  1. After an offseason of roster turnover and projections that we would lose 10-15 wins off our 2025 total, our biggest loss was one of our bench utility guys? That's insane. We traded away our #1 starting pitcher and he's having a pretty good season with his new team and somehow our rotation is ranked higher in WAR this year vs. last year (#5 vs. #6 in MLB).
  2. Can't wait to see which team we sucker into giving us prospects for Lockridge this offseason.
  3. .600 win percentage in a season that we were “punting”
  4. I get it but it's always the hypothetical "need an OF, 3B, and SS" but missing names or contracts that we should have signed. Pretty much all of the big FA signings have been meh this year and several teams that went for it have been total flops. Like you say, what we really need is for MLB to do something to stop the Dodgers. We've proven we can get past everyone else in the NL on a good day. I'm of the opinion that if we stick to the current plan the stars will eventually align. Keep getting a 1-2 seed and skipping the wild card round and eventually a favorable path will come together. I think it would have already happened if not for some bad luck in those wild card games/series.
  5. I'll gladly take a "close but no cigar" team if they continue to play at a 95 win pace and finish runners up to a team with a $400 million payroll.
  6. There are only 10 teams in MLB with positive run differentials!
  7. Always remember that markets will remain irrational longer than you will remain solvent.
  8. Yep, baseball fans want to win them all but smart bullpen management pays huge dividends in the fall. I don’t know what the Brewers do but these days load management is often a collaboration between the manager and the FO. Murphy probably has a spreadsheet for who is pitching in different situations and today he likely just went to the “blowout win” column and deployed in the order that was decided before the game even started.
  9. We’ll be ahead of the Cubs by the end of the month. Maybe sooner.
  10. It's just not easy to OPS .750 with 5th percentile bat speed. Sal has elite pitch selection and he's improved his BB rate and xwOBA. The 2026 vs. 2025 differences in his batted ball profile are slight. Mostly it seems that he got very lucky last year (.405 SLG vs. .339 xSLG) and is slightly unlucky this year (.321 SLG vs. .348 xSLG).
  11. The underperforming list doesn't really shock me other than the bullpen. On offense it's mostly a depth issue. Sal isn't far off from his 2025 Savant numbers but when you rely on your speed and defense to generate value you don't have much wiggle room to slump. I'm seriously concerned that he is a .650 OPS guy that had an outlier year in 2025.
  12. The duo of Neugebauer and Lou Palsmo were going to solve all of our woahs...
  13. I have no recollection of anyone on that list and I look forward to not remembering Greg Jones when his name inevitably comes up in one of these trivia queries in 5 years.
  14. This is a really good observation. It's interesting that SS has been producing more offense than 3B since 2024. It seems like the latest young crop of stars all play middle infield. There are not many high profile 3B debuts of late, certainly not of the level needed to replace aging stars like Arenado, José Ramírez, Bregman, and Manny Machado. Austin Riley isn't that old but his production fell off a cliff.
  15. The offense is top 10 as well in runs scored/game. They have actually underperformed their pythagorean W-L by a game. They "should" be 15-12!
  16. Given the current replacement options, if he can OPS at his 2025 rate of .593 he'll probably keep his job. If he continues at his 2026 rate of .445, he probably won't (and is already losing playing time as others have mentioned). It's frustrating since it's a very low bar that he's not reaching.
  17. Yep, Frelick is a way bigger problem right now, playing at the #2 ranked offensive position in MLB, a position where league average OPS is 35 points higher than shortstop. And Frelick isn't making it up with his glove.
  18. If we consider positional adjustments, the "winner" of worst bat of 2026 so far is actually Luis Rengifo at -0.4 oWAR. Sal Frelick and Joey are in a tie for second at -0.3 oWAR. The award for 'objectively the worst hitter on the team' surely goes to Joey.
  19. The good news is that his defense has gotten him to be exactly replacement level (0.0 bWAR). So it doesn't make sense to replace him with a minor leaguer, especially when he should regress toward his usual level of "pretty bad but not horrendous". Relief pitching and RF have both performed worse to this point, LF and 3B are comparable.
  20. He could have deployed them in a different order!
  21. Schedule loss that ended up as a schedule loss. (Ignore all the details about what actually transpired in the game)
  22. Missed opportunity to tack on insurance runs burned us.
  23. The Tigers broadcast showed Skubal chucking things in the dugout. Certified Brewers woodpecker moment.
  24. Turang is a bum compared with these bottom of the order guys.
  25. Bottom of the order! Bottom of the order!!!
