  1. OTA HD broadcasts are pretty good. It's how my parents watch all the Packer games, and they've never had a problem with it at all.
  2. The Yankees have 70M coming off the books this year. Seventy Million. Now Jeter and Rivera are about half that, and will be resigned... but still, they have as much money as the Brewers coming off the books even if you don't include Fielder's salary at all next year. Vazquez and Pettite total 23M on their own.
  3. New job, definitely not bugging me, even if I am just a contractor. Plus, a pub 'n peddle on Saturday, getting to see a bunch of people I haven't seen in awhile.
  4. You wanted no starters playing for your birthday??
  5. I'm really not sure how that makes him sound like a whiner. All he said was RF was easier for him than 1B.
  6. Just remember, the Cards won the division after sweeping the Reds on Aug 12th... going 1 game up. Oh wait, there were still 7 weeks of baseball left? And.... welcome to the Show, Mr. Jeffress.
  7. There's no synthetic surface that is as good as natural grass. Lambeau basically uses natural grass with a synthetic grass 'rooting'.
  8. Yovani is 4th in the NL and 7th in MLB in FIP. Yovani is 3rd in the NL 8th in all of MLB in xFIP. What else can we do to prove to you that the defense behind him is a huge part of his ERA being closer to 4 than it is to 3 now?
  9. My guess is he gets that somewhere around Sept 18th.
  10. Once again, from the Fangraphs article: After last night, he just barely inched over 3, to 3.05. He is 4th in the league in FIP. You may not value FIP, but his ERA is almost a run higher than his FIP because of the Brewers terrible defense. His BABIP against is .344. It was under.300 for his career before this season. Maybe he doesn't throw enough strikes, but, really, can you blame the guy for trying to strike everyone out on this team?
  11. Isn't that more of a case of a lack of resources, due to the exorbitant fees that Japanese teams have been demanding?
  12. While I agree with your post, in theory, you've neglected one very important thing: there is no way that Lee isn't a Yankee by opening day next year. They will trump any offer any team gives Lee, because Andy Steroids Pettite is going to retire and they want Lee to take his spot in the rotation.
  13. Except, they really didn't. Anytime they played anyone decent and ran with their 4-4-2 (which meant downgrading from Fielhaber and Edu to Clark and..... Buddle or Gomez or Findley) they just weren't as good. Putting more pressure on Dempsey and Donovan to play defensively as opposed to letting them roam and pick their spots. Anytime they played a team who could hang with them athletically (85% of the teams in the World Cup) and could pressure the ball well (75% of the teams in the World Cup) the huge weakness of the 4-4-2 kept showing up, time and time again with poor spacing and poor first touches. As for the adjustments: It's great that he makes them, but when time after time he's making the same adjustment there comes a point when he should make that adjustment before the game begins and not waste a sub. Bradley ended up being their fall back position, when they couldn't get the funds for (or simply couldn't get?) Jurgen Klinsmann.
  14. He substituted at halftime in 3 of 4 games, which is the equivalent of pulling Jeff Suppan after 3 innings in a playoff game. He continued to stubbornly and stupidly employ a 4-4-2 when every single time they switched to a 4-5-1 they played much, much better (once again, see the second halves of Slovenia and Algeria) and this allowed Donovan (by far their best player) to control and create from the midfield instead of having to constantly react to opposing pressure. Anyway, that's my thoughts on the matter, and I really couldn't say it better than Craig Stouffer who goes into further details than I will here...
  15. I don't know. I keep re watching Cain's amazing catch yesterday, and had I been the manager, I would've sent Dickerson out there mid inning to replace.... Braun. There's no excuse for dogging it on fly balls, and he's been doing it for a month now. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/b7c155998b69579a63bd327dcfe3ab3edf17daa.jpg Cain ran almost twice as far as Braun to catch that ball. Braun was jogging from the get go.
  16. Stetter has been what he is in AAA, a guy who just keeps getting lefties out. He's at 15K/9 vs LHB with a 1.06 WHIP and a .190 BAA vs LHB. It would suck to not have him brought up, simply because it would free Braddock up to pitch more important (ie: Hoffman's) innings. Instead of coming in to face a lefty or two.
  17. What a catch by Cain. But it never should've come to that. Once again, Braun dogs it on a fly ball he could've easily caught back to the wall. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/b7c155998b69579a63bd327dcfe3ab3edf17daa.jpg Cain ran almost twice as far as Braun to catch that ball.
  18. I'd be in, probably for 2 or 3 jerseys, willing to pay up front as well.
  19. I'd assume Hart to 1B, and Dickerson in RF.... as Dickerson is an above average defensive OF. The more I think about it, the more likely it seems that Gamel or McGehee are going to be moved this off season. The return for either of them + Prince would leave quite a bit of money available to spend on a free agent to fill either RF or 1B. Heck, bring back Bill Hall and platoon him with Dickerson and move Hart to 1B.
  20. US Extends Bob Bradley through 2014. To those who don't follow soccer, this would be similar to a team extending a manager who was the cross between Dusty Baker in breaking pitchers and Ned Yost in his ability to manage and manage a bullpen. I'm shocked. Upset. Angry.
  21. We've got a backup catcher with a .746 OPS who is better defensively than either of our previous two starting catchers. I guess I'm not quite sure what there is to complain about, other than Lucroy not taking enough BB's.
  22. That pic of Bailey makes it look like his hand is attached to his wrist backwards. Awesome.
  23. Was in the linked article...
