  1. If the current strategy is going to continue in perpetuity there will be a ton of roster turnover. Grandal is long, long gone. Sorry, he's not going to slip through the cracks of the FA market again after a career year. Management already knows this or they would have given him more days off. Pomeranz just showed off his stuff in front of a huge national TV audience. Like Grandal he's on the wrong side of 30. If someone else offers him multiple years he's gone. Lyles--his success was clearly some combination of luck and skill...if management thinks it was mostly skill I bet he'll be back. Moose--they could sure use him for another year...have to hope that nobody else wants to overpay for him.
  2. None of this is fair but our season just ended with "HE BOTCHED IT" and that's the way it is. They made a pretty nice run after the Yelich injury, which we all kind of knew at the time would be the death of this team in one way or another. That's about as close as I'll get to a silver lining. I'm devastated. I'm done with this for a while.
  3. I'd imagine it's a lot like an Amsterdam brothel. Amazingly fun but you have to clench your butt hole occasionally. This made me laugh which is what I needed.
  4. The big decision in that game was pulling Hader in the bottom of the 5th after 3 IP, 31 pitches. He was really dominant but we were down 2-1 and needed runs. If the game was tied I wonder if Hader would have gotten another inning or two. Of course in retrospect we didn't get any runs in the 5th and instead Cedeno came in and gave up a leadoff single and then Jeffress surrendered the knockout punch. I remember feeling really discouraged going into the 6th when we were still losing and had already used Hader.
  5. If Hader is first from the bullpen it will be with runners on base. Although if it is a left-handed hitter you can bet that CC will bring in a lefty.
  6. Looking at the rosters it is amazing the Brewers are even in this game. The Brewers only advantage on paper is bullpen which probably won’t matter because the Nats will not use theirs. But the Brewers have a fascinating roster with a game plan that gives them far better odds than the numbers would suggest. This is a fun game to watch for informed baseball fans who appreciate the unique strategy elements of single-elimination baseball with rest days on either side. I think the key for the Brewers is to get on base and steal some bases, make the Nats’ pitchers face as many high stress ABs as possible. And on the road against a loud crowd you obviously want to get the lead early if possible. I think with the warm/humid weather we will see lots of scoring tonight. I’m going to predict a 9-5 Brewers win. And I think Ryan Braun hits a home run to get the Brewers a lead.
  7. There's no way Braun doesn't hit a HR tomorrow. I'm calling it now.
  8. When you add in the fact that Gamel filled an important role on the Brewers as a late-innings PH/defensive replacement and injury fill-in, the trade was a big upgrade for the Brewers. The Mariners still have about 5 DHs on their roster so I would be surprised if Domingo ends up somewhere else soon.
