  1. And there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos, it is a homerun. So that'll make it a 4-0 ballgame.
  2. If they're willing to wait another hour they might get this in. Of course I would prefer a DH tomorrow as well. Although it feels like Hader needs to get some regular work ASAP so maybe it's better if we can play some baseball tonight.
  3. So, I'm doing a serious job search for the first time in a while and have gotten to the early interview process at a few positions at the same time. I just want to vent about how time consuming/mentally exhausting it is...hour after hour of interviews that I have to be on my A-game for, one place has me doing a coding homework assignment that is taking forever, studying for technical interviews, plus I'm up for promotion at my current job which requires preparing additional presentations and materials...and then there's my actual 40 hour/week job which I am still doing. Of course ideally I would like to time this so that I have multiple offers on the table at the same time, but everything is moving at different speeds. Also, all three of these jobs are in different cities, two are fully remote, one they would prefer to have me at the office 5 days/week but of course nobody wants to do that anymore so I need to negotiate work from home days. It honestly feels kind of creepy that a company would want me in the office 5 days/week...it's a tech job, I'm going to be more productive if you just let me work where I want to... /vent
  4. This is the first time in my life that I expect the Brewers to win the pennant. The 2011 team didn't have the starting pitching or coaching. The 2018 team was riding an absurd hot streak. The 2021 team is the complete package.
  5. The NHL has been pretty good at marketing outdoor games and is adjusting to the novelty of football stadium games wearing off. I think the 'made for TV' approach is going to grow like wildfire as the Lake Tahoe NHL game also drew rave reviews for the setting/visual beauty, although they had some problems with the ice due to the weather I believe. Also, they are using juiced balls for these games, right? And they didn't set up statcast in Iowa so we have no way of proving it.
  6. Pina 0.1 bWAR (prior to today) Yelich 0.8 bWAR Hiura -1.0 bWAR
  7. I can't remember the Brewers/Cubs rivalry ever being this lopsided. Even when the Cubs went 14-5 against the Brewers in 2015 they never scored double-digits against us.
  8. Just one of those situations where he had a long break after the 1st, a missed defensive play, and started to labor with a high pitch count in the inning. Seems like he's just going to throw fastballs to get out of this.
  9. I guess without elaborating I don't know exactly what you mean by this, but the NBA seems to be waaaay more hyper-local than the MLB. About 10 years ago I started working at a lab with a couple of researchers who had just come over to the US from China for the first time. In that situation I would always tell people that I'm from "Milwaukee, which is close to Chicago" because nobody from overseas has ever heard of Milwaukee. However, with the global popularity of the NBA, they were immediately like, "Oh, like the NBA Milwaukee Bucks?" And this was when the Bucks were terrible. As for Yelich...I think if he hadn't been willing to sign a team-friendly deal the Brewers would have been fine letting him walk. I would be surprised if the Brewers sign another big deal like that in the Stearns era. Mostly because they will still be paying Yelich forever
  10. We'll see...do you think Yelich will go from a low-.700s OPS in 2021 to a mid-.500s OPS in 2022? Similar to Davis from 2017-18?
  11. No extensions until the new CBA is signed.
  12. Feels good to beat up on a team of scrubs at a 3/4 empty Wrigley. The way it should be.
  13. Still a better lineup than we had in most of April and May...only 1/3 of the Shaw/Hiura/Bradley pit of despair.
  14. Nothing like a tornadic supercell to make for interesting baseball. Maybe there will be some baseball-sized chunks of ice falling from the sky. It's going to take a couple hours for this stuff to move through so I'm guessing they cancel the game.
  15. Coach Cooper always said you can’t have enough inside jokes. You just have to keep pouring them on.
  16. 29-23 to win 95 games.
  17. Just 1.7 more WAR for Rowdy to get us back to zero at 1B in 2021. If he keeps up his current pace he can do it in about 130 PA.
  18. That's an impressive pickup. What a weapon for Giannis to have. How many assists per game is Giannis going to add from dishing to Allen?
  19. I do emphasize with having some paranoia over losing the lead as well as the fairly common occurrence of big MLB division leads disappearing in September. But this team is built for September and October and they are getting stronger with time. I think they are far more likely to be playing for the #1 seed than the division in the last week of the season. The season is 2/3 over and they have a huge cushion.
  20. Yep, and they are only 6 games above .500. The Brewers are 21 games above .500. That's a lot of ground to make up for a team that is less talented than the Brewers. Hence why the Brewers are sitting at a 90-95% chance to win the division, with an expected margin of 8-9 games over Cincinnati. Realistically, the Reds are playing for the Wild Card at this point. The Brewers should have this wrapped up by mid-September so they can set their rotation for the playoffs.
  21. The big question is...how much of this schedule will actually get played? Is there any chance of them getting a new CBA in time?
