  1. Did you mean spot on the 40-man roster? They still have Cruz on the 40 man as an emergency SS option if both Betancourt and Counsell go down.
  2. Axford, Loe, Braddock, Hawkins, Parra. That's 5 solid arms in the bullpen. I think Braddock is going to be really, really good this year. With him and Loe, Ronny can bring in whomever fits to face who is due up the next inning. I don't think he'll be a "8th inning guy" type. He'll be a, "Two lefties are coming up, let's go with Braddock." At least, that's my hope. Throw in Stetter as a LOOGY (so Braddock doesn't have to do it), and you've got another step forward.
  3. I think Hawing has been moonlighting for the Society of People Organizing Relish Trays (SPORT) and this was her way of brain washing us into creating extravagant relish tray designs and revolutionary ideas. http://www.citydeliva.com/ordereze/images/items/IMAGE21.JPG
  4. The Bucks just went 6-4 over their last 10 games, while playing the toughest schedule in the NBA. Amazing.
  5. As Uke says, Hope Springs Attourney. But having him on the team without a solid second option would be like going into spring training with Jeff Suppan, Doug Davis and Dave Bush filling out your 3-5 spots in your rotation.... oh wait... we tried that already.
  6. The first thing that popped into my head after your first link was the opening to Iron Man.
  7. I don't know, between Jennings, CDR and Dooling, he had 3 more solid shooters on the roster. It's just that one of them has also been hurt (CDR) and Dooling forgot how to shoot for the first 6 weeks of the season.
  8. Delfino got the Corey Koskie treatment with a concussion. No one is sure if or when he might be back, although, he's apparently actually able to exercise. The team really, really misses him. Having both him and CDR out at the same time also really hurt. Magette really fit in well playing with Luc Richard -- both black holes offensively, one because he can't score, the other because he insists on scoring. One great defender, one not so good. Having to bump Prince Luc up to the starting lineup really hurt. Jennings is getting better, he still struggles getting the bigs the ball going to the hoop on Pick 'n Rolls (he does a lot better with Gooden, who can pick 'n pop... than Bogut, who rolls to the rim). His assist/possession numbers need to get better for me to consider him an elite point guard, but he's definitely light years better than anyone the Bucks have had since Sam Cassel. And yes, that includes Mo Williams.
  9. Yeah, because Maddux pitched so much worse than Pedro when they both lost some velocity. Ridiculous. A guy who can keep the movment on his pitches and can hit is spots is way better off than a FB reliant pitcher who loses his FB.
  10. My understanding is that the car has to be in motion. And the reason for the texting-specific law is simply to bring it to the forefront as we're growing up with a generation of 16 year olds who text while in class, while doing homework, while watching movies, and will just keep doing it while driving.
  11. Going from below replacement level last year in our rotation to a guy like Marcum... well... awesome.
  12. I'll always remember the game Yost had Shouse walk a guy in St Louis (Last Saturday of '06). And Coco Cordero proceeded to blow his 2nd save as a Brewer (I'd seen the first one at Wrigley the previous Wednesday, I believe). Giving poor Shouse the loss. (fixed code --1992)
  13. And if Raines doesn't get Lupus he may very well get to 3000 hits. We can say what if's all day long. Dawson did get hurt, and he wasn't great for that long as a result. Raines career OPS+ is 123, Lofton's is 107. Raines stole 180 more bases and got caught 20 fewer times. They really aren't that comparable.
  14. Raines, Raines, Raines and Raines. Probably the second best leadoff hitter ever. Blyleven, Alomar and Martinez are my other votes. I'd also lean towards Trammel and Larkin. It truly is amazing how some players gain popularity (Sutter & Gossage) while others didn't at all (Quisenberry). It's amazing how much what city guys played in still effects their HOF considerations.
  15. Beltre is gonna sign with a west coast team, and Boston is gonna sign him to play 3B. I can see it happening....
  16. From the sounds of things, Hardy may be gone from them by opening day. I'm shocked.
  17. Too long and too much. Way too much risk for the Brewers to take on. That money would be better spent elsewhere. Like Beltre and Weeks.
  18. I don't know. I think isolating 6'10" Leuer on a 6'2" guard in the post was enough to create an open man. I just have no idea what Bruesewitz was thinking by not throwing the ball up. Either before the timeout or after.
  19. I have no issue with Hernandez winning, but saying the "stats folks" should be happy with the result is a bit much.... baby steps, I suppose. I just don't see how people could collectively vote for Hernandez, and at the same time, completely ignore Lee.
  20. Yes. But Lee was ridiculous, regular season or not. His K/BB was over 10 to 1. By fangraphs war (which uses FIP and not ERA) he topped all pitchers in MLB.
  21. Purely as a thought process, what would you call Ichiro's offensive season last year? Would you use 'outstanding'? He only struck out 86 times and hit .315.
  22. The Bucks are playing the world champs tonight and there was barely 6 words said about it all day.
  23. Or they're serious about trading him, with the caveat that he signs an extension for the team he's traded to (akin to Johan Santana a few years ago)
