  1. For Kottaras? That must mean Wolf is done? And he's bunting?? Is Kottaras hurt or something?
  2. Wow this game is going quick. MLB.TV tends to lag behind a little bit, and when I refresh it at the end of each half inning it's already 2 outs into the next half inning.
  3. Nicely done. As bad as our defense is, it was largely Berkman's poor outfield speed that gave us some nice opportunities.
  4. Yeah, that low strike call is a big one for Marcum to get.
  5. "[La Russa] does what he wants to do, and nobody in here pays attention to him" - Shaun Marcum I liked that quote.
  6. This is an understatement. I'd rather employ a plastic bag at first base than take Adam Dunn. I'm sure he'll have a halfway decent rebound year offensively next year, but he's not worth a backup Rookie ball catcher for the money he's owed and the hole he'll put at first base. We have Mat Gamel ready to go at first base, not to mention the FA 1st basemen that will be available next year. I don't think the Brewers will trade Gamel and if they do it will be for some pitching help.
  7. It bugs me when the "random thoughts" thread has more posts than this one.
  8. Yes, I'd be very surprised. Its nice that he's batting better lately, but it's a small sample in his overall season and career. His OBP is still only .283 and he's on pace to have a lower OPS and HR total compared to last year. He still doesn't have any patience at the plate and very little range. I love what he's doing lately, but I hope the Brewers don't put him in next years plan, especially with some good SS becoming FAs.
  9. Corey Hart exited the game because of a left hand contusion.
  10. So we shouldn't institute replay because it will only correct 95% of wrong calls? That's like saying we shouldn't have amoxicillin because 5% of people may have diarrhea. I understand the resistance to replay because it has never been used and it's not part of the tradition of the game, but it's been incorporated seamlessly and successfully in every other sport and improved them. It can easily be used in baseball in a similar fashion.
  11. I don't want the world to be perfect. I just want an out to be called an out and a fair ball to be called fair. I'm curious what "other mistakes" will be introduced by instituting replay?
  12. If the runner beats the tag then the runner is safe. I'm pretty sure that is in the rule book. Sure, if Prince was a better defender with a quicker arm he would have been out, but he's not. The runner beat the tag, I'm not sure how you can view it otherwise. If you equate the umpires wasting time under a hood as making the game more boring, I can't argue with that. But consider that it takes just as much time for Brad Mills to walk on the field and argue with the umpire as it would to review a play. Honestly, I find it a lot more satisfying to watch a game where the correct calls are made, and in some cases the correct calls might make the score closer and the game less boring. Why would you not want the umpires to make the correct call?
  13. It sure seems that way. I won't complain when the calls go our way, but I don't see how anyone can argue against expanded replay in baseball. That play wasn't even close in regular speed. 1) Because it makes the game more boring2) Often times you cant tell on the replay anyways 3) You cant remove luck from sports no matter how much you try, bad calls are part of luck. I dont see how doing everything right but getting a bad call is any different than making a great pitch but having the batter serve up a cheap double down the line. Both cases bad luck, the best teams are always the most lucky. If you want a sport with no luck watch track. 1) Boring is subjective. It makes the game more fair.2) If the replay is inconclusive, then the call on the field stands. 3) A double is two bases no matter how it is hit, a bad call has the potential to be fixed.

  15. Oh boy. The Brewers have been getting a LOT of good calls going their way recently.
  16. Me too. Only certain threads and sometimes I can get in after multiple tries. I'm using firefox, btw.

  18. I really thought we were going to pull this one off.
  19. There are better options than Estrada, but then who do we use in the 14th inning?
  20. I'm not sure, but it probably involved cheese sandwiches.
  21. nope. and it will hurt really really bad. Really? The way this game has gone so far?
