  1. I'm hoping for a spark tonight, but Cameron's lefty/righty splits suggest that he isn't going to make much of a difference with his bat. Hopefully Sheets has it tonight. I predict a 1-0 Brewers win, solo HR by Prince.
  2. Can't beat the bubble van--especially after I upgraded the sound system. http://www.geocities.com/nomad85013/ToyotaPrevia.jpg
  3. I have really bad tree pollen allergies. Mine started about 2 weeks ago, the first warm day where there was a wind from the south. I've tried Claritin, Allegra, Flonase, and Zyrtec. Flonase works the best, but it only last about 2-3 hours and you're only supposed to use it twice per day. Zyrtec makes me drowsy and doesn't relieve any symptoms as far as I can tell. The best success I have had is with a pill combined with a nasal spray. Today was not a good day to test allergy medications, I didn't take anything today and had no problems, the pollen count was probably really low (they only measure on weekdays). When the pollen count for trees is "high" or "severe", I have never found anything that works effectively. Thus, my conclusion is that the best allergy medication is rain, because it washes all the pollen out of the air.
  4. I wasn't surprised at all to see Helms beat us (again). There was no reason to boo him on Opening Day 2005. He had a tough 2004 which was clearly due to the injury in San Juan, which was not his fault. The Brewers were terrible in 2004, it wasn't just him, but he was frequently the only one that got booed for it. He never said anything bad about Milwaukee. He didn't have any off-field problems. Teammates said he was one of the harder working players. He put the tough year behind him and was promptly booed on Opening Day (although it was probably only about 1/3 of the fans that were booing). He was clearly deeply affected by it. I've heard the argument about the fans having the "right to boo". I agree. However, players are human and just because they are high paid baseball players does not mean that they don't have emotions. He was obviously upset enough already that his career had gone downhill after a random injury and I think he is justified in being hurt over getting booed. Some players ignore it, but there is clearly sometimes a consequence for the response that fans give to the players. I like moments like giving Prince Fielder a standing ovation after he started the 2006 season 0-10. I have been giving Gagne and Turnbow standing ovations, even though virtually nobody else does. If a player stinks, it will take care of itself. Do you think Turnbow doesn't know that he stinks? Do you think Wes Helms didn't know that he had a horrible year? Wes Helms is not an idiot for wanting to beat the Brewers. It is true that he is only a backup third baseman for the Marlins, but he is getting the last laugh. He helped to ruin our playoff run last year when he drove in the winning runs in the 11th inning on August 5th in what was perhaps the most devastating loss of the year. He got the game winning RBI on Friday and today. Good for you Wes, nice to shove it in the face of those that wronged you. If only you could play with that kind of motivation every game.
  5. He can get out lefties...good What about the .340 hitting cleanup hitter?
  6. I think we can take him out now.
  7. The thing is, a 7-1 loss would actually feel less painful than 2-1.
  8. Sooner or later some of these line drives will start falling in. I will also suggest that Miller Park is playing more as a pitchers park so far this year, as I have seen lots of hard hit balls die at the wall. Even Prince's bomb last night seemed to die out, and it only made it over the wall by about 10 feet. Once the weather warms up and we get some games with the roof open, I suspect the balls will start to fly out with a greater frequency.
  9. Nice work by Riske. He needed that.
  10. Went to the game, had a blast even though they didn't win. I'm starting to come to the realization that our hitters aren't as good as we think they are. Hopefully they will prove me wrong. If Ned would have taken out Mota, then he should be fired. You don't pull a pitcher with an ERA under 1 after he lets 2 guys on base. What message would that send to our bullpen, which has been one of the strengths of the team this year?
  11. I bought my Saturday tickets 2 weeks ago and the best I could get was section 232. It's still easy to get tickets for weekdays, but every Friday and Saturday night game for the rest of the year is going to be a sellout or close to it.
  12. I blame Yost. Give me 5 minutes to figure out why, though.
  13. Go for the sac fly Rickie, get the run in .
  14. Going with Gwynn instead...good call.
  15. Looks like Weeks, Braun, Hall, and Fielder are all waking up. A nice dose of Marlins pitching should do them well this weekend.
  16. The squeeze play is airing Thursday at 7 PM.
  17. Bill Hall may be the only above-average defensive player in our infield.
  18. I recommend a Hobby Shop--Greenfield News and Hobby on 68th and Layton.
  19. Sheetswannabe--I'm glad you also noticed Rickie's interview skills. I counted 19 "you knows" in that interview!
  20. I'm a supporter of the current location. I agree, a downtown stadium would have benefited the Milwaukee downtown economy much more than the current location. However, I know that no matter how much they could rearrange traffic corridors, there is no way that there would not be major traffic jams. Traffic jams mean people leave the game early (see Dodger Stadium). The Miller Park lots were horrible for several years before the situation was sorted out (they still are during Cubs games since the Illinois people aren't familiar with the system). I think they should bring the entertainment to the Miller Park area and I'm surprised that they haven't yet. I always envisioned something similar to Moorland Rd. near I-94 and Brookfield Square. There would be maybe two 10-15 story hotels surrounded by several restaurants/bars, along with a parking structure. This would alleviate the parking overflow concerns, since people going to the restaurants before the game could park out of the current lots and still be within walking distance. Perhaps the hotels/restaurants could provide a shuttle to the game. The entire thing would be Brewers-themed, of course. I know they have built a few things behind the East lots, but I still think there is room to do something like this. I heard a water park mentioned, but I like the idea of more restaurants better to accommodate the game day crowd.
  21. The best fact of all is that we have only committed 7 errors!!!
