  1. It doesn't matter which was 'better' its a bonehead move to put anyone on in front of the 2nd best hitter in the league this year.
  2. Just wanted to bump this up, I'll unload the pairs for $30 each... anyone wants 'em.
  3. Not all of Yost's decisions result in wins or losses for the team. The problem is, he keeps on making the wrong decisions. Just because something works out in hindsight, doesn't mean it was the right decision. Just because he brought in Aquino in the 8th inning of a tie game last year and he got through it... didn't mean it was wise to bring him in with Hunter Pence up and 2 on in the 8th later in the year. Small sample size got Kevin Mench 150 AB's vs RHP last year, instead of Gabe Gross or Corey Hart. It got Tony Gwynn way too many AB's last year as well. Now its getting Gabe Kapler AB's over Mike Cameron. Time and time again, Ned doesn't put his players in the best position to succeed.
  4. I can't say it any better than Joe Posnanski: Congrats, Junior.
  5. BMW Compact Lacking, All is Lost http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3018/2562824339_1ed63dda6a_m.jpg
  6. No, you only bean guys when its September and you're in a pennant race. Duh!
  7. I'd highly recommend just backing up to CD-R's and keeping them someplace safe.I realize, its not online, but, you can make sure the quality stays the same, and most places can print photo's off CD's now without any problem.
  8. Atta boy Billy. Right back up the box. Now, lets see if Soup can throw in the altitude.
  9. Weeks gets the worst jump on any hit ball of any infielder I've seen in a long time. He makes some great plays ranging because of his athleticism, but his reactions are that of a guy who isn't paying attention or is flat footed half the time.
  10. Random question... what time do people normally get there? And which field do we play on? The one right on KK, right?
  11. What do you mean? Kevin Mench is hitting .385! He needs to get 200 AB's vs RHP!
  12. I am going to be out of town that weekend so I'm looking to unload the tickets. Face is $19 each, I could part with each pair for $35. The 13th are 414, row 3 seat 19&20 The 14th are 412, row 1, seat 5&6 Just bumping this....
  13. I'd take Bill Hall, 8 days a week. His peak is much higher than Hardy's, and his low spot is higher than Hardy's as well. As bad as Hall's bat has been this year, Hardy's has been even worse.
  14. So, you mean... like... SLG%?
  15. I finally plan to make my debut.
  16. I'd have to say, for an 8 year period, Roberto Alomar was as good as anyone in baseball. And wow... this thread kind of blew up. The best RH hitter I ever saw, was Frank Thomas, in the 90's. His 1994 was, perhaps, one of the best single seasons ever, but it was strike shortened sadly.
  17. With Manny hitting his 500th, some friends and I got into the discussion of the best RH hitters of all time. Position being irrelevant. We started naming off guys from the past at first: (Aaron, Mays, DiMaggio, etc), and then jumped to the present. We started talking about how we might be seeing 4 or 5 of the top 10 best RH hitters ever playing today. ARod, Pujols, Manny, Frank Thomas, Gary Sheffield. Maybe I'm crazy. Anyway, I wanted to post this, to try to stir up a discussion. Who are the greatest? Give a personal top-5!
  18. I think he means that David Eckstein will go up and foul off 7 pitches in an at bat and then ground out weakly to the secondbaseman most of the time. While ARod will strike out more than almost anyone in the league... but he's the best baseball player on the planet. "Pretty ABs" and Success are not mutually exclusive.
  19. Branyan's scoreboard shot was his first one on Opening day 2k5. Prince hit one... 470+ off the Road Runner sign in right center (was at the game... still in awe).
  20. He also apparently left his World Series Ring in Boston. Amazing!
  21. I have ultimate tryouts tomorrow... so I (once again... grrr) won't be able to make this one.
  22. The sad part is, it wasn't a country highway, it was University Ave in Madison. With a nice wide bike lane.
  23. Biking at high speeds (15+ mph) and a road bike (skinny tires) stones can very easily cause you to go horizontal and end up with road rash. Besides, the way people drive, being on that line makes no difference in your odds of being side swiped. I have gotten laid out on my bike in the bike lane twice by people in SUV's letting their mirrors clip my handlebars as they come up from behind me. Yes, your SUV is gigantic, your head is not in the middle of the car, please, stop driving with your head in the middle of the traffic lane.
