  1. My interpretation is that Orlando needed more time at AAA. His AAA stats were probably boosted by being at Colorado Springs. He's only 25 years old and the team has other needs to fill. So he gets another half-season leash from me at least.
  2. The Twins have basically designed a team meant to beat NYY at Yankee Stadium. If they are ever going to do it this is the year.
  3. More fun stats... The managers for the 2014, 2015, and 2016 World Series champions (Bochy/Yost/Maddon) are all gone. Craig Counsell is now the longest tenured manager in the NL.
  4. This Youtube video of Nationals' playoff chokes is a good watch:
  5. You realize we get off days between the WC game and DS right? So many off days. The October schedule is perfect for the Brewers' bullpen approach. No game Wednesday or Saturday if they make it to the NLDS. They can bullpen their way through the majority of postseason games. Last year in that NLDS sweep the starters only covered 12 2/3 innings out of 28 and then they had several days off before the NLCS. More reason for optimism--Scherzer is far from untouchable in October. He is 0-4 in the postseason since 2013 (last 7 appearances) with a 4.28 ERA.
  6. What does the phone call from the Angels sound like?? "Hey Joe, want to come manage for us? If you do we'll fire our current guy."
  7. Is anyone even watching this game? Do people really like the NFL that much or is everyone just burned out after yesterday? I watched about 15 minutes of the Packers this year and figured that was enough NFL for 2019.
  8. Did Arcia take that himself because of Keston's defense?
  9. It would be sad to lose a 90-win season if the back of the bullpen gives this one up.
  10. Markakis is probably the most forgettable name on that list. Heck of a career he put together with only 1 all-star appearance. An OBP machine.
  11. The funny thing is outside of the Cubs, SD and Philly are the other two teams that have made some very questionable and expensive FA signings lately. I want to cheer for Joe so I hope he takes the SD job, would be lower pressure and the ceiling seems as high as Philly.
  12. I feel like the playoffs would be cheapened by having another "round". Would rather see the NLDS made 7 games and keep the WC as-is. At the end of the day the Brewers came up short and they are being given a gift of even having a chance. And for being 5th place in the league the path to the championship is about as easy as it gets in any of the major sports. Only 4 wins to be back in the NLCS.
  13. For whatever it is or isn't worth, NL home teams are 2-5 in the two Wild Card era. And the Nats are known playoff chokers. All the pressure is on them. Some early entertainment to get ready for Tuesday:
  14. Also it appears that Ryan Braun is surprisingly far up on the 2010s hits list, despite missing most of 2013.
  15. I figured it out (not telling the answer because I had to cheat and hunt the hitting leaderboards to figure it out). Hard to believe but the winner never lead the league in hits.
  16. Miguel Cabrera? He is #5 My next guess was Altuve but it looks like he is about 100 short.
  17. He’ll have multiple offers for sure. Edit: add the Pirates to the list of teams that will surely be courting Maddon.
  18. Game 162 and it’s not the last one! Only 4th time in ~25 years as a fan that I can say that!
  19. They were never more than a 20% shot to win the division. It's just unfortunate that they were one out away...or one of those throws from the outfield being a bit off. Credit to the Rockies.
