  1. I'm not seeing the justification to spend big this year. Those advocating for several major deals have a point--it would take several major deals to differentiate ourselves from the NL Central competition--and even then we would probably not be able to match the intangibles that made the 2018 team so good. With a number of contending teams sitting on cash reserves, the market is ripe for overpays right now and I'd rather not be involved in that.
  2. MLB journalism is better than ever. So many places out there to get quality content. The AP is not one of them.
  3. I recently deleted about 50 gb of music, some of which I probably downloaded 15 years ago or more (Kazaa maybe?). After Spotify showed up there wasn’t a reason for it anymore. But now if someone took my Spotify playlists away...it was not easy to make new my personal “library”.
  4. UW might have the second highest academic standards but we're still talking a low bar here...you can get in with an ACT score in the teens and they will give you a ton of free tutoring/classes to try and get your score up. I would hope they never lower their standards, regardless of what other schools are doing. At least at Wisconsin they can still legitimately be considered "student athletes" rather than "volunteer athletes" or free labor.

    NBA Finals

Agreed. I'm cheering for Toronto. They played better than the Bucks and are starting to look like the best team this year. Although the finals are likely headed for a 6 or 7 game series.
  6. With the crazy exit velocities these days I expect that someone will eventually get injured by a home run.
  7. The Cardinals have been unlucky and underperforming their expected W/L. I would expect improvement and not just because they are the Cardinals. The Brewers have been a bit lucky but it is right to give them credit for their SOS. It will be interesting to see if the Reds can jump a couple teams in the standings. No easy wins in the NL Central this year. Ultimately I think this comes down to the Aug-Sept stretch where the Brewers play a bunch of games against the Cubs and Cardinals. That's the time you want the Brewers playing their best baseball.
  8. Yep. In fact I would argue this is now a bigger PR disaster for Wisconsin BB than Marquette. The fact that they split up rather than go to Wisconsin...yikes.
  9. I have some gripes about in-game adjustments and Giannis’ play but I think it ultimately comes down to inexperience. I can tell this loss won’t sting for long and they will be back in the ECF in 2020.
  10. And Giannis gets posterized...wow.
  11. Season's on the line...can they get it together?
  12. FYI baiting and then insulting other posters will result in a temporary ban. Thanks.
  13. It's probably a combination of several factors. Regardless of the cause it's way too easy to hit home runs. I have no idea what the solution should be.
  14. This feels like the Brewers-Dodgers NLCS...Milwaukee initially has the upper hand, series turns on an overtime/extra-innings game, the Milwaukee MVP plays somewhat poorly... Hoping for a repeat of NLCS game 6 tomorrow night.
  15. That is a brilliant question! Looked like he wasn't expecting a fastball.
  16. Game 4 is a big one--was that the best the Raptors have to offer or can they sustain the momentum? I suspect not but thy seemed energized by the home fans. Meanwhile the Warriors have cemented their status as favorites...
  17. The Bucks should be down 20 but Toronto isn't good enough to take advantage.
  18. He's a contender in all three triple crown categories so that will be something to watch as well. Although Cody Bellinger is still batting over .400 (!!!) so he'll have to come back down to earth at some point for Yelich to have a chance.
  19. I still think the best idea I've heard is a postseason tournament for the draft picks. The winning team gets the #1 pick, runner up gets #2 pick. Everyone else goes into a random lottery with equal chances at picks 3, 4, etc. Teams that are truly awful should get no reward or help from the NBA. To discourage tanking by fringe playoff teams, I would add that teams seeded 7-8 can choose to be in the regular playoffs or the draft pick playoffs--if they choose draft playoffs then the 9-10 seeds get bumped into the regular playoffs.
  20. That might up being the closest Toronto gets to winning a game in this series unless they have some absurd shooting night. It’s kind of cool how both the Brewers and Bucks are succeeding on some variation of the MVP + depth formula.
