  1. Thanks for the list, Casey. I noticed it doesn't include the postseason, as the NLDS games against the Phillies would rank #37 and #39 on that list. Oct 4, 2008: 43,992 Oct 5, 2008: 43,934 I'm guessing they sold less tickets because of room needed for media personnel.
  2. Welcome to the forum Brewcrewfan! I hope nobody uses "Fear the Beer", I think it should be "Drink the Beer".
  3. Was Irene overhyped or not? Here is an excellent statistical assessment. It seems like the amount of media coverage was appropriate, but they may not have properly conveyed the possibility that the storm may weaken.
  4. JSonline is reporting that the 3 millionth ticket will be sold this week! Another great year of attendance at Miller Park.
  5. Just noticed Irene's MSLP is still 951 mb. That is typical of a high-end Category 3. So there is still going to be significant wind, rain, and storm surge in New York. Definitely not a storm to take lightly. The center is also back over water. While intensification is unlikely, any weakening is going to be very slow and it will still be a hurricane or close to it upon reaching NYC.
  6. While it is great to be in 1st place, I have actually lost some interest in the Brewers lately. They have a 10 game lead and they are still about 3 weeks away from clinching. October seems way too far away. It will be nice to play the Cardinals and Phillies to make things interesting again. Beating up on bad teams is starting to get a little old :-)
  7. Good point. They also have to be careful since the Braves are red hot and remain only 6 games back. No throwing in AAA players for spot starts without potential consequences. Interestingly, if the Braves were to eclipse the Phillies, the Brewers/Phillies would play in the NLDS.
  8. I agree, it is odd to see Byrd so shallow. The scouting report says to play the outfield deep against the Brewers. I am not sure why Quade isn't following it.
  9. The infield was at double play depth which is what prevented Yuni from getting to that ball--although his range certainly didn't help.
  10. I haven't watched any news coverage but I have spent many hours looking at weather data for this storm. It really had the potential to be a devastating storm and the serious nature of the warnings was well warranted. Irene is going to cause very serious flooding and probably do close to $10 billion in damage, which would place it within the top 10 most expensive US hurricanes of all time. Fortunately, it takes almost a perfect track to do serious damage to NY/New England, and the landfall in NC is probably going to reduce the storm surge enough to avoid the most catastrophic scenarios like the flooding of the NYC subways. But this isn't a Katrina or Wilma or anything like that. The main problem is not the power of the storm, it is the number of people living in flood-prone areas which are sensitive to even a weaker storm.
  11. I think you are in a small minority, but I respect your opinion. I do not think it adds more commercial time. There are a designated number of commercials per half and once they use them up, they stop taking commercial breaks. So I guess a replay that occurs after the commercials are used up would add more time, but I do not think any more than 5 minutes is added to the average game, probably less. The same goes for baseball, ultimately you add only a few minutes to the game, with the result that the integrity of the game is improved. Most games would not even have a single call reviewed so it would generally be inconsequential. I am also in favor of fully automating ball/strike calls, but I recognize that is still probably about 10-15 years away from being implemented. I strongly believe that it is inevitable, it is just a matter of time to refine the technology, get it on all broadcast TV, and then have a blown call get lots of media attention. The Joyce call will ultimately result in more replay, public opinion has been in favor of it ever since.
  12. How much college football do you watch? It doesn't take any additional time. It just uses a TV time out which would have been used later anyway. I am not sure of the average number of replays per game but it is probably 2-3. It has been a complete success.
  13. Since he's only going 55 pitches, the Brewers should be able to chase him after 4 and get to the bullpen. Edit: lineup fixed ;-)
  14. They would certainly do better than the first time, but it was the same Brewers team that is on the field right now, plus Weeks and Gomez. The elephant in the room here is that the Brewers hot streak has been against sub-par competition. While it is true that all wins count the same, just because this team can destroy the bottom half of the NL does not mean they are ready for October. Even the Cardinals are not exactly playing great right now. Did it all come together in August, or did the schedule just get easier? I think the answer is probably some of both, but we will not really know for sure until they play the top tier NL teams. Even losing 3/4 or 4/4 to the Phillies would not really matter in the standings, but it will draw lots of attention and is the best remaining gauge to judge whether the Brewers are World Series contenders or not.
  15. You're probably right about the division, although St. Louis retains about a 1% chance. However, that 4-game set with the Phillies in a little over two weeks is starting to loom large. While its impact on playoff seeding may be inconsequential, it will draw lots of attention and give the Brewers an opportunity to prove that they can play with the big boys--which they failed to prove back in June. We all know what we want this year, and the road to it leads through Philadelphia.
  16. 25 games over .500 for the first time since 1982!!!!!
  17. This team is doing unbelievable things on a daily basis.
  18. There have been some technical difficulties, the staff is working to resolve them.
  19. Geddy, if you are going to make statements like this, you need to provide some numbers to back it up. You're not contributing anything useful to the discussion. It's not even worth our time to list the ways that your statements today are horribly wrong.
  20. I had to leave when it was 7-6. I honestly wasn't worried and just figured K-Rod and Axford would close it out. When I looked up the final score I just assumed the Brewers took an 11-6 lead in the 8th and then brought in Dillard or someone to give up a few garbage time runs. Crazy game and it is good entertainment reading the reactions in the IGT. Kudos to those that stuck with it until the end, you never know with this team.
  21. Game 7 of the World Series? I think you meant Game 4 http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. Yikes, a very rare pitching meltdown. I guess it was inevitable to happen sooner or later. Still a good chance to win with a 7-6 lead.
  23. Huge fire in CF, somebody needs to call the fire department. Good thing the smoke is blowing the other way.
  24. That also happens to be my birthday, so I would be very happy clinching that night.
