It's amazing that there are 5 teams in MLB hitting worse than the Brewers. I didn't know that was even possible. -
Yep, Manfred is not a quitter... I agree with turborickey that I'm very happy to have some baseball to watch. And there are plenty of interesting storylines, such as whether Logan Morrison will get a hit before he gets released My irritation with the procedures is mostly because I am a big baseball fan, and I wish it was MLB and not the NBA that was setting the right example of how to operate in the COVID era.

Huh? There's absolutely evidence that Marlins players violated protocols. The league certainly should shoulder a lot of blame too, but let's put some accountability also where it belongs on individuals making bad choices. https://www.thebiglead.com/posts/miami-marlins-players-ignored-protocols-punished-01eekke2hp5q Jeter seems to imply that they did violate some protocols but nothing egregious. But who knows what he is withholding. As for the Cardinals:

Yes, super sloppy on offense which was the difference. Defense was solid, although the Rockets (except Westbrook) are the most horrendous team to watch in the league. Same thing every possession...drive to the free throw line, dish out for a 3, rinse, repeat.

There’s no evidence that the Marlins broke the rules. The only rule that was broken was MLB allowing them to play after there were positive tests.

I get that a bubble wasn't possible, but then there should have been extremely strict protocols + enforcement for the non-bubble scenario. I'm not excusing the players here, but the system was set up so that they felt they could get away with it. There really isn't any enforcement or accountability in MLB right now, except for Joe Kelley it seems.

Risky behavior or not, the goal of keeping over 1,000 players/coaches free of COVID was always doomed. Compare the style/philosophy/leadership of Adam Silver vs. Manfred.

There is a lot of blame to go around, particularly on the safety aspects. That said, the commissioner is the one who is responsible for this completely preventable disaster. The commissioner is the one who has Dr. Fauci on speed dial, and Fauci basically laid out what needed to be done in April. Adam Silver and Gary Bettman got to work following those recommendations. Manfred went to work agitating the players union with financial proposals that were certain to be thrown straight in the trash. Once the non-bubble situation was agreed to, MLB did literally nothing to enforce the rules, even though everyone knew it was paramount that ALL risky situations where transmission was possible needed to be avoided. The players didn’t do themselves any favors here either.

If MLB doesn't get the virus under control in 10 days I think he's likely to opt out. Also, that is one of the strangest IL injuries I have seen in a while.

Smoak is 4 for 19 on the year, and Morrison is 0 for 5. How does Morrison project as the "best bat"? Also Holt only has one AB so far. Yep, and Sogard is delivering a high OBP as expected.

Surprise surprise... This applies not just to baseball but all businesses trying to reopen...you can make employees follow the rules when they are on the clock, but all bets are off when they are on their own time. And of course the business is the one that ends up suffering as a result.
