    I could write a response to this, but I'll just say that comments like that are exactly why I would want to leave town if I was Hall.

    Despite the initial displeasure, Hall has handled the situation great--being the first one to congratulate Branyan, says he's trying to have fun, etc... The fans have let him know that they don't want him anymore. I applaud him for responding the way they have, I would openly demand a trade if I was him for all the sacrifices he has made.

    It's La Nina. After it's over, we will continue our gradual climb upward. Think of it like this: The normal high/low in Milwaukee today is 75/55. The records are 94/43. Since weather/ocean patterns are essentially waves, fluctuation is the norm. Or, in baseball terms...small sample size!!!

    It doesn't matter who is more deserving. Under the current system, the goal is for the fans to vote in their favorite players. It's about fan favorites more than numbers, and I don't know any Brewers fan who likes McClouth better than Ryan Braun, but if you do, feel free to vote for McClouth.

    Nice to see that the Corey Hart leadoff experiment is over.

    It's really a shame to see the HOF game end. Now that it is over, there is no way that they will ever start it up again. The game was a huge economic boost for Cooperstown and an important way to connect baseball's present with its past.

    My favorite was the ESPN headline: "Yanks slam Astros, but Wang leaves with injury" And btw, my girlfriend found that to be hilarious, and she hates baseball.

    Since we have a 5.03 road ERA and a 3.33 home ERA, I suggest that we platoon the entire pitching staff.

    If you don't credit Yost/Melvin for McClung's success, then you can't blame Yost/Melvin for Gagne's lack of success.

    I don't see why Escobar would be better than either Counsell or Hall. He isn't ready for the big leagues yet.

    Twins fans are better than Cubs fans. Still, Brewers fans aren't exactly the class of MLB. I've seen it go both ways during the Brewers/Cubs games. Last year at the Metrodome there was a group of Brewers fans parading around after the Friday win with a Brett Favre poster chanting "Go Pack Go". Most Brewers/Twins fans around them got a laugh out of that. I would call the Twins our friendly rivals. Nothing compares to Brewers/Cubs though, it has always brought us crazy games but the intensity has really picked up the last few years.

    Get a Samsung. The first one I had lasted 2 years with no problems. When we renewed our contract, I got another Samsung that is currently 1 year old, also with no problems. They are also easier to use than Motorola phones.

    I think it's a mix of a number of factors: 1. Minor leagues--It seems like the Brewers frequently bring up players from the minors who lack fundamentals. This is likely a product of this not being emphasized throughout the system. It's not just us (sacrifice bunts don't earn you that promotion), but Weeks, Fielder, and Braun have all had defensive issues. 2. Major leagues--I know the frequent excuse is that the Brewers are "young" but I don't buy it based on the terrific defense by the Rockies last year. In their defense, Yost and the coaching staff have been emphasizing fundamentals since day 1 of spring training and there has been significant improvement made. Ryan Braun is doing just fine in left field and has started to make impressive diving catches. I'm left to wonder if maybe there are better coaches out there than 1980's Brewers players that remind us of our "glory years". 3. The players--What happened to Mike Cameron recently? For a veteran player with a number of gold gloves, you can't really look at anyone else but the actual player. The Twins may be fundamentally sound, but the consequence is that they are a speedy, slap hitting team. They have 20 triples and only 43 home runs. Overally, I think we are fundamentally better than last year, but it sticks out more this year because the offense hasn't been clicking. Remember the Diamondbacks series? We definitely weren't the team making errors/mistakes two weeks ago.

    Russell has been tearing it up for over 2 months now between Nashville and Milwaukee. I think he has a decent chance to have a continuing major impact on the Brewers this year, as long as he takes care of the walks part of the 3TO. As for "small" samples, think back to JJ Hardy's April and May of 2008. If only JJ Hardy could always have a .900 OPS.

    Any pitcher that goes 27-6 is doing something right. However, I would say that Welch is #3 at best and probably #4 depending on how much importance you give to relievers. This is a virtual tie between Eck and Clemens. Eck had about the most dominant possible season for a reliever and Clemens had about the most dominant possible season for a starter. I'm leaning Eckersley based on that being possibly the best season out of the bullpen ever. Only 4 walks and 5 runs all year! Bad defense/umpiring could cause that many. Still, those 4 shutouts by Clemens really stick out and he pitched 3 times as many innings. I hate to break the tie this way (and it technically doesn't count), but in the 1990 ALCS, Boston (88 wins) faced off against Oakland (103 wins). Eck had 3 apperances, 3.1 IP, 2 saves, and no ER. Clemens pitched only 6 shutout innings in game 1 and the Red Sox ended up losing 9-1. Clemens was ejected in the 2nd inning of game 4 after allowing 3 ER. The A's won the series 3-1. Thus, Eckersley gets the nod.

    I can't blame Yost for tonight's game. Corey Hart's mistake was clearly the killer. Fielder's homer missed by 2 inches. It's going to be one of the worst losses of the season. It happens. I'm as ticked as everyone else, but when you only have one above-average, dependable pitcher in your bullpen (Torres), you are going to lose close games frequently. And we will keep losing games. I hope Yost gets fired so the new guy can deal with this bullpen. The result will be the same--too many close losses to handle.

    Who should they have brought in? We have three replacement level pitchers in our bullpen. No manager could win with that garbage.
