  1. Well if the Mariners are going to win at least they are hitting triples to get me free food at Taco Time.
  2. I had to look it up after Domingo's awful play on Braun's hit...he is literally the worst outfielder in MLB this year, -11 outs above average. His speed is below average for corner outfielders. As PeavyFury noted, he has canceled out over half (actually 2/3 of his bWAR) due to poor defense. Unfortunately Domingo was quite valuable to the Brewers as a DH as well as a PH in Sept/Oct. I doubt we will have someone like that later this year.
  3. The one thing the Mariners can do well is score runs. They are not good at any other aspect of baseball.
  4. Domingo looked clueless on Braun's double...that one had a 32% catch probability but he was nowhere near it. Edit--stat is wrong I think
  5. Without the cash discount it essentially costs more to pay cash. If I use my credit card, I get most of that 3% back through airline miles/rewards. If I pay cash I get nothing. I would rather pay cash but the system forces me to use the credit card.
  6. Nothing new here that isn’t discussed in other places...locking this thread.
  7. Let it be known that I got at least one prediction right after 15+ years on this forum!
  8. I also heard the Vegas rumor. In this era where stadium=money it’s clear that any group who can push a stadium through is going to get a team and the more they can mooch off the taxpayers the better. Crazy how welfare for billionaires is considered acceptable.
  9. A split-season seems like the less alienating move. I think everyone knows this wouldn't be a permanent situation, similar to how Montreal played part of their season Puerto Rico for a while.
  10. They want both cities to build stadiums. Typical MLB doing just about the dumbest thing possible. What is the smart move here? The current situation in Tampa needs to be resolved so something needs to be done.
  11. The only allowable name for this team would be the "Snowbirds"
  12. I refuse to believe the lack of interest on the Brewers part was due to being payroll strapped. They will gladly take on >$7.5 million this summer when the right move(s) come along.
  13. The Colorado Rockies outscored the San Diego Padres 48-44 in their recent 4-game series split. The Rockies made history by being the first team in the live-ball era (at least) to score 12+ runs in three straight games and lose two of them.
  14. He's played almost 400 innings at 1st this season. More than either 1B on our roster. The only reason EE plays at 1B is because Vogelbach is even less of a 1B than Encarnacion. The Mariners are the worst defense in baseball by far. They have about 5 DHs playing the field. I know defensive WAR is a bit uncertain it isn't easy to be a part-time DH and still pile up -15 career dWAR and be well in the red for 10 years in a row. Nothing about Encarnacion fits into the Brewers playbook. We want to get into a bidding war with the richest team in baseball over a 36-year old 1B/DH that hasn't played in the NL in over a decade??? I'm thankful Stearns has a keen awareness of opportunity cost.
  15. He was never coming to the NL. We don't need a DH.
  16. I still think MLB could do more to make the all-star week more creative. They have improved the home run derby so I know they are capable of it. At some point it might not make sense to play a traditional 9-inning baseball game anymore. They could experiment with different rules, do a skills competition, basically anything to make it fun and showcase their stars. Imagine how much social media attention they would get if they allowed the fans to vote on some rule changes for the all-star game...let people be creative. Put a pit of alligators in the outfield, award bonus runs for stealing bases, etc.
  17. I'm not very invested in this particular SCF but you can bet I'll have my eyes on a game 7.
  18. IMO the whole bunt thing became irrelevant after defensive shifting took off...it's fair game if you can get it down. The minor league thing was a non-story, afterwards the players on both sides said no offense was taken.
  19. I'm a patient person but I'm completely done with Shaw and Aguilar. We desperately need one of them to wake up, but it feels like it's never going to happen.
  20. Not having the cash to use later when better options might be available.
  21. I saw EE play in Seattle on Saturday, he looks like a guy who has no skill except swinging for the fences on a last place team. He hasn't been in the NL in 10 years. Hard pass.
