasn't a Brewer, but today I had seats in 102, right behind the visitors bullpen. Chan Ho Park spent the 4th-7th innings tossing gum and baseballs up to kids, which was amazingly awesome. When he came in for Meek, he got a standing O from 101 and 102.
  2. Give it until 3 minutes. Then just.... wow. Love SRV, even if I'm too young to have seen him live.
  3. That's my biggest beef with Macha so far this season, aside from Gomez hitting second. Braddock has no business being a loogy. His stuff is way too filthy. Let the man pitch to RHB's.
  4. Fixed.Or, I'd say when he plays Gomez anywhere but CF defensively. Ridiculous to put your best CF in RF... especially 4-5 times when the guy playing CF couldn't even run his Achilles was so bad. Macha is also about to break Kameron Loe's arm by over use, and brings him in yesterday in a 5 run game when any one of the other 6 relievers would've been a better choice. He's now at 39 appearances and 42 IP in 76 games since being called up. That's on pace to blow away the team record for appearances and would be the most IP by a Brewers reliever in over 25 years.
  5. This is so far from the truth. I'm sick of Twins fans blaming Selig for that. Sorry for the tangent.
  6. Paraphrasing from fangraphs chat yesterday: Q: How do you feel about the whole "inverted W" thing? A (Dave Cameron): No one has ever been able to predict injuries accurately. They just happen. Until someone predicts them instead of saying "See, he's hurt, inverted W!" the whole thing just needs to go away. It's like Nostradamus. You say enough stuff, some of it will be true after the fact. That doesn't mean you're able to tell the future. Saying a pitcher will get hurt about enough pitchers is bound to be true some of the time, because... well... pitchers get hurt.
  7. A great article on why the Pirates shouldn't just blow the money and how much their revenue is based on ticket sales & revenue sharing dollars. http://www.slate.com/id/2265068/pagenum/all/#p2
  8. Bud stopped by the booth last night and talked with Uke for a good 20 minutes. It was a great conversation. My favorite Bud quote (paraphrased): "When we were trying to push Miller Park though in the late 90's, there were all these doubters, all these detractors making up scenarios of doom and gloom. They all seem to have disappeared since then." I'm annoyed by 1) the National media's take on this, and even more the disdain so many "fans" have towards Bud Selig. "Steroids are all his fault and he let them tie the All Star game. He sucks." Yeah, that's their whole argument. I'm so sick of hearing it.
  9. Tell him, $30 an hour, cash is your going rate. I tell my close friends and family I will gladly look at their stuff and fix it if needed, thankfully none of them pester or bother me all too often, it's sort of a "whenever you can" sort of thing usually... and I almost always get a 6 pack or dinner or something out of it. It's when I get calls from people who never talk to me otherwise that I get angry. I mean, if you only call me to get something for free you'd otherwise have to pay for... why can't you pay me?
  10. Yeah, well, Macha played Edmonds in CF and Gomez in RF when there was no doubt in anyone's mind who the better CF was.
  11. Yep, Braun has been in the #4 hole vs LHP this season. He's been absolutely horrible vs LHP this season. For some reason I think it's a change in his approach, rather than him forgetting how to hit, because Prince isn't behind him in the order. If Braun doesn't learn to take a walk, pitchers will continue to not throw him strikes, no matter who is hitting behind him. He may be an amazing hitter but a .350 OBP and 8% BB rate just aren't good enough to be considered elite. Put it this way: In Prince's worst season, 2006, his BB% was 9.1%. Braun hasn't come close to that. We're getting middle of the pack production from 1B, below average production from LF starting 3 rookies right now, who's offense will only get better and people are worried about the offense next year?
  12. The harder the position is defensively, the lower the average OPS of it is. http://somebaseballnotes.com/2007/09/21/the-defensive-spectrum-and-its-offensive-correlation/
  13. I know posters love to talk about luck and BAbip, but Braun's season kinda reminds me of Eddie Murray's 1986. That's perfectly fine, but saying that he's healthy now because he's been lucky when just putting the ball in play isn't correct. This isn't the same Braun we saw two years ago. He just isn't swinging with the same authority.
  14. It will only effect them in the sense that you're taking a .400 OBP guy out of the lineup. Braun is having by far the worst year of his career, even with Prince still here. The offense will take a hit, but there's no way our CF and SS production is as bad next year as it has been this year. Those two up ticks will fill the gap between any drop in 1B production.
  15. Wow, if this happens... I'll probably be making a road trip there. Looks gorgeous.
  16. Well, that's easy to answer, Riske really wasn't available. Neither was Mclendon or Capuano or Braddock (I mean, he can only get lefties out)... Coffee, Loe and Axford weren't available.... so... that's all we have in the bullpen. Gotta leave Parra in!
  17. Yeah, it's his brain that has caused him to walk guys for 3 years in the bigs. And it's his brain that makes his fastball straight and incredibly hittable.
  18. Because a twice surgically repaired elbow can't throw 200 innings.
  19. This probably isn't your specific computer, but... something like this: http://www.informationweek.com/news/hardware/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=60300177&pgno=4 Remember: take out the battery and unplug first, and use soft things to clean (toilet paper, air, q-tips, etc).
  20. You'd have to open it up and de-dust it to clean it out, more than likely. Laptops just aren't easy to clean from the outside. Odds are you'd need a special screwdriver as well to get into the case.
  21. Tupac - All Eyes On Me Live - Throwing Copper Grateful Dead - American Beauty and my guilty pleasure... Blessid Union of Souls - Walkin' off the Buzz
  22. Sounds like an overheating problem, either vid card or motherboard. Check in the bios on initial boot (usually will say "Press delete to enter setup") and you can look at what the temperatures are. Odds are your processor temp is 70+ degrees Celsius. Just too hot.
  23. His .slg is just terrible. He's been lucky and getting a ton of singles. Even with his BA 100+ points above his career best, his slg% is still 50 points below his career average.
  24. Yes, this isn't "Where do I want to put my toddler at in the field?" At least, I hope not. If a guy can play CF well, he can play RF and LF. If a guy can play SS well, he can play 2B, 3B, and 1B. A guy may be a great 1B (Derrick Lee, for example) but would be a terrible SS.
  25. "Park 3 blocks away and walk your lazy non-google mapping self to work." At least, that would be my cranky, rain soaked, flat-tire-changed-in-the-storm response tonight.
