  1. Nice work bringing in the SPC outlook. Definitely going to be some nasty storms. Hail and wind appear to be the main threats. The really serious storm chasers are not convinced of the tornado threat but there will probably be a few. Oh, and it will feel like mid-summer with dew points in the 60s and temperatures in the 80s.
  2. On TV it looks 80%+ Brewers fans from the few crowd shots. Game is also not sold out but crowd is in the 35,000-38,000 range.
  3. ESPN is reporting that Manny tested positive for a banned substance in Spring Training and would have faced a 100-game suspension. Hopefully he fades into oblivion.
  4. Wow, he mustered just one hit for the Rays. A stunning fall from grace that was likely accelerated by drug testing.
  5. Looks like I was the most anti-Morgan on that thread from last year. Perhaps a little too harsh in retrospect... Tony has grown on me quickly here--sure there might be a bad ending sometime down the road, but for now you have to ride the wave. I still think he should keep his mouth shut--of course he doesn't want to play for a losing team, but neither does anyone else and you aren't going to make very many friends in baseball when you bash your former team. It will be up to Roenicke and the coaching staff to harness his aggression. Having a competition in CF will be good for the team and Kotsay will find himself at the end of the bench.
  6. This is ridiculous. What do people have against Corey Hart? Greinke and Hart both have similar injuries, why does Greinke get a free pass for taking 2 months to recover and Hart doesn't? Rib injuries take 2 months.
  7. I think you meant "That's Expos bad" or "That's pre-Jacobs field Cleveland bad". In fact, Cleveland was already 30th in attendance last year, averaging 17,000/game. They will almost certainly be last in attendance again this year, probably in the 14,000-16,000/game range. The Marlins average in the 18,000-19,000 range but will likely be over 30,000/game next year with the new retractable roof ballpark opening.
  8. The nice thing about having improved pitching is that we do not have to get as angry every time the offense blows an opportunity.
  9. I'll take even one run here but a bomb would sure be nice. Edit: Here's a chance for Tony to ascent to cult status
  10. Yuni loves the first pitch...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  11. The Red Sox can probably start 0-12 and still make the playoffs. Also, congrats to Cleveland for drawing over 10,000 fans today for only the 2nd time in 6 games.
  12. Nice job by Prado, just reached out and poked it through for a single. Marcum left it a bit up but it was well off the outside corner.
  13. The camera got lucky and caught the fist pump at the right time. Braun was already around 1st base. I doubt Hanson saw it.
  14. The Braves sure think they are. Edit: That is EXACTLY why you run and try and steal bases. Hanson was completely focuses on Gomez and left a pitch right down the middle for Braun.
  15. He was playing deep and had a long way to go. Didn't dive but made a good leaning, running catch.
  16. Lets just say Kotsay wouldn't have even come close to catching that ball.
  17. The Brewers are very vulnerable against lefties right now, but they should be very good against lefties when Hart and Lucroy are back. Sooner or later the offense will wake up. Maybe Fielder can drop down a bunt if they keep putting that shift on, he's grounded into it several times already this year.
  18. No, they use your IP address now and they check every time you switch games.
  19. Sounds like some of you in WI may be stuck with the Bucks game tonight. It sucks being a transplanted Brewers fan, but MLB.TV has to be one of the greatest inventions ever. As for the game, I am very confident that they will pull it out tonight and get in the "W" column. Although it should be noted that the 2006 Brewers started 5-0 and finished 75-87, so maybe this year an 0-5 start and 87-75 finish will be acceptable. Or at least that's what I will be telling myself if they lose again.
  20. Speaking of the Indians, that crowd of 8,726 on Sunday was really bad. It broke the previous record of 9,853 which stood for less than 24 hours. So much for the city that sold out 400+ straight games, although you would imagine that the numbers will go up next year when people unload their Cavs tickets. Even the Cubs look to be in for a down year for attendance, with only 26,000 paid for yesterday's game. It looked more like about 15,000 in the stands which is the most empty I have seen Wrigley in a while.
  21. So was anyone here actually at the game or did all of Brewerfan boycott Opening Day? I'm specifically curious about thoughts on the scoreboard, crowd, atmosphere, etc.
  22. When the Brewers go into a slide, it is important to think about whether the causes are temporary or a sign of things to come. Injuries will be corrected. Fielder will start hitting. Saito isn't going to give up bombs. Marcum will be fine. The lineup suddenly looks better with Hart in RF, Lucroy at catcher, and Morgan as the first guy off the bench. On the other hand, Betancourt looks like a really poor hitter. Gomez isn't going to magically learn plate discipline. Still looks like an 85 win team to me, it just sucks to lose the first 4 instead of a random patch of 4 games later in the year. They were all against 2010 playoff teams. The main concern right now is to limit the damage and not let this thing spiral out of control.
