  1. Note where Diaz' right foot is. He ran away from first base to run into Godley.
  2. About 2003 they stopped being youth sports and became "Serious business" for way too many of the parents involved.
  3. Here is the rule: OBSTRUCTION is the act of a fielder who, while not in possession of the ball and not in the act of fielding the ball, impedes the progress of any runner. Yeah. Didn't happen. Awful call. So if the runner decides to run towards the catcher and the catcher doesn't get out of his way, that's obstruction?
  4. Goodbye binary! Hello tertiary or quaternary! One of my engineering professors told us that the person that could invent a computer that ran on more than two states would be very rich! I visited the four corners with my cel phone, does that count?
  5. I like to think I'm a pretty big Brewers fan (I am posting here, after all), but holy heck is it hard keeping up with who's on the roster and who these guys are - especially because it's all happening in April.
  6. That's four pitches in a row pina hasn't put weight on his toe
  7. Are you saying this board over reacts to small samples on a regular basis. I just don't believe it. Based on this post and only this post I would say I don't believe it either.
  8. He knows it was intentional. High and tight on the first pitch when he squares around. In a one run game in the 9th? That would be a choice. He's not trying to hit him, but that's something that happens all the time to try to see what the baserunners are doing.
  9. and played stellar defense. He has had some clutch hits, not just 2 homers. Yes, it's early, he could fade, but has looked great so far. Maybe he's figured it out, I hope he has, as a reminder to how hard sustained success is in MLB... Keon Broxton put up an .860 OPS while playing phenomenal defense over 400ish PA's from the end of 2016 to midway through 2017. Then, poof, it was gone.
  10. Today. 3 o'clock start (so you don't miss it.) 10-7. Took a road series from everyone's #2 pick in the NL without 3 of their top 8. This team could be really special.
  11. Hard to predict the Wahl and Topa injuries, followed by Williams seeming to be wrong on the mound. But that path not taken during the off-season sure looks good in hindsight right now. The fact that we are even talking about guys with the track records of Wahl and Topa as alternatives to Hand and Knebel is how drastically I think we seem to have overrated our own pen options heading into this season. It reminds me of the Ray Black hype when we acquired him. I hoped for hoped about Ray Black. His arm is incredible. Sometimes guys just need a different voice. Maybe he didn't.
  12. I mean.... no? The Pirates have had 4 winning seasons against the Brewers in the past 14 years. Two of those were 10-9.

It was already on the low side even in 2019. If you can't make contact with strikes you're not gonna be able to play.
  14. Did Marcum really run out of gas, or merely had three bad starts at the wrong time? I looked back at the play by play from 2011. In the NLDS he had only given up three hits and two walks in the first four innings of the game (1.25 WHIP). In the 5th inning he gave up a single to the pitcher on an 0-2 count, then a single to Aaron Hill the lead off man on a 0-1 count. He retired the next to batters. Then Roenicke intentionally walks Miguel Montero to get to Goldschmidt, who hit a 1-2 pitch for a grand slam. Against the Cardinals, Pujols the league MVP had four RBIs against him in the first game (His OPS was over 1.000 in the post season that year). In Game 6 Marcum gave up a two out, first pitch 3 run homer to David Freese who had an OPS over 1.000 in the playoffs that year with 15 extra base hits and 21 RBI. Totally off topic I know, but it’s interesting how we remember these things. Marcum didn’t really let them down with poor pitching. He made a mistake on a pitch at the wrong time against Goldschmidt, and ran into two white hot hitters on the Cardinals so his pitching line looks terrible Marcum last 24.1 innings regular season (4 starts): ERA BA OBP SLG OPS 6.66 .327 .374 .551 .925 Marcum playoffs: ERA BA OBP SLG OPS 14.90 .395 .458 .674 1.133
  15. It’s not drawing a conclusion; it’s a fact. To this point the bullpen has sucked. Maybe they turn it around but maybe they don’t. Time will tell. Inconsistent hitting and a leaky bullpen are ruining what has been an unbelievable run of starting pitching to start the year 24th in K/9 as a bullpen (8.83), 30th in BB/9 (yes, that's bad) (5.80), dead last in xFIP and 24th in FIP. They have been terrible thus far.
  16. Got a Sobotka, got an Omar... I don't think there is a McNulty available.
  17. Isn’t that kind of the dream? Get some amazing food or menu item named after you? I made the Lou Williams lemon pepper wet wings for Opening Day.
