  1. I want 2 managers, dont care for big names. I want a solid tactical guy, who has been coaching for years, maybe even a college coach. The other guy I want is an outgoing quirky guy who can deal with the media & players egos. I want these 2 guys to be joined at the hip. Just my thought.
  2. I have to agree with JB on this one. I would give it to Axford. Im curious to see where he will end up in the ROY voting.
  3. Looks like we are going to trade Prince for pitching. With Hosmer on the rise & Butler due a big raise, I would think he might be available.
  4. 3 time all star & 2 time cycle hitter Chris Spier matches up well with Hocking
  5. I always have wondered why college coaches do not get a chance to become managers. It just seems like its always some major league guy guy who either playedin the majors or minors forever. I would throw an offer at one of the top college coaches and his college staff. Just a thought
  6. Im not for trading Casey right now but that being said I dont want management to give him a 3 or 4 year contract either.
  7. I could be wrong but I thought he has some problems with coke when he played too.
  8. I think part of the problem is he does not have the arm to play SS or 3rd.
  9. Carlos Silva, I just dont think he can help anyone. At least Milton Bradley could help a team. Not a player but I never want to see Dave Stewart around Miller Park. I m holding a big grudge against him for leaving the Brewers mid year.
  10. I thought Jose Mijares was their future closer. Won't they just go with him.
  11. I really think they need a right hander or two on the bench. As of right now that would be Heether,Norris Hopper or Matt Trenor. Im guessing they may platoon either Gerut or Edmonds with Hart leaving Hart on the bench at times.
  12. Let me take back a few things. Oetjen out---- Norris Hopper in Heether out----Gerut back in
  13. Keith Osik,Garry Bennett,Tom Lampkin,Jesse Levis, Robert Machado, Andy Allanson, Mike Rivera. They are all card carrying members. I think this is Matt Trenors destiny. Backup catcher Milwauke Brewers 2010.
  14. Here is my shot at this Rotation: Gallardo,Wolf, Davis, Bush, Suppan Bullpen: Hoffman,Hawkins,Coffey,Stetter,Parra,Navarson I think Vargas gets cut out of Spring Training, & Soup makes it at max until May 31st before he gets cut. Thats when they put the winner of the Parra/Navarson contest in the rotation. At that time they bring up Villenuuva up. Starters: Weeks,Escobar,Braun,Fielder,Mcghee,Hart/Edmonds,Zaun,Gomez Bench: Trenor(sorry),Edomonds/Hart,Counsell,Inglett,Heether,Oetljen I too think Kotteras will be cut & they will go with the non sexy pick in Trenor because his is a righty & he belongs to the international brotherhood of back up catchers. Lucroy & Salomone need to their at bats. They need a righty off the bench & being Heether can play a number of positions I think he gets the 25th man award.I think Gerut will get outplayed by Oetjen in spring leading to Gerut getting cut. Although I dont feel sold on this quite yet.Inglett could be the surprise of the spring. I think he will be the 1st man off the bench and playing 3rd occaionally to give Mcghee a day off. I also think he will become a fan favorite.
  15. Just throwing this out there. What about Hart, Parra, & Villy for Marcum &Bautista(or Downs). Bautista Could platoon with Edmonds plus he hit left handers pretty decent. I think Downs would do good as a 7th inning guy. Marcum if healthy would improve the rotation. Im just not sold on Parra. Just an idea.
  16. I had hope for many. Billy Joe Robideaux, Tim Pynarski, Joey Meyer, Kevin Barker,Antone Williomson,Kyle Peterson,Chad Green,Doug Loman. I remember being a 13 or 14 kid & hearing the hype on Joey Meyer & then he just fizzled out. In the early 90's the hype was about Todd Dunn. I had real high hopes for Jose Capellan too.
  17. Does anybody think we should trade Weeks & Hart together. This would give Gamel his shot, Mcghee could be the bridge the gap until Lawrie or Green hit the bigs. It could free up some money to sign a right fielder( Dye maybe). I know Weeks value is down but its just a thought.
  18. I will say it again, Raines was the best leadoff hitter in the game(not named Henderson). I believe he even has one of the highest stolen bases percentages. A hall of famer. I cant help but notice how close Dawsons(yes while somewhat better but not by much) & Dwight Evans Stats are & each have 8 gold gloves. Last point, for anyone who thinks Alomar & Blyleven are shoe ins for next year, I just checked out next years class. The steroid class is creeping up slowly. Bagwell,Larry Walker & Rafel Palmero. While I dont think Raffy will make it in(due to the roids), I think it could be some tough voting classes coming up.
  19. Well its just about that time of year. I m hoping for a great vote this year but sometimes just dont think the writers get it right. Just curious on who others would vote & why? I would give my vote for three with a considerartion for a forth.avg Tim Raines---- .294 avg .385obp .425 slg & .810 ops 808 steals 2605 hits. 70 + stolen bases 6 years in a row,a sliver slugger, 7 time all star, Greatest leadoff hitter not named Henderson, which should not be held against him. Roberto Alomar.----.300 avg .371 obp .443 slg & .814 ops 2724 hits,210 Hrs, 474 SB's 1134 RBI's. 12 time All star,10 time gold glover, 4 time silver slugger. Barry Larkin----.295 avg .371 obp.444 slg(see a trend with Alomar) 198 Hr's 960 RBI's 379 stolen bases(77 times caught stealing). 12 time allstar,9 time silver slugger, 3 time gold glover. Consideration would be Edgar Martinez --- .312 avg, .418 obs, .515 slg , 309 Hrs, 1283 RBis, 7 time all star, 5 time silver slugger. And I would love the Vets Comitee to consider Minnie Minoso .298 Avg .389 Obp,.459 slg, 3 time gold glover, 7 time all star( I know the vets comitee would have to wait until 2011, I just want to see him get in) (edit: updated title --1992)
  20. I was thinking before Kelly Johnson was non tendered that Corey Hart for Jo Jo Reyes & Kelly Johnson would be a possible trade idea. Not Sure if Jo Jo is still in the Braves plans.
  21. Let me start out by saying I cant make up my mind on this trade. I have read all 18 pages(some posts I skimmed) I have read some scouting reports on Gomez & I checked the web. I keep on reading about how great Gomez's defense is. I noticed he had 8 errors his rookie year. Maybe a fluke. Has an above average arm. I was trying to think of a comparable hitter & one that came to mind is Mariano Duncan. Looks like he does better at the end of the lineup than a leadoff hitter, which could probally be said of Escobar too. I feel if Bowden was availavble he may have been the better choice. I think eventually this trade could be a wash but we may not see the upside for a year or two. The biggest thing that bugs me- I feel we have a manager & a GM who are not on the same page. Our GM wants our young guys to play but our manager likes the crafty vets. Our GM wants some speed in the lineup but our manager does not want to utilize it.
  22. As far as pitching depth goes I think Melvin expected Wright, Green & possibly Capuano to fill out the 6, 7 & 8 pitchers.
