  1. It's similar to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Everyone still calls it the Superdome, but the facility gets a nice check.
  2. I know he's the hot bat, but Lucroy is playing quite a bit. He's started 7 of the last 8 days and pinch hit on the "off" day. Any chance he knows how to play 1B?
  3. The Bucks now play at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Seems like a smart way to raise some funds in the short term. LINK
  4. Nice to see the offense awaken...during a day game! The RR bashing was more justified last year. That roster had way more talent and it took several months before they started playing like it.
  5. Everyone knows why this team isn't winning. It's lack of talent. RR and Melvin are never going to say that, but when the season is over they will blame the failure on injuries. This is possibly the worst infield in team history. They lost half the infield to injury and the other half is performing terribly. The bench is awful. I can't blame the coaches for that. I don't know whether this is a bottom 5 team in the NL or not. But it's not a top-5 team. The only part of this team that might be top-5 is the starting rotation, and even that is debatable. As the sample size gets larger, they are only going to fall farther behind.
  6. Tyler Houston (Who let the dogs out?) only played 76 games in 2002, but Mark Loretta was the 3B before he was traded for Keith Ginter and Wayne Franklin. As for backups, Lenny Harris hit .305 off the bench. The problem was Ronnie Belliard's .544 OPS for 317 PA. Amazingly, that's 50 points worse than Rickie Weeks. I guess I'm just trying to convince you guys that this team has absolutely no shot at competing this year with the current roster. It doesn't matter who RR puts in there. They simply are not good and they aren't going to get any better. Even if Weeks and Ramirez wake up, Ishikawa and Lucroy are probably headed the opposite direction. It's tough to say it in mid-May, but 2012 is going to be a lost year. I think back to 2010 when the starting pitching brought down the whole team. This year the infield/bench is going to do the same thing. It doesn't matter how well they pitch.
  7. It would never happen, but from a revenue perspective, Brooklyn, NY is easily the best available option. A's fans don't really need to worry yet, nothing is going to happen in the near future.
  8. Which would you rather have? Richie Sexson-Eric Young-Jose Hernandez-Tyler Houston (2002 infield) Travis Ishikawa-Rickie Weeks-Cesar Izturis-Aramis Ramirez (2012 infield)
  9. They all seem like bad hitters to me. Who cares which one starts?
  10. A golden sombrero for Weeks? For his sake, I hope this is rock bottom.
  11. Greinke's gone after 2012. No point in getting into the Prince Fielder mentality when reality is staring us right in the face. The Brewers would have to offer a Cain-like extension and Greinke may do even better than that on the open market. There are lots of losers in the Fielder/Pujols auction that are going to drive up the price. We all know the value of a #1 starter, but how many years of a #1 starter would we be paying for? You never know which starters will continue to have success after they start losing velocity. The more pertinent question is whether you trade him in July or let him walk. I think this is a perfect year to make the deadline deal if they can pick up some decent prospects. It's a perfect year to do it because of the high volume of tickets already sold and the legitimate excuse that injuries have made it impossible to compete. In 2011 it made sense to go for it since that roster had a legitimate shot at the World Series. This year, even a NLCS repeat is a long shot at best. These are not the 2011 Cardinals. It would be nice to get some high-A to AA hitters to go along with those promising young pitchers.
  12. I agree completely with this. A strong suspension is appropriate from MLB. The long-lasting implications are what trouble me the most. Lawrie certainly should be swinging at borderline pitches the rest of the season...
  13. Yes, Lawrie can be passionate/angry to a fault. And he should have been more careful when he spiked his helmet. But it wasn't like he was trying to attack or even hit the umpire. I wasn't aware that umpires are allowed to reign in rookies, I thought that was the job of the opposing pitcher. In this case, the umpire was allowed to "send a message" by changing the strike zone at his will. But I guess that is acceptable if the player is a rookie? Just part of the game? Or is it that only the manager is allowed to scream and spit in the umpire's face?
  14. What Lawrie did was wrong, but that umpiring was horrible. If the umpire makes the right call, there is no problem.
  15. Yep, Weeks needs to be down in the order where he will see more strikes and can just swing away.
  16. Aoki with another strange route, although I don't think he would have gotten there anyway.
  17. Bill Hall homered for the Orioles tonight!
  18. Yeah that wasn't the wisest prediction. It's past midnight, bedtime for me. Hopefully Braun finishes it off in the 11th.
  19. Ok Parra, this guy doesn't have any career sac bunts. Please don't walk him.
