  1. So one should hate SUVs? Like I said before, I have an SUV. I don't hate them. I also do not like to blame the users for faulty street design. I would say that I support designing cities to reduce the potential for car-pedestrian impacts. Protected bike lanes, car-free zones in dense areas with heavy pedestrian traffic, etc.
  2. It really is simple. If you get hit by a car, most of the time you roll onto the hood and have leg injuries. If you get hit by an SUV, you don't roll onto the hood, you're much more likely to suffer internal injuries in your chest from the SUV grill hitting you or on your head from the pavement hitting you. I think you are missing the real problem. Pedestrians or drivers doing illegal things. You are blaming the vehicle for the death, you are chasing the wrong problem. The only difference between drivers doing illegal things in cars and drivers doing illegal things in SUVs is the vehicle type.
  3. I interpret the Shaw comments as agent speak. I'm sure teams will be lining up to give him a lowball deal full of performance incentives.
  4. The absolute dumbest thing they could have done was spend a ton of $$$ on 4-year deals to keep a team together that barely made the playoffs last year. All we know right now is that they didn't do that.
  5. Yes because we should make our decisions based on one playoff series. Should we get rid of Yelich based on that series as well?
  6. With nothing to lose I expect aggressive playcalling, trick plays, etc. Hopefully they didn't burn all of their best plays against Minnesota. I expect a loss but a better fight than last time. High scoring with Wisconsin losing by 1-2 possessions.
  7. If there is a critique of the Brewers FO it is that they didn't lock these guys into multiple years last winter. Knowing what we know now they both could have been signed to 3-year deals. That's the downside to the lower risk 1-year contracts.
  8. So we're back to the era of throwing ridiculous sums of money at 30+ year old free agents???
  9. Penn State seems like a better matchup against the Pac-12 Rose Bowl team. Wisconsin vs Auburn would be a great game.
  10. The conf championship games are mostly a waste of time this year, that’s for sure. That’s how it goes when the top 3 teams are pretty much set already.
  11. I was thinking the opposite...it would have been an easy year for the BCS. Ohio State vs LSU.
  12. Vintage Chryst playcalling
  13. Yeah there is no way Wisconsin wins this game.
  14. SUVs are not terrible for the environment, and safer to drive than cars. That’s wrong, they kill cyclists and pedestrians at a much higher rate than smaller cars.
  15. The proliferation of SUVs is terrible for the environment and is a big contributor to the recent increase in pedestrian deaths. I say that as someone who has an SUV (although we do not use it for commuting).
  16. I’m a big believer that Arcia has potential but not sure what that has to do with Villar. If anything this suggests that there was some serious substance to the “Villar is in Counsell’s doghouse” talk. No way 29 MLB teams take a pass on a 4-WAR player.
  17. They need to do something to make the regular season more interesting. I’m all for major changes. And make the bad teams compete for better draft position!

  19. The “Jeter only” people will get their way this year...whatever. Next year is the fun one when the steroid folks are in their 10th year.
  20. Overall it looks better than expected. Love the new colors. Love that they found a way to keep the barley in a new and creative way. However, some aspects of the redesign feel borrowed from other teams that have updated recently. And maybe it’s good to have a bit of continuity with the Bucks? The logos feel like they will stick around but I expect they will add more uniform combos next year.
  21. Yep...a “physics” or “math” bachelors is just as useless as “philosophy” when it comes to getting a job. Fortunately the mission of a University is not job training. Graduate programs know this and take smart people with all sorts of majors.
  22. This is a really important point and one that speaks to how expensive college is favoring students from privileged backgrounds who can afford to work for free. Or in many cases you work in exchange for college credit which means you are literally paying money (in credit hours) to work! The economic inequity is what worries me. There is no system in place for it other than "get scholarships" which of course tend to go to the students who already have a leg up. Working harder can only get you so far.
  23. After going to T-Mobile Park this year where they have attempted to make a pink sponsor blend with a green palette I have realized that things could be much, much worse. The Brewers will have a great opportunity to rebrand everything in their stadium at once with the new logo+colors+sponsor.
  24. I think the fan experience is adapting to the slower game as much as to any change in taste by the fans. When I first read the title I though they were taking out 400-level sections like many teams have been doing in recent years. Not sure how anyone could possibly pay attention to a full baseball game from the bad seats on the terrace level.
  25. Would he see the Brewers as a legitimate contender? If a team like the Braves is interested that is closer to a sure bet for a postseason run.
