  1. Early hook today by LaRussa. The Cardinals can absolutely not afford to blow this game at any cost. It would be devastating.
  2. The most important game Yo ever started by far was the Ryan Braun walkoff grand slam game. He was just back from the injury and pitched 4 innings, with 1 run and 7 K. I can't think of another "big" game that he has started. He has been good on Opening Day also, I guess those are big games.
  3. Playoff odds are still over 98%. A loss today gets them down to 96-97%. Statistically insignificant. Now, the point about Arizona is well taken. There is still something to play for--but the amount of pressure now is much lower than a month ago. By the way, it's suddenly 6-3, this game is far from over :-)
  4. Crumbling under pressure? What pressure? The division race is over. This series doesn't change that.
  5. I'm specifically talking about wishing for bad things to happen to him so that he will get benched. General comments about his ineptitude are still allowed.
  6. Lets drop the Yuni talk right now, don't even go there.
  7. Green is the new Geoff Jenkins, he has the leg lift and everything.
  8. Why would anyone be covering first there? It was a double for sure off the bat. Unless you think the Brewers should be expecting a runner to have to go backwards. Just a freak play. Bad luck tonight but plenty of time to mount a comeback.
  9. I'm not convinced that Green is our panacea at 3B, but I at least expected him to get a few AB by now. Hopefully he at least gets a PH opportunity tonight.
  10. I agree with Canal St. for general parking. For preferred parking, enter via Miller Park Way and turn left (west) at Canal St. Go around the right field side of the ballpark (via Frederick Miller Way) by the trees that lead to the VA. Try to park as far to the right (west) side as the attendants will let you (in the Thomas or Fingers lot). To exit, do not go to the back of the lot by Mitchell Blvd and I-94. Instead, exit in one of the gaps in the median on the west side of the lot (onto Frederick Miller Way). Turn left and go back around the ballpark the way you came in. Then you can get back on I-94 via Miller Park Way, or you can take National Ave to 84th or all the way to 894.
  11. It seems like most of the crowd stuck around for the end of the game. In a normal year, people filter out starting in the 7th inning or so, leaving only about 50% of the crowd by the end. If 90% of the crowd sticks around for the finish, congestion is going to increase. Especially on a weeknight when less people come early to tailgate and less people stay late after the game in the lots.
  12. I think we all understand that people post things in the heat of the moment that they do not mean otherwise. That is why there is a delete button. There are also other ways to vent anger than to post on an online forum. If sports are not real life, why get so upset about it? I really, really love the Brewers and I wouldn't be on this forum if I didn't, but if the Brewers get swept by the Braves in 3 games, I'm going to be upset for a little while, but I'm still going to go to bed next to my wife, get up the next morning, and go to work. Second thing...this is an online forum. The Brewers front office isn't reading your posts. Just a bunch of other guys in front of their computers watching the games. So the real benefit of the IGT is to talk strategy and discuss the game. Not to throw out insults to players (they aren't reading the forum either). Not to make personal critiques of anyone, including calling anyone idiots, stupid, etc. Not to vent anger/frustration about the game. So whether it is ok to cheer for Yuni to get injured or not is not the point. The point is that the whole idea/theme of the conversation about Yuni is against the purpose of the IGT.
  13. Betancourt = -0.1 WAR Wilson + Counsell = -0.3 WAR So it's a wash. I think I need to mention that I agree that Roenicke threw the game away tonight with his decision making. So I'm not against you guys or irrationally defending RR at all costs. But there is a difference between saying that and getting emotional, wishing injuries, making personal insults, etc. etc. Especially because the game doesn't really matter in the big picture. Yes, it could be a preview of the playoffs, the D'Backs could magically pass us, the Cardinals could win 20 games in a row, but it's probably meaningless. We're just not going to accept negativity towards Brewers players. I've been a Brewers fan for 16 years. If Betancourt was released tomorrow, you guys would find someone else to harp on. Just let it go. There's always going to be a weakest link and there are always going to be some decisions that management makes that the majority of us will disagree with. It doesn't mean anyone is an idiot.
  14. I disagree. He's a below replacement player, and with SS replacements like Hairston, the Brewers would almost certainly be a better ballclub. Then who's going to play second base?
  15. There were several posts about it, if you haven't noticed the mods can quickly hide inappropriate posts. The fact is, we aren't going to cheer for Brewers to get injured on this forum. And no, it would not make the Brewers better to have Yuni injured. He's the worst starter on the team, but that doesn't automatically mean that he is useless or detrimental to the team. The idea of Brewerfan.net is to have a higher level of discussion than that. There are plenty of other forums out there with no moderating where you all can freely discuss the benefit of having Yuni out for the season. We bend the rules a bit for the IGT but not that far. And by the way, the loss tonight was completely meaningless. The Brewers playoff odds dropped from 99.5% to 99.3%.
  16. Some of you are really pathetic. We are not going to tolerate cheering for the Brewers to get injured.
  17. While I know it would never happen, having McGehee bunt Fielder to second would be the slowest sacrifice in MLB history.
  18. Not in a million years is Green going to pinch hit for McGehee or Betancourt.
  19. St. Louis needs to win all 6 games against the Brewers to have any sort of chance. Even 5-1 leaves them 6 1/2 back which is almost impossible to overcome. By any normal calculations, they are already statistically finished.
  20. St. Louis does have a much better fan base, after all, they do average 715 fans per game more than us.
