  1. Castro has a cannon. Usually the play ranging into the gap results in a lollipop throw, but he set and threw a bullet over to get Yuni by 1/2 step.
  2. Ok we're winning, the pessimists can be quiet now for a few innings.
  3. Nice cheap one Braun. Who was that fan who nearly fell over going for a fair ball? A Cubs fan I hope?
  4. The Cubs' best two positions (by batting average) are 3B and SS. Interesting.
  5. We ended the Cordero jinx so it's a good time to take care of the Dempster one now.
  6. Feeling good about the Brewers now. They are back at Miller Park, the lineup is back to normal, and the lowly Cubs are in town. Time to get a winning streak going!
  7. My wife and I just got an Italian Greyhound puppy three weeks ago. It is (and should be) a long process to get a dog. My advice is to be patient and if you find a good breeder that is a right fit, wait for the puppy instead of taking what is available at the time. Some people were shocked to find out how much we paid for a puppy, but it is money well spent considering the guarantee against genetic problems and the ability to pick a puppy from a good home as opposed to a puppy mill/pet store, which still costs a considerable amount anyway. Do not be afraid to say "no" late in the process if something does not seem right. The breeder should always require a contract ensuring that the dog is returned to the breeder at any time in its life if it is no longer wanted. I also agree that it is important to do lots of research and have a long list of prepared questions to ask. For us, everything was going well until yesterday when our puppy was attacked by a much larger, aggressive dog that broke free from a leash. Both her and myself were in quite a bit of shock and we both sustained injuries. I had to reach in and pull her out from under the other dog. Italian Greyhound puppies are small and submissive so she did not really stand a chance. Fortunately, the puppy is doing fine and did not break any bones as I feared at first. I had to go to the ER for a puncture wound in my finger that has caused the tip of my finger to go numb, as well as various other bite marks. It was not a pleasant experience and I made the mistake of letting the other dog owner get away before I got his contact information. By the time I realized that I was bleeding and the puppy was hurt, he was long gone. So that was a big mistake and I will be more vigilant in the future, it would have been nice to make the other guy pay the Pet ER bill--although I am lucky it was only $130, if she had broken a bone it could have been many times that.
  8. If the manager doesn't call a bunt, that usually means that the player does not bunt. I've never heard of a manager calling a "no bunt". My impression is that Roenicke thinks Hart should not have bunted there, although he got the runner over so he can't really fault him.
  9. You have to give the Pirates fans credit for showing up to the Cardinals series this weekend. Over 110,000 fans for the largest 3-game series total in PNC Park history. Usually it takes awhile for the fans to show up again after a long period of losing--18 years in this case--but it is good to know that baseball is alive and well in Pittsburgh.
  10. Would really love to win the series and go home in 1st place after one of the toughest trips of the year. Lots of winnable games coming up in the next few weeks, along with a few chances to knock down the closest competition in the division. If my counting is correct, 40 of the remaining 60 games are against the Cubs, Pirates, Cardinals, and Astros.
  11. Not sure what angle FSN had, but he was clearly out on the Giants' replay, foot missed home plate and tag right on the "B" on the jersey.
  12. The windmill caught up to Sedar there, shouldn't have sent Rickie with one out. Good call.
  13. Pitching coach. Even the Giants' announcers are siding with the umpires.
  14. 2 strikeouts, 1 single, and 4 fly ball outs so far. I wonder if Wolf's success this year is partially because he relies less on the defense than the rest of our pitching staff.
  15. This ballpark is perfect for Wolf, lots of fly ball outs already.
  16. Who are you and what have you done with Yuniesky Betancourt?
  17. Considering the Brewers' home/road splits this year, you could probably attribute most of the drop in production to the road trip.
  18. Morgan needs to tone it down a bit on road games. Arizona fans were too listless to care but his gestures were bound to tick off some fans eventually. Yes, the original gesture was harmless, but Morgan continued to stare back at the stands and make additional gestures for the rest of the inning. That's unacceptable, he can't let the fans get in his head.
  19. Now that we got our moral victory, can I go to bed now?
  20. Plays at the plate are very difficult for the catcher. That one took a bad bounce. The catchers mitt causes problems sometimes also. With the pitcher coming up, you can argue that it is ok to take the risk there.
  21. Back in 1st. Wow, what a game. It sucks to lose Gomez, hopefully he will be back for September.
