  1. I got into a discussion about tagging up the other day with some softball teammates. I was of the opinion that the runners can tag up on a fly ball as soon as it hits the outfielder's glove (or hand, or face... or whatever). Not when an actual catch is made. My friends proceeded to tell me that its when the catch is made that matters, so, theoretically, someone could 'bobble' a ball all the way into the infield, never giving the runner a chance to tag up. I can't imagine that... because, I've never seen a pro OF bobble a ball intentionally (which, really, isn't that hard to do) to mess up the timing of a guy tagging up (or even trying to double him up off 3rd). Just wondering if anyone here can help me out.
  2. Your 2008 Milwaukee Brewers: Giving you more than you paid for (at least in time wasted)
  3. You don't need a 3rd party app to do this at all. Here's what you do: Hook up your ipod, if itunes opens up, close it. Open your ipod via "My computer" There's now a few folders that you'll see. Make sure you have "Show hidden folders" checked. On XP this can be found under Tools -> Folder Options -> View Go to the ipod_Control folder Drag and drop the Music folder to your desktop Open up Itunes Under Preferences -> advanced (in itunes) Make sure that both "Keep Itunes folder Organized" and "Copy files to Itunes folder when adding" are checked Go to file -> add folder to library and select the Music folder you just copied to your dekstop
  4. Vodka and seven (diet especially) is an incredibly low calorie drink, so it is a favorite amongst those who don't want a high calorie intake.
  5. My friends and I's highlight, from underneath Fenway on Friday during the rain delay. We probably had our picture taken 400+ times by Brewer fans and Red Sox fans alike. http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/9563/bostonpictureah9.jpg
  6. I lied... I'm stuck working. I won't be there.
  7. I should be able to be there for this one.... finally.
  8. The DH was created to give old players longer careers without putting the strain on their bodies of playing the field. See: Martinez, Edgar; Molitor, Paul and Thomas, Frank as prime examples (and, imo, Griffey, Ken soon)
  9. Am I the only one who would love to see Kevin Love in a Bucks uniform? I think he's going to be a solid pro for many years, may never be a 20 ppg scorer but will rebound, pass well and play solid D at the 4.
  10. He struck out the side in the first on 9 pitches, vs the Tigers. Then gave 2 in the 2nd and 6 in the 3rd. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/box/2006/MIL200606200.shtml
  11. Hart was moved to try to find a spot for him to play in MLB. It wasn't because he couldn't play defense (okay, well, he couldn't play 3b at all... but still - he came up as a 1B, played great defense there, by all accounts but Prince wasn't getting moved anywhere). The only move I was completely baffled with was when they moved a good fielding IF (Hall) to the OF, instead of one of the two infield butchers (Weeks/Braun). You can't continue to look at trades and say the 'crew traded Sexson for nothing without accounting for the facts that they weren't keeping him and his career has spiraled downwards since he left Milwaukee.
  12. I'll disagree on one point... Sox fans are great, until they are losing. Then, they suddenly turn into Cubs fans. At least, that was my experience in the CF bleachers during the late game Saturday night. I was also very disappointed to read that the game on Friday night was basically given no chance to be played by game time, and they let everyone sit around in the cold and rain for 2 hours before calling it.
  13. http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/05/20/mlb-roundtable-which-manager-has-the-hottest-seat/#cont The fanhouse guys agree he's the most on the hotseat.
  14. Take a look here. Hopefully you can figure it out with that?
  15. Gotta use the pinky, my hands are too small to stretch for the 3-note sperations that will eventually come (ie: green/blue) Although I am known to slide pointer/ring finger back and forth when its all 2-spaced notes (green/yellow, r/b, y/o) The easiest way to learn to use the pinky is to just play with the 4 fingers on medium, especially since you've got the sliding thing down already.
  16. Won't be able to make it, have family stuff to attend to. Then, I'm off to Boston for the week. Hopefully everything will be straightened out for me by the 22nd!
  17. I can't wait until all of our bullpen's arms fall off in August because our starters all seem to have contracted Claudio Vargas Nibblitis.
  18. Ted didn't make any of those decisions, Yost is making them from the clubhouse.
  19. If you game at all, you probably want to stick with windows. Also, if you use the latest versions of excel/acess or power point, you also would want to stick with Windows. There are Linux alternatives to those, but they usually have problems with file transfers. To be honest, unless you need specific features of linux, and you're satisfied with windows, there isn't a real reason to switch.
  20. The sad part (for Cubs fans, at least) is that he was there in time to make the play but flinched, because he's so scared of running into the wall.
  21. Even in your post you wrote why "Playing the hot hand" is just a myth. No matter how well the guy did over the previous game, 2 games, or 8 games, he's just as likely to go 0-4 as any other time.
  22. Personally, I think that he's the difference between 86 and 90 wins this season. Gut feelings and hot-hand have no business as justification for guys getting playing time. The 160 AB's that Mench got last year starting over Gross vs RHP's may very well have cost us the division.
  23. I highly recommend parking in Skokie and taking the yellow line in to the red line. Its only 1 transfer, there's a huge parking lot there, and you won't have any problems at all getting to and from the game. http://www.chicago-l.org/operations/lines/yellow.html
  24. I know you're tilting towards career numbers, and impact with the team, but its odd he picked Willie Randolph when Willie had a monster year for the 'crew in 1991.... in which he posted an OPS+ of 126. I'd be interested just to post single seasons, regardless of anything else and see how they'd stack up. Cal Eldred's 1992 season stand's out in my mind as one of the great (half) seasons by a Brewers starter, ever.
  25. Honestly, its probably easier to get off at the downtown depot. There's the miller park bus that runs right down Wisconsin 1 block from there. It drops you off at 84th right at the Pettit center. From there you can either walk North to Wisconsin and catch the 10 to just above the hill, or south to Greenfield, and catch the 18 to the Veterans center.
