  1. Tampa Bay has the same record as the NL West leading Colorado Rockies. They are 18.5 games back.
  2. 1) Do you think Craig Counsell wants to win the division this season? 2) Do you think Craig Counsell knew that Wednesday's game was twice as important for the divisional standings as tonight's game? 3) Do you think Craig Counsell bet money on the Cubs? 4) Do you think that Craig Counsell is so inept at his job as manager that he decides weeks in advance what days people will get a day off and doesn't adjust his strategy based on the standings, matchups or if players aren't feeling 100%? This is the dumbest reason to hate a manager ever.
  3. Eh, the way I see it is the Cubs, on paper, should have lost last night being a Strasburg start. So even if they do lose a game due to a weak bullpen it just evens out. Also, I don't think they are really being asked to extend themselves that much. Most of those guys only threw a handful of pitches. Chavez, Cishek, and Wilson didn't even throw 1 full inning. Strop only threw 1 total. Chavez: 14 pitches Cishek: 6 pitches Wilson: 6 pitches Strop: 20 pitches. I'm sorry, but 6-20 pitches is not going to wear out anyone. It's when you have to ask your relievers to go multiple innings that you start having problems. Facing 1 or 2 batters will not even affect the pitcher come the next day. At most, maybe Strop is unavailable tonight for them. Cishek, Wilson and Strop all pitched Wednesday and Thursday.
  4. John Smoltz didn't have enough wins as a starter to be a Hall of Famer nor enough saves as a reliever, clearly he isn't a Hall of Famer.
  5. Sean Doolittle is awesome. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2018/09/05/sean-doolittles-home-run-challenge-is-his-greatest-idea-since-the-bullpen-cart/
  6. That is why I said only the first half of the first game of the year. TE looked weak during the game no separation like the WR when running their routes. I like Ferguson but he didn't look all that impressive in the first half maybe it was more to do with Hornibrook than him. I am still rather nervous with the offense and Hornibrook at QB. If he continues to just air out the ball under throwing the ball with a lot of air under it, this could be a long season. It looks like Hornibrook is still playing QB at HS where you are putting more air under the ball and the WR rather than throwing spirals and line drives to your WR. This is what is wrong with Hornibrook he is lofting his throws to much which is allowing defenders to make plays on passes they shouldn't be able to. This is going to hurt the Badgers against teams like Michigan and Ohio State as they are going to be able to stack the line knowing that Hornibrook is just going to be lofting balls instead of driving them to his WR allowing their DB's to cover more ground. Hornibrook doesn't have a strong arm. That's why he throws that way. He also lacks the ability to anticipate routes beyond 10 yards so his throws are always late. That said, he could very well end up holding every single Wisconsin career QB record by the time he's done.
  7. All of the post season predictors still show the Brewers between 7.5 and 10% of winning the division. It ain't over yet, folks. Last night's loss really hurt, but there's still hope!
  8. Probably didn’t think Baez would run to third on a hit like that. L Doesn't matter. You back up the bag as a pitcher. Every time.
  9. Chacin didn't back up third. Have no idea why not.
  10. That's one of the filthiest sliders I've ever seen. Starts at him and breaks into the zone for a strike. At 90 mph. I wouldn't want any part of that either. It was nasty. My buddy and I were saying he truly has nasty stuff but has no idea where it's going
  11. There was a gentleman flying the L on the Puetz road bridge over 94 for all the southbound traffic in the rain yesterday.
  12. 10th in attendance, 8th in PCT of stadium filled. 44,000 seems like the perfect number. http://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance/
  13. It's the 21st century. He probably does it digitally. Snapchat Filter.
  14. Mike Fiers hit two guys in a row -- Giancarlo Stanton was hit in the face and left the game (he swung), was replaced by Reed Johnson who was hit as well and swung... for a 2 hitter strikeout with 0 HBP. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIL/MIL201409110.shtml
  15. If the ball bounces forward instead of straight back, still in foul territory. It's a strikeout, right?
  16. "His annual average salary" is completely different from his salary cap number. https://packerswire.usatoday.com/2018/08/30/how-aaron-rodgers-new-contract-affects-packers-salary-cap/ The important numbers to know: Rodgers’ deal includes a $57.5 million signing bonus and $66.9 million paid out during the entire 2018 season. Signing bonuses are prorated over five years, so Rodgers’ bonus is distributed out into five $11.5 million cap hits. Adding in his $500,000 roster bonus, which has already been paid, gets us to $58 million paid and $12 million on the cap. A base salary of $8.9 million is required to finish out the $66.9 million payment in 2018. So tack on $8.9 million to the $12 million calculated above and Rodgers’ cap hit becomes $20.9 million. Overall, the Packers added less than $400,000 to their cap in 2018 by extending Rodgers, who will account for only 11.8 percent of the Packers’ cap.
  17. Yeah that probably wins. In 1982, Yount, playing SS put up a .331/.379/.578/.957 line (A 166 OPS+) and Molitor, playing 3B put up a .302/.366/.450/.816 line, 129 OPS+. They combined for ~17 WAR.
  18. Clutch plays, clutch hits are things that happen. Being consistently clutch... Well, why didn't that guy try that hard all the time?
  19. Jody Gerut at least had a couple of good seasons. His rookie year made him look like an up and coming star but it just never worked out for him.
